EVERY NEW YEAR AFTER SIXTY (A POEM)
Every New Year after Sixty
Is a nail on the soles of Life,
Added to strengthen the shoes
For feet to trudge on forward.
Changing a horse in midstream is impossible;
So too re-soling your shoes is out of the question.
Just add nails till no more can be added
To keep them going till the journey is done!
The Master Cobbler has nails for every sole;
But what He adds to your immortal soul
That doesn’t wear out due to attrition
Is a marvel of beauty beyond question!
