ATTN YOUNAS KHAN, KAMAL SHARMA, RENU BANSAL, NIMMI MISHRA

This is a letter to Patravalli, regarding VIvidh Bharati

I cannot wriite fluent Hindi, but Vividh Bharati is my lifeline. No television for me, only two newspapers a day, online news and Vividh Bharati.

The team at Vividh Bharati deserves at least a Padma Bhushan for the rich and varied wholesome entertainment. Younas Khan, Kamal Sharma, Renu Bansal, Nimmi Mishra, are just great. Younos Khan's research is outstanding.

Pls read out this letter on your AIR programme as I want all listeners to know how deserving you four are of the nation's highest recognition. Vividh Bharati compared to FM channels tell you of the difference between sound and noise!

Only one complain - the reception is not clear. for a top AND FAVOURITE channel, it should be the clearest.

The Station Director,

All India Radio,

Vivdh Bharati,

Mumbai.

Dear Sir,

Re: Vivdhbharati Program – 9th August, 2010.

I am a regular listener and fan of Vivdhbharati. I appreciate the presentation of program and selection of songs according to time and importance. There cannot be any competition to Vivdhbharati.

Incidentally on 9th August, 2010 at about 11.10 p.m. I was listening to touching film songs on Vivdhbharati, one particular song which I have never heard before, touched my heart. The words were “mai sagar tu kinaara….”

The song was so beautiful that I went in a trance! I could not note the singer, musician and picture of the song.

On 10th August, I had requested for the details of the song and I was told that the song is from film “Sankalp” and sung by Ms. Lataji, but the information received by me is not correct and the words of the song from film “Sankalp” is “Tu sagar hai to hi kinaara”

Kindly provide me details of song “Tu sagar mai kinaara…”

I know that I am giving you trouble but. ‘Vivdhbharati’ is known to satisfy its admirers!

Thanking you,

Yours truly,

(Suhas P. Shaligram)

Listener's delight!

I have been listening to Vividh Bharati(VB)for years. It is the most neat and clean radio service I have ever heard and has rare collection of songs, interviews and recordings. These folks are celebrating their golden jubilee this year.Just imagine a radio station running for last 50 years and these babies like Radio mirchis are nothing in front of them in quality as well as collections.

VB starts at 5.55 am with programmes like Vandanvar and Bhakti sangeet.Soon it breaks out into news at 8 am and later on phone in programmes and film songs based shows which are from local VB stations.

It stops at 11am and resumes at 12 pm with suhana safar, recent series which features music directors. After that mostly request based, favorite evergreen songs and classical music show Anuranjani comes followed by ladies show Sakhi saheli.

The most admired shows are under Pitara which features health show Sehatnama, sargam ke sitare, hamare mehman and celluloid ke sitare which showcase singers, filmstars etc.It again stops at 5.30pm and starts again at 6.15 pm featuring shows for soldiers that is jaimala, much famous drama series hawamahal and very endearing Chhayageet. It ends with aap ki farmaish at 11pm.VB has lately become 24 hours on short wave, but I wish it becomes 24 hrs on medium wave too and hopefully FM too in smaller cities.

Announcers like Kamal sharma and Mamta Singh have great voices. They have so many announcers and everyone is great from Nimmi Mishra to Renu Bansal to name a few.

I hope VB goes another 100 years like this and these guys are highest on radio popularity ratings.Truly, its a listener's delight.

Thanks for reading my review.

It is my great pleasure that form my young age arround 1060 I am listening this Radio Station it was only available on SW (Short Wave) and have limited time for transmission. In those days what we listening, no announcer name was announced but at the time of drama or Hawa Mashal we try to recognized them.

But after so many years now, it changes and it has great change in it presentation. All the Udghoshak ( now RJ) are experts in all the field, I like mainly Kanchan Prakash Sangeet, Kamal Sharma (Great laughing Style), Sehnajji, Lokendra Sharma (Nice Filmography) and mainly all.

Vividh Bharti have mainly all types of Songs and they play on Records (78 era, 45 & 33 which gives original sound reproduction/interviews on magnetic tapes and great archives. I prefer to listen old around 1930 to 1950 records. I wish they should sale such archive on CDs/DVDs for its lovers.

