MTDC Beach Resort, Ganpatipule Reviews

Rooms not to the mark
Apr 16, 2024 02:56 PM 79 Views

Booked sea facing room no 1 by paying 14500/ for three days.

The AC flap was missing and the blow of air was on bed, due to which we got health issue. When asked the so called one man show at the reception, we were told that few days back it is being removed but MTDC did not bother to replace the AC flap which is a important part to control direct impact of cool air on human body. The MD of MTDC should stay in that room without flap.POOR management.

The cafeteria/canteen works for limited duration & nothing is available near the room. Suggest to provide Coffee/tea maker in the room. The room being at the corner, had no AIRTEL connectivity.

Except the claening staff was sincere and

I booked villa with deck no.3 with AC on Thursday 6th July 2023. Frequent electricity failure and no automatic generator backup. No intercom in room. So I have to call on mobile. At 7 am somebody rang d bell for asking room number. Pathetic. Not able to relax at all. Not able to sleep in d afternoon and not at night bcoz of electricity failure. No inverter for fan or light. Canteen is not good at all. Even coffee was not available. Just imagine. I called at d reception at least 10 times for electricity failure. At night 11.30, 1.30, 4 am, 6 am

This resort is just on the beachfront and is one of the premises property of. It has direct access to the beach which is the biggest point. The Internal and External appearance of hotel was good.

Rooms are fine and well maintained with all requirement amenities in the working condition. There are variety of room suck as deluxe, semi deluxe or more but price of all the rooms were reasonable and affordable.

The Reception and front office service is good as there were no delay in check in and check out. service staff was very helpful and co operative.

Food and drinks provided by hotel was good. They serve both veg and nov-veg food. Complementary breakfast was not provided in the hotel.

Pathetic restaurant
Dec 17, 2015 10:01 PM 17534 Views

The restaurant or should I say the canteen at MTDC resort is nothing short of a hostel mess where the food quality is horrible and the canteen management is equally terrible. They serve food inside the rooms as if we are being favored upon. No spoons, plates, etc. It was only after my wife complained that somebody sent two steel plates and cups. The canteen, oops the restaurant seems to thrive on house flies.

I am shuddering two even order a bottle of mineral water over here.

Excellent Location, disappointing Resort
Oct 16, 2015 10:24 AM 21901 Views

Knowing MTDC resorts belong to Government, I did not expect much from these resorts, however its the location because of which I had to book this place during our last trip to Ganpatipule.

I have stayed here on two occasions, once a few years back in the Konkani huts and the next, recently in their AC deluxe rooms. During our last trip, they mentioned the entire area where they had Konkani huts is being renovated.

Location:This has been the USP of all MTDC resorts, almost all their resorts are at an exotic location. With this one being no different -  is right on the beach. While previously Konkani huts offered a much better proximity to the beach and a better sea-view, the other cottages, deluxe rooms are a bit away from the beach.

Rooms/Ambiance: With no konkani huts option, this time we were left with AC/Non-AC deluxe rooms. We booked an AC deluxe room. The condition of the room was pathetic with paint peeling off and the ageing of the construction could be easily noticed, about to retire furniture, windows, doors, beds, sheets and everything else looked - just waiting to give way.

Rooms are equipped with basic needs Bed, AC, wardrobe and washroom, telephone. No wi-fi, kettle, and other amenities like hair dryer etc. They smelled murky and an air freshener had to be used.

Surrounding is nice, they have developed the property and kept it clean.

Restaurant/Bar: The resort has its own restaurant, which was fully packed and we had to wait for long to get a table (may be it was crowded because of the Ganesh Sankashti on that day). Food was average, since it was so crowded and everybody was in contention to get their orders delivered fast, we stayed happy with whatever minimum we could get. Nothing more to comment on the food, service - it was a messy affair.

I don't think, there was any room service.

Reservation: MTDC resorts can be booked only through their site or a direct check-in. C-in/c-out: 10 AM. Parking: Plenty within the resort premises.

Price: Exorbitant - only because of the shabby state their rooms are in. We paid 3000 for a night. Breakfast is included in the room price.

AC/Power problems: We booked an AC room, especially because of the summer season, but soon after we checked in the AC stopped working. When we contacted reception, they said someone would be sent to check the same. After waiting for some time, I decided to walk to their front-desk (which, BTW is  quite a walk from the room). At the reception, I was told there is load-shedding in Ganpatipule, which came to me as a shock and I was furious that the hotel is taking customer bookings for AC rooms while they are aware of this problem. When I made some noise, they asked me to speak to the resort manager. After listening to me, he called in someone and asked to start the generator. I am not sure, when they had the facility why did they trouble the guests.

Overall, a waste of money! It's best to avoid this place, it's a below-average hotel, with location being the only plus.

A true stopover to Goa
Jun 12, 2015 04:25 PM 22141 Views

We visited MTDC Ganpatiphule as a stopover to Goa but ended up staying 2 extra nights here. Frankly this could be the best MTDC property I have been to.

Excellent location for quick morning jog on the beach as well as evening stroll. Very very close to the beach.

Although I preferred Annapurna for seafood and Joshis for veg.

We would recommend cottages instead of the Konkani huts!

All in all a great stay.

Awesome Experience
Dec 25, 2013 02:27 PM 10679 Views

I had my own apprehensions, after hearing from my friends about the MTDC and how it is being managed. However all the concerns were over once we reached the place. The location is just amazing. It is less than a stone's throw away from both Ganapati Mandir and the beach.

