I had a vsnl account for a very long time since the dial-up days with some e-mail address .@vsnl.com. This is a paid service in these days of free e-mail accounts and not only that, they provide only 5 MB free storage space and you have to buy more space.
They have the most complicated web-site and it will really take Sherlock Holmes to find out how to change the mail box size and switch off services that you don't require.
Above all these, they have mastered the art of fleecing unsuspecting customers. For example, if you have your account renewal due say on 1st January 2011, they will start sending mails 3 months before, i.e on 1st October itself and if you just pay online the account will be instantly renewed from that date and so you loose the 3 months subscription.
Furthermore, they will deduct money for automatically introducing some night free offer and so on, and if you try to deactivate this facility only the entire account gets deactivated. Once it gets deactivated, you cannot receive or send e-mails. It has happened with me and I am yet to receive a response to my e-mail complaint even after several hours.
Tata Indicom is undoubtedly a'chor'(sorry for the language) and one should steer clear of it. It is a shame that such a company has a'Tata' name.
