Changing IDs

By: jasmine | Posted Apr 14, 2009 | General | 1909 Views | (Updated Apr 14, 2009 06:22 PM)

Hello everyone:

I'm back with another exciting feature.

You can now change your MouthShut Id yourself. No writing emails to MouthShut Support. All you have to do is log in and go to 'My Settings'. On the right hand side of the page, you will see the tab 'Change MouthShut ID''. Click on it to do the needful. It's as simple as that.

Exercise Caution

I would encourage you to exercise caution while requesting a change in your ID as:

You can change your MouthShut ID only once

All requests are subject to MouthShut.com's approval

The change of ID comes with a cost

So use this feature only if you REALLY REALLY need to change your MouthShut ID. Don't use it for the heck of it.

Cheers!

dont take INR, deduct it from the Points the members have accumulated. After all, its MS's approved currency

Xiona, Why do you not agree, I think many people have misunderstood ''changing id'' I have read a few comments on Faisals DP regarding this.in which they feel that changing of Ids can be abused and member may not be able to recognize the new id.
This is more like changing nickname. The profile remains the same and it will be seen in your trust list. only thing is instead of qwan you will see Jai_raj, When you click on it you can easily recognize the person by looking at his profile and reviews.
It is similar to orkut where they change their nick to represent their status.
The cost is 1000 MS - Points will be deducted for request to change MouthShut ID.
If you check the change Id section you can see the points.
Good feature, many of us do not think when signing up or maybe due to the lack of id we just sign up with whatever is available, later on we tend to identify ourselves with something or we simply want to put our entire name on the id. So this really helps.

We need an option to gift points too. I read someone does not have points to change their Id I thought of gifting them some points.
Also I was wondering that why are the points being deducted for gifts, The gifts are virtual, so I think the points should be transferred to the person the gift goes to. So that points can be shared and it can become a give and take.
Also instead of just donating points people can gift a lot of gifts and share points.
Also I feel that points should be deducted(that is disappear into thing air)only for features like this name changing one.
I am sure in future many more such features or request may come up and the points can be deducted for these.
Forgot to mention this is the norm in many forums and communities. It has worked and is accepted by all.

There is no financial cost involved to changing IDs. Only a point cost. This is done only to ensure that IDs are changed not for a lark.

Cheers!
