*Introduction
I was on the look out for a good TV with few latest features and in my budget of less than
RS8000. I basically like Samsung very much. As usual the shope keepers were confusing me and
they were telling the one which gives them better margin as the best. I was looking between
Phillips, LG. I didnot want to go for Sony as it was very costly. Haeir was newly launched
and was priced very less and also Next a Videocon product was priced @ RS5000.
Now picking up a TV is as tough as choosing a girl to marry these days. Since they
have all the big brands in one row you can see ‘em playing the same channel and drool on the
looks till you see the price tags and move to your left leftest the cheapest – and rightest
would be the expensivest – so the more you get inside the showroom – the more they go deep
down your pockets. I then decided myself to Samsung which is my personal favourite.
Looks: It’s a flat 21” with a silver panel, if you see it from front – I am sure you
can’t tell if it’s a flat TV or a LCD on the first look, Silver panel makes it very simple.
Size: It is not as huge as olden days TV, nor sleek as LCD TV's. It looks compact,
simple and fits any TV rack.
Function wise:
*Plug & Play:
* I think I choose the right thing, it has an option called plug and
play, that means just fit in the cable, click on plug and play, go and have a coke and a
pizza if you feel hungry. By the time you finish these things – it has already installed all
your channels and is ready to go. Manual installation is also there so you can choose your
personal favorites and save them in a line.
*Sound Mode:
Change the sound settings to Stereo; keep all music channels on Turbo
Sound to have a terrific bass effect and you are ready to Rock. Also there are 5 sound modes
(Standard, Custom, Speech, Movie and Music) With the Speech mode Sound Clarity is so good
that even Ar Rehman songs lyrics can be heard. News channels and daily Soaps can be kept on
Speech mode, Movie channels on Movie mode and songs on Music mode.
Picture Mode:
The picture is very good, actually crystal clear since it has a
feature called DNIE. Again here there are 5 picture modes (Standart, Mild, Natural, Sports,
Movie) and you have the option to change based on the channel you are viewing.
Remote: The look of the remote is compact and stylish. The buttons are very soft. It
comes with 2 good batteries and it came for 7months.
*Timer:
It comes with a build in timer of 30minutes and once you set the timer it
gets automatically switched off. The timer cound have been every 15minutes instead of 30
minutes. Also you don’t do anything to the TV for about 3 hrs and it will assume that either
you are not there or you are dead and will shut down automatically. Your cable Walla stops
the signals as you didn’t bothered to pay the bill for the month and TV will switch off in
10 minutes of signal failure automatically. Screen goes blank and produces no sound in case
nothing is coming or you are trying to install something in between two channels, doesn’t
makes that annoying hissing sound. Also this saves power.
Other Options :
Channel Scan, Off timer On timer, on screen Display, Clock, Signal
Strength, Child Lock, Swapping Channels etc.
Game:
It comes with 2 inbuild game which kids like me will enjoy.
My Recommendation – Go for it till the LCDs and Plazmas come down a little.
- Thank You! We appreciate your effort.