Long live Vividh Bharati.

A honest try- but no match

Working as a software engineer, I seldom had spare time except on saturdays and sundays. Music can be the best source of entertainment for most of them. But as it is hyderabad is starved of good FM Radio channels. VividhBharathi was the sole FM channel some time ago. But then suddenly one more channel caught my ears. It was AIR FM Rainbow. To start with the channel has a good sound clarity and reception as is with all FM channels. But the gross mismanagement of the channel makes it uninteresting to listen.

The RJs of the channel lack professional attitude and are often found to immitate their counter-parts in other FM channels. They are not at all soothing to the ears. One doesn't feel like hearing to them. Moreover, in programms where the viewers are to select their songs, the RJ for some reason or other never listens to the request and if he does never accepts it. On the contrary he plays the songs of his own choice. The songs which are played are not full. Infact most of the songs are half played and the rest is killed. This is indeed very frustrating. Music does not deserve this.

Most of the times RJs talk and songs are very less. Moreover, the songs of new films are never played, no even on requests. But due to lone FM channel it enjoys a monopoly in some cities. The RJs find repeating themselves and often end up doing bloopers.

All in all an honest attempt by AIR to launch a channel for the young generation and compete with other channels, but it has found it self far too behind.

VIVIDH BHARATHI, remain's the best!

VIVIDH BHARATI (102.90 mhZ) is one of the oldest radio stations, and the only one which has been coming from so long and yet it has still maintained its overall quality. There is lot of variety of programn on VIVIDH BHARATHI, there is something for everyone, young or old.

From the time I have been listening to VIVIDH BHARATHI, I have been addicted to it, infact it won't be an exaggeration to say that I associate RADIO with VIVIDH BHARATHI! It was because of VB that I bought a all new radio\transister long time back.

I feel listening to radio has its own charm, and if you really start enjoying it, you would feel that there is no better friend than the radio, it stays with you all the time and also entertains you and brings a smile to your face. There was a time when AMIN SAYANI used to host a programn on VB called BINACA GEET MALA, where he used to tell about the 25 hit songs ruling the charts at that time, and it was such a popular programme (can call the KBC of those times) that everybody used to listen to it, without fail.

How I started listening to VB: Well when I was a kid, Ii used to see all my cousins listening to it, in their free times, at that time I use to find it boring, but eventually when I started appreciating music, I started liking the programmes, and the music which was played on it. And than there came a time when I was so fascinated BY VB,that it kind of became my constant companion.

Why I love VB SO MUCH...I feel there is a kind of old world charm to it, there is so much simplicity in its presentation and also that they have got the best collection of old songs, which makes me love this RADIO STATION(its unadulterated entertainment). Also I get to listen very good hindi\urdu in the programnes of VB....................as it is a purely hindi RS, for the masses. Everyone from a poor man can enjoy it.That is the beauty of VIVIDH BHARATHI,has not changed all this while, even with the coming of these modern radio station.

Host, of VIVIDH BHARATHI are also very good. There is certain warmth and lovable quality which makes you connect with them. They also address their viewers in a very friendly way.

I like a lot of the host on VB, but my all time favourite is amin sayani, he has a unique way of speaking, has great knowlede about music....................and has a brilliant voice, great diction and pronunciation, which is so important for radio jockey'S.

Nimmi Mishra is also very good............she presents Chaya geet well.

What I also love about vividh bharathi IS THAT THEY have a programn for all occasions, like DIWALI, HOLI, RAKSHA BANDHAN, REPUBLIC DAY, SHIVRATRI, CHRISTMAS.

They will also play beautiful songs for these festivals. Like I live in Bangalore, where most of these festivals are not celebrated, so VB keeps me connected to all these festivals, and I feel kind of at home when I listen to their special presentation. Also there are some prorammes on VB, which are very knowledgeable, they educate you - like sometimes they will invite a doctor or some specialist who will tell you about something which you may not be knowing.

