I had no job and was in the same state as the people who are reading this . I came to Chennai with nothing except a friend who gave me food and shelter and 5000 bucks . I attended CSS Corp interview by 11 AM in the morning and got interviewed by 6 PM and after which I was told to wait for the result. I waited till 11 PM to find out that I did not get selected .(I think they lost my resume!). I was confident enough to tell the HR that, " No way" & I was told that they would schedule another interview. Which was done as promised and I was told to come and discuss my terms and Pay.
I was inducted and was having lunch with my induction team. I received another call from HR stating that I got selected again and was told to come and review my pay and terms. I know right?! Awkward! Please understand that stuff happens . Ok, Now that I have completed my induction story let me continue to say how I worked happily for 1 year. I was told that I could go to a semi technical process as I was a mechanical engineer. If an Employer gives you 2 Lakhs a year, when the employer does not deliver even 1 Lakh for the skills you posses; then its time that we need to shift our career paths. Please understand that you need to put your constraints upright and clear when you are interviewed .
As I joined this semi - technical process, I was thoroughly trained and was ready to go live in 3 months . These 3 months, my salary was low at first, I admit, it was 10 k the first month as the remaining amount was for night shift and performance, neither of which could be completed in the first month, After which I got 12 K and I got the full salary of 15 K in my third month . I did not take a cab, Which they charge you for, neither did I have food coupons. I rode the Bus and ate outside . By the third month I was able to see that my process was a 24X7 support, meaning that I can choose my working hours. The thing about each process is that If it is 24X7 then you would get day shifts, But if it is a Night only then you are in for a roller coaster ride. I never earned below 15 K henceforth. After a year I got 2 lakh plus 15 thousand extra as incentives, My process had a good relationship with the client. We used to get rich incentives and had our requests taken care off. One sad thing is that you do not have the authorization or a ticketing system to choose your day or night shifts . It is randomly done by our Wor scheduling persons & management people. But apart from this, I had a good team leader, a good manager, a good project manager. I have to relieve from the company in the end because I was locking up my talents and there was limited technical knowledge you may gain. But even then I got opportunities to an enterprise support within the company which I was not interested in.
Regardless of time, thinking of settling down in a comfortable life is a mere illusion and not possible. You need not work for 12 hours for that to happen . Be smart and quick enough to choose the place you are going to work in.