I even visited courtyard and although it is equally good, it is too far away from the main city and the temple, beach. MTDC resort is managed very professionally. We reached there at 9 AM and although the checking time was 10.30, the staff ensured that we were comfortable in wait.

We had a choice to choose the rooms and they were very clean and spacious. The service was quick and staff was courteous.

The food in restaurant is average but you have options outside as well. Children enjoyed the chess, carom as well as the coconut trees and even three days seems to be too short for the visit.

Already planning for the next one.

“Extremely relaxing experience”
Oct 27, 2011 01:52 AM 13921 Views

I had been to MTDC Ganpatipule in April 2011. The location of the resort  is excellent. No other location could have been better as the resort is  right on the beach. We were staying at the Super Deluxe Rooms/Cottages,  which was facing the beach. The view from the balcony and the room was  breath taking! It was an amazing experience sitting in the balcony and  sipping coffee in the morning.

The rooms and the bathroom were  clean. The bedsheets and the blankets were also clean. Th staff was  quite diligent about cleaning the room everyday.

The resort has 2  restaurants, one is by the beach and the other one is near the  reception. The food is decent and quite reasonable. But definitely not a  great culinary experience!

The resort is right on the beach and it  seems more like a private beach. The beach is white sand and extremely  beautiful and very clean.

You can lounge on the beach for hours gazing at the sea or just sit on the beach and read a book.

The beach is safe to swim only during the high tide. Avoid swimming during low tide.

There  isn't much to do at Ganpatipule. You can visit the famous Ganesh temple  which is right outside the MTDC resort. No scope for shopping! There  are water sports at the resort.

All in all a very relaxing  experience! I have enjoyed my stay at MTDC Ganpatipule a lot and  definitely would like to go there again!

Room Tip: Super Deluxe rooms or the suite would be the best  option. Avoid the Konkani Houses. If your budget is low go for Deluxe  rooms. Please avoid NON AC rooms and ensure you stay only at the AC  rooms. Staying in NON Ac rooms will ruin your stay!

Mumbai India
The best beach side resort by MTDC
Mar 17, 2010 03:30 PM 13387 Views

MTDC Ganpatipule is one of the best sea side resorts which are well maintained and serve good food. The mandir is very close to the resorts, and the beach is almost like a private beach with restaurant also on the beach where u can order veg, non-veg and drinks too. If you really like beach then I will suggest go for Konkani hut. Also if you are really tate conscious go for a restaurant "Sameer" located near the mandir which serves delicious fish food.

Also try to do a complete pradakshina of mandir which is almost 1/2 a KM. An ideal stay for 2-3days with friends and family....! dont miss this one!

Ganpatipule....... Heaven on Earth
Nov 17, 2009 04:47 PM 12871 Views

The beach here is still as natural and pristine as ever.clean blue sea water and the white sand. And traveling by roads is an experience by itself.

MTDC has the best location on the beach and the Sea view Konkani cottages . at around Rs.1800 /day is the most reasonable option . with a nice cosy room .

Route:

The best route is. Pune - Satara  - Umbraj(before Karad) [NH4]

from Umbraj take right to Patan - Koyananagar - kumbharli ghat (second most difficult ghat in the Sahyadri ranges after the Varandha ghat) - phopali - Chiplun [Bypass from NH4 to NH17]-

[NH17 towards Goa]chiplun - Sangameshwar - 5 KM before Hathkhamba(one can see mile stone) [Nivali phata]right turn to Ganpatipule 32 KM

.it  is most beatiful route  I ever seen.If you plan to travel from pune.Enjoy driving with beautiful nature.

The best places near to it - Malgund, jaigad fort

Excellent beach resort
Oct 05, 2009 05:43 PM 12528 Views

The MTDC beach resort is unquestionably the best resort at Ganapatipule. It's situated bang on the beach. No other property offers this advantage.

We stayed in the AC Seaview Cottage. (Book early. On line. There are only 4 such cottages) It's more than a room. It's a suite - with a large bedroom, dressing room, a well equipped modern bathroom, and a large attached terrace. The suite is also equipped with a fridge.

The room has large bay windows looking directly out on the beach and the waves. And the terrace is skirting the beach. The ambience from our room was awesome!

The resort is spread over acres and acres and even when it is packed, one has the sense of space and serenity. The overall upkeep of the resort is decent. (But of course MTDC can improve it if they wish to be a superior resort mamager!)

The famed Ganapati temple is just a stone's throw away right next to the resort!.

And therefore, taking all this into consideration, we found our room rate of Rs.2, 300 for this type of cottage to be very good value for money. The Non-AC deluxe rooms at Rs.1100 per night, were also quite good and fantastic value for money.

The only negatives, and our suggestions to MTDC are:

  1. The bed linen could be cleaner.

  2. The single restaurant is probably given on contract to an outsider, whose food quality and service need to be substantially improved.

  3. During peak hours, the restaurant also does not have sufficient seating, leading to long waits. MTDC definitely needs to build another restaurant as there is more than enough space, and to ensure that the restaurant is at least 3-Star quality.

  4. Rooms did not have any cups, glasses, for bed tea, drinks, etc. A simple device like an electric kettle with tea/coffee bags provided, would increase the value to the tourists immediately. (I hope some MTDC officials read this and take action)

In sum, I would love to return to this place and hope that the tourism officials will have made these minor but vital improvements by then!

(Incidentally Mouthshut should clasify this entry as MTDC, Ganapatipule and not TDC, Ganapatipule)
