Diarysmart Reviews

Pissed Off!
May 26, 2003 02:00 PM

Like other people I was previously a happy user of DiarySmart reminders.

I find it hard to understand how a company that has been operating for several yrs has no warning they are going off line.

I have also lost my address book of birthdays built up over several yrs. If anyone has any idea how we can recover this information I would be very greatful.

I would also appreciate information on who operating this company. Initial research shows they were run out of New Zealand.

There is also a concern that a company $$ strapped will sell private information to a third party. I suppose we will never know, however increased spam could be an indicator.

What happened to DiarySmart web site?
Apr 29, 2003 09:56 PM

Guys,

I am not sure what happened to the diarysmart.com web site. It was a good service and I know many of my friends subscribed and were using it for the past one year. But now it is not up and running for more than a month. Are they still in business or what? I have all the BDays and events stored in there and there is no way to get to it for backup now. Guys any ideas about this web site and is there any way I can get to those events I stored in there? I appreciate your help in this regard.

Thanks

Vish

To me...it is a god send
Apr 01, 2003 05:12 PM

A colleague recommended this site to me some months back. When I signed on I didn't think I’d use it as much, but I have become totally dependent on it. Friends who have known me for the longest time are shocked when they hear from me on their birthday because it is normal for me to forget. I'm in everybody's good books now...Infact even acquaintances get cards from me…

The best thing about this site is that you can decide when you want to be reminder…either a week, 2 weeks a day and even on the day.

Now that I am used to this awesome site…I don’t think I can do with out it

The Secret behind my Great Memory :-)
Aug 19, 2002 03:31 PM

When it comes to remembering dates( I dont mean those that grow on the palm trees in Arabia :-) ) I am a poor soul. I do have a diary where I have noted down all the important dates, but then I dont always carry it around !! (no its not heavy!) .

So after a lot of forgetting and then listening to the pooh poohs of my near & dear ones and after getting out of my phase of self pity, I decided enough was enough!! I need to do something about this!!

my mind raced on the various options in front of me.]

I could visit the shrink (EEKKSS!!)

Or

I could gulp down those promising memory tonics (EEKKSS again)!!

Or

Start the day with a long peep in the events diary.(Gosh is there no other easy way?)

Guess the Gods were appeased by my rantings. A friend directed to me a URL. and yes u guessed it right it was diarysmart.com

I then registered on the site and the rest is history(to my friends yup!)

Well I just love this site. and Why? see the points below.

1: Easy registration. Ur email address is the login name.

2: The interface is wonderful. You get to see the listing of events starting from the most relevant date.

3: You get a reminder email as set by you for every relevant event.

4: You can enter your reminders manually or send a common email to your friends directing them to the site to fill their details.

5: No promotional(read it as spam) mails from the site itself.

But then I do have a grouse about this site. It takes a long time to load.(guys I have an ISDN line and even then!!) Should I blame it on the popularity of the site?

Well so there!! Looks like I just got a mail from diarysmart. Its my best friends's wedding anniversary!! Thanks diarysmart for reminding me!

Guys I do feel u ought to give it a try. I m very happy with this ''smart'' site. What say u?

Don't ever forget...............
May 21, 2002 04:02 AM

I came upon this website purely by accident. I was just surfing around, putting in -----.com and seeing what I came up with. And I came up with Diary Smart.com

This is a site which acts as a'' memory'' for people like me who forget what day it is. (LOLOL)

This site let's you place reminders of your friends and relatives birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, social gatherings, etc.

It even allows you to send a site generated e-mail to everyone you know asking them to add their birthday, anniversary, etc, and also list a selection of gifts they would like to receive for that occasion.

It will remind you of all your important dates. It will send you a reminder when you have to have your oil changed in your car. It will let you know when your next beauty parlor appointment is or your next Doctor or Dentist appointment.

It sets up a calendar and you can add the important dates and the site will send you a reminder up to 2 weeks in advance, and then again the day of. It will also suggest a gift to buy that person from looking at the list they have submitted. (neat!)

The site loaded pretty fast and it was really easy to get around.

So if you're like me and forget what planet you're on, this is a helpful site.

Geez, my friends and family won't know what to do when I send gifts and cards on time! It will even amaze me! =)

The smart way to keep in touch!
Jul 31, 2001 11:22 AM

I came across this site a few days ago, and was amused! I thought, who needs a website which remembers your friend’s birthdays and also reminds you back of them. Then, a few days back, I managed to forget one of my close friend’s birthday, and did not even send him a mail….and I thought…well…I might just need such a service!! Hence, I decided to write a review on the site and let all our friends know of this beautiful site.

What it is

This site is a good example of a single idea, good execution. Its very simple, DiarySmart.com allows you to maintain a Birthday Book online, where in one can store as many birthdays of as many friends as you like. You can also decide on events too which you want to keep track…the one universal event which site reminds you off is the Valentine’s Day!

How it works

There are two ways of entering your friends/relatives/etc. birthday’s in your account. One method is conventional method of entering your friend’s birthday by filling out their details….and you gotta fill details for each one of your friends. One part I didn’t like was that you have to fill the last name of your friend…which is difficult for me to remember! The second method of entering birthday’s is let your friend do it! You can send a mail to your friends, asking them to fill in their birthday details themselves for you. The mail sent to them contains the link to your account, and your friends can update your account for you…this method is certainly more inviting than the first.

Services

Nothing extravagant here, but has the basic service which reminds you of your friends birthdays. You can set the reminder to 14 days, 7 days, 1 days or on the day itself to remind of their birthday. There is some Gift option too, which I didn’t check out. The other services which they are planning to offer in future include SMS text reminder, Multi-language services and something called wish list, though I couldn’t comprehend what it does.

Layout and Speed

The layout of the site is simple and inviting. There aren’t too many details, but ones that are, are laid beautifully, without complicating things. Every function is easily accessible, and you don’t have to search for them. The speed of the site is also very good, and loading time is fast. I believe, speed is a important factor for a website to succeed and Diarysmart doesn’t fail on this!

Overall

This is certainly a great site for people who are on the move or constantly spend their time on the net. It is particularly helpful to those who forget birthdays and other events too, like I managed to do! All in all, a great site, and hopefully, the site should become popular with time. Do check it out pals!

Happy visiting!