Now coming to the progrmmes. They have a set of some of the best progrmnes on RADIO.FAUZI BHAIYYO KE LIYE, TRIVENI, CHAYAGEET, HAWA MAHAL, SAKHI SAHELI, HELLO FARMAISH, AAP KI FARMAISH, PATRAVALLI, MANTHAN. All are great to listen. This is what I call variety. And here I have only listed my favourite programmes, there are a lot other programmes too.

So overall VIVIDH BHARATHI is a great RADIO STATION and should be listened by all, coz it provides unlimited entertainment. And I don't feel that VB cannot be listened by the young people, when there are so many FM radio stations, even I am young but still I enjoy it, coz I feel that heir quality is second to none. And if you love old hindi songs, you will not get to listen better collection than what is played on VB.

VIVIDH BHARATHI RULES!

Good old vividhbharati

In this modern world of technology and scienec everything is changing and changing fast. but if there is one thing that has stood its ground and still survived its the good old vividhbharti. yes vividhbharti, the radio station that can make any old guy a nostalgic moment to spare a tear. and off course after that u could without a doubt hear the same thing u been hearing from him-''aah those were the days'' and yet somehow u dont get the same irritation. thats vividhbharti for u. be it the old songs, sweet talking hosts, the ever popular chitralok or the funny mini plays, vividhbharti has always been in the heart of the common public . every morning u wake up hearing the sweet sound of bhajan and end the day listening to songs which people like us want to hear.

but that does not mean that its a station for 50 and above. the station is still sucessfull in attracting the generation x with programes like chitra lok and indian idol. yes u heard me right indian idol!. they air indian idols edited recorded version every weekend morning. but the most aspect of this station is their special way of saying that they care. y else would people keep trying for weeks just to hear a stupid song and talk to the host? if they want they they can just buy the whole album but thats not what they want. hearing ur song in radio is different , its special.

Music to the ears!
Apr 09, 2005 01:21 PM 5703 Views

Back in the days when television didn't exist, many of the elders in our country were tuned in to the magical voice of Ameen Sayani of Binaca Geet Mala fame. His command over the language and powerful expression, gripped the best of a number of people in that generation. Sad, that many of us in the generation next, missed out catching the great man in action, live on radio.

But there is no need to fret. The Vividhbharathi channel on the All India Radio channel, airs some phenomenal programmes on old Hindi film songs. Three of them have held my attention in all my growing years for the best part of two and a half decades - Manchahegeet at 1.30p.m.Aap ki Farmaish at 2.30p.m. and Chayageet at 10 p.m. And they have only gotten better with time. The most striking features of these three great programmes for me, would be:

1.Excellent choice of songs.

2.Fantastic sense of occasion

3.Very, very Indian and nationalistic

4.Anchors have such a soothing voice that it cools the best of tempers, almost!

5.The geographical reach for these programmes is quite unparalleled have heard people sending in requests for songs from as far as Arunachal Pradesh!

6.Requests for songs come through postcards and letters, even in this day of ''digital energy'', though there are traces of emails, these days, but not significant enough.

7.The recordings and songs played are all original track and not hashed with remixed flavours.

8.People of all ages send in requests.

9.The timing of these programmes matches anybody's requirements, but I like it best on a Sunday afternoon at 1.30p.m,lying down in my bed with the Manchahegeet programme on, right after an early lunch! But Vividhbharati understands the stress of modern working lives and hence offers Chayageet at 10p.m. everyday! Its so soothing to hear the songs at this time of the night, after a hard day's work! Who says AIR doesn't understand its customers needs?

10.The sound quality is universally good either on a big stereo, a Dolby, a pocket radio or a walkman with radio.

These 3 programmes provide a fantastic opportunity to revisit, revel and regale audiences who truly appreciate old Hindi music of the legends. I mean, just imagine a Salil Chowdhury musical composition with Lata Mangeshkar's voice on a nice, warm Sunday afternoon! Or for that matter, anytime!

The programme, Aap ki Farmaish, goes a a step further than requests, by sequencing the context in which the songs are to be played, with apt quotes and polite anecdotes by the anchors.

For those music lovers who value old Hindi songs, especially of the period 1950-1990,listening to these terrific programmes on Vividhbharathi, will surely satiate the appetite. I have begun to carry my pocket radio to office now....! These 3 magical programmes really are, music to the ears!
