Nobody loves heavy traffic as much as I do ... especially when the traffic is on our web servers. It simply thrills me. Last weekend was an intense one for all of us at MouthShut.com and we worked overnight to manage the traffic.

Past Sunday morning, our engineers noticed a huge spike in the traffic on our websites. They tried to resolve the issue, but the CPU load would just not come down. We added more servers overnight and decided to restart the core firewalls. Believe it or not, the firewall crashed just when the servers were load balanced.

I'm not going to tax you with the details of the ‘hows’ and ‘whats’, but there's one thing that I want to re-affirm - our promise to keep working harder for all of you. Our entire team loves the fact that you love MouthShut.com and trust me there is nothing more addictive, nothing more motivating to keep us on our toes all day and at times (as in this case) all night also.

We've faced outage only three times in our nearly nine years of being on board. I promise you that we will set new benchmarks for higher-uptimes. So no worries and only smiles.

Great News!

The technical issue at MouthShut.com has been successfully resolved. I would like to thank all of you for keeping the faith. It was tough and frustrating for some of you but I'm glad that your patience has paid off.

I'm sure all of you must be wondering what was wrong with MouthShut.com, why was it not opening, why was it so slow, so on and so forth. Well, hold those frowns a little bit. There was nothing wrong with your favorite website; just that a few technical issues had cropped up (nothing major really) due to certain hardware problems. Our team dealt with it in a swift manner and the last few days were spent in the setting up of brand new hardware.

Hi All:

Last month some new cool features were implemented on your suggestion. Today, I am just going to remind you of some important features.

1. Members can Request to Change their MouthShut ID.
- Go to your Settings page and request for the new ID.
- Once you get the new MouthShut ID all your Reviews, Diaries, Photos, Gifts and Comments will be visible from the new ID.
2. You can remove Trusted Feed Alert for some members
- Go to your Settings page
- Click on Trusted Circle Feeds tab
- Uncheck the boxes from the users
- Update Alerts
- Now you will not get Trusted Feed Updates for those users
3. Review and Diary is auto saved every minute

4. Users can view the Original Size of the Photos in Photo Gallery Pages by clicking ‘See Original Photos’

Suppose your internet connection is disconnected or there is a power failure which leaves you fuming, no worries. You can easily retrieve your Review and Diary content on MouthShut.com as it’s saved in your Drafts.

How should I check my Drafts?

If you have saved any Review or Diary, then View my Drafts link is shown in My Dashboard below the Send a gift to yourselflink.

I'm back with another exciting feature.

You can now change your MouthShut Id yourself. No writing emails to MouthShut Support. All you have to do is log in and go to 'My Settings'. On the right hand side of the page, you will see the tab 'Change MouthShut ID''. Click on it to do the needful. It's as simple as that.

Exercise Caution

I would encourage you to exercise caution while requesting a change in your ID as:

You can change your MouthShut ID only once
All requests are subject to MouthShut.com's approval
The change of ID comes with a cost

So use this feature only if you REALLY REALLY need to change your MouthShut ID. Don't use it for the heck of it.

What is the Upcoming Birthdays feature?

Upcoming Birthdays feature is just to make you aware of your friends' birthdays so that you can wish them on their birthdays by sending Gifts and M2Ms. It is shown on your Profile Page.

Upcoming Birthdays in the next seven days of members who trust you will be shown in your profile page. Members who hide their Date of Birth won’t be shown on Upcoming Birthdays.

Just anticipating a few questions I may receive as comments or M2Ms.

My Birthday is in the next seven days, still my profile is not appearing in ‘Upcoming Birthdays’ of my friends. What should I do to make it happen?

You may have hidden your Date of Birth in your profile settings. To show your Date of Birth to all, please do the following:

· Log in and go to Edit Profile Page.
· Select ‘show to all’ in Date of Birth field.
· Update it

Now your profile will be shown to your friends in Upcoming Birthdays.

How can I see more members in Upcoming Birthday?

Be active on MouthShut.com by writing quality Reviews, Diaries, Posting Comments etc. By being active, your list of friends will increase. This way you will get more number of birthday alerts.

Make your Date of Birth visible to everyone; enjoy your Birthday on MouthShut.com by receiving Gifts and M2M’s by your loved ones.

We've received hundreds of requests from members asking us to change their MS ID. In principle, we were opposed to that idea. Barring few exceptions, we rejected such requests (it's fairly complicated request anyway).

This past few weeks, after much deliberation with the tech team, support team and senior managers in MouthShut.com,we've decided to accept change of MS ID requests, subject to certain guidelines.

Sometimes in the first week of April 2009, you will see a special link to Request for MS ID Change in the Account Settings tab in your profile. It will lead to a simple form, which you can complete and then press submit. Once we receive your MS ID change request, and if approved, your MS ID will be changed to the new one after 48 hours.

Additionally, a list of OLD MS ID and the corresponding NEW MS ID will be published for the benefit of the entire MouthShut community.

I am sure many of you will come closer to your true self with your NEW MS ID.
