This is your average flip phone. Nothing out of the ordinary here. Many of today phones will blow these thing away in terms of features and designs. Good looks but troublesome

Don't u like a Flap model in a cell phone...to tell u why not and who doesnt like to improve his or her prestige by having a colour display and a flap model and also having net access through that cell phone is just an awesome feeling....Even I felt the same and I purchased a GTRAN-GCP 4020 a very smart,handy model to use but .......my days with this cell phone were very less.


This cell phone works well when fully charged and if u use it very carefully and also when there is enough time with u to invest behind it....


After a few days ,say 15 days or so, this cell phone started giving a charger problem,its charger was not working fine,i tried to charge it at 8 to 10 pin points but no response from my cell phone charger....So I went to my nearest Reliance Webworld and u wont believe what they said ....they said that they had 2 to 3 GTRAN models pending with them whose complaints were launched but still the phones were as they were left for exchange...no reaction from the company GTRAN and also from Reliance...They also were trying to feedback me why did u buy this cell phone and its ok if u can sell it and take a new one...This made me so rude and bugged that I started fighting with them as I had not received a gift from MR.Anil Ambani ..it was my Dad's hard earned money..i could not see it going like this!!!


Still I tried to go to some more webworlds and for my surprise this was the same suggestion they all offered me as a punishment to buy this phone....so very disgusting hai na....U r advising ur own customer as to why did u buy our phone??? so very sick man!!!!


Then I was asked to go to the service centre at Andheri Marol and they again gifted me with an heart attack ....they said that they do not produce spare parts and they cannot even repair it as the charger is irreparable....They too advised me to sell this phone...arrreeee but who will buy this cell without a charger??IS there any person in this world who can buy a cell phone without a charger...Please do tell me if u know.


I finally decided to complain to Reliance customer care but as usual just the formality of lodging a decent complaint and assuring me help...No hopes,No relief..


Then I finally thought of complaining to the Chairman of Reliance Infocomm MR.Anil Ambani through their website relianceinfocomm.comm and tried my luck...there were very rare chances of my complaint getting heard but still.......


To my surprise next day I got a call from their assistant as to what the matter was and to my relief I was assured a replacement to this cell phone but not Nokia or LG but the same model as they said that they have modified the new model...


Something was better than nothing......and while I was handed over the replaced hand piece I was again told unofficially that u can sell it till it is new and he can even help me with the references.


Men..... this was a whole lot of journey I went through so I would suggest not to go for it unless u have very good reports about any product....Like me dont go for prestigious things go for quality....


I finally sold the cell for a very bad deal but travelling through this journey had left me helpless...Today I own Nokia 2112 which is very small ,not prestigious but very satisfactory................


SO PLEASE LOOK BEFORE U LEAP!!!!

Provides Highest value for money

If you want to go in for a colour handset without Camera, GTRAN 4020 is simply the best and it provides highest value for money.


Color handset with 65000 color


No problems with battery the phone comes with 2 batteries and I think it really does need 2 batteries.As far as the charging issue goes, the new phone needs to be charged 12 hrs for the first 2 nights and thereon for 3-3.5 hours daily. It really does take a long time to get charged. The battery life is ok. If you use normally it lasts for 2 days. But if ur a R WORLD (surfing, games, images, mms) freak like me, then it lasts max for a day. So thats one negative aspect about the phone.


Well its the only phone by reliance which can be customised for ringtones and images & phonebook using a cable. You cant do the same with a LGor samsung colour handset. So full points to GTRAN for that.


Memory:It has a very decent memory capacity : 1.5 mb -> Its more than enough for loads of polyphonic ringtones, images and stuff. The phone book has 300 x 5 capacity which is ok


Ringtone volume is high, much better than other polyphonic phones like Nokia 6610 that I had b4.you can downlaod many midi songs from the net and make them as a ringtone


Care must be taken only used 50-70 kb midi files are full length rich sounding songs which are good enough to be set as ringtones

Thinking of a color handset that has it all? 65K colors, camera, flap phone, incredible earpiece(loud enough to almost act like a hands free),2 batteries, “ it has it all sir” that’s what the proud executive boasted about just when one is already puzzled with the number of handsets and offers available with reliance.


If u really want to know the phone itself is pretty good design from a company no one’s heard of, and it really feels good to shut and open the flap in style or anger every once in a while. Amazing phone with simple easy to use navigation keys, the keyboard layout is average and menu categories and subcategories do take a little time to get use to. Simple and elegant is not something that the color scheme and font’s have been able to achieve ( everything is in bright colors! Even the fonts. the design of the hands free is particularly something that I was amazed and should get a nomination for uniqueness and quality.The charger has a unique port so if you travel out do definitely remember to take the charger along or even better always remember to carry it around primarily because even with 2 fully charged batteries with you it is almost certain that by the time one comes back home both of them are drained out!!.


Yes if u have not guessed it yet let me impress you with the figures, after using this phone for about 8 months my current standby time is just about 6 rings( without being on vibrator mode), and if I open the flap the screen takes up almost all that juice from the batteries resulting in one desperately looking for a plug point to connect the charger to not to mention loosing the call due to phone shutdown. If by any chance you are out( and that Is where you intend to use a mobile phone) the hands free really comes in handy giving a talk time of about 2 minutes, just enough to convey the message across that I am looking for a plug point with my charger in hand and to make the conversation quick and to the point before the call disconnects. Anyhow for those people who have this handset I truly understand what they might go through.


but hey look on the bright side… for those who have a problem putting down the phone this is kind of a good feature, the handset is best for those who need to force cut down on phone bills (added advantage) not that you can make any!! With standby time of 2 hours and talk time of 30 seconds. The case might be different with others varying battery results, but that too would be a max of 4-6 hours standby and 10-15mins of talk time…. So if u are about to choose this handset even after reading the figures… my advice ''go right ahead and buy it''.

Anyhow with no review anywhere and just the executive’s word to trust on I did buy GTRAN GCP4020, and So even after reading these figures if u are about to choose this handset … then you should really take the phone as it must be the wife who must have made the choice.

I am not a professional analyst of handsets but I am writing this review with a selfish desire that some reader will provide or help me to get solution to problems faced by me, while using this handset. Till date I have used GTRAN-GCP4020 for about 2 months. I am using this handset on network of Reliance India Mobile. I will analyze handset on the basis of features enlisted on various websites:




  1. Camera External Camera with 100K Pixel Resolution




Camera has very poor resolution a new camera will be very useful.




  1. PC sync for Managing e-Book, Phonebook, Schedule, SMS, Melody, Picture, and Photo album from Camera




Phone book Sync is not a real sync. You can save only received SMS on PC. Doesn?t support sending SMS typed on PC.




  1. Wireless modem (Data speed up to 153.6kbps on packet data service )




Sometimes fails on Windows XP but works very fine on other operating Systems.




  1. 2 way SMS




It has memory of 1.44 MB but can save only 17 messages in inbox. Read and write of SMS doesn?t support word wrap feature. So its very difficult to read SMS. SMS appears as shown:

It?s the only handset I have ever seen without word wrap feature for SMS.




  1. Various games




Have only two inbuilt games. More games can be added but how, nobody knows.

Conclusion


Phone is an excellent built. It has many interesting features. What it requires is a software upgrade. Better to say it very badly requires a software upgrade. It will be the best choice if it has SMS software of Samsung SCH- N191 and Dictionary of LGRD2030.


If someone knows the solution to problems which I have enlisted here please provide me a solution here.

: Being an Engineer I was looking for a phone that gives me best. After purchasing GTRAN GCP4020 let me see what I have.




  1. 65K color screen




  2. Midi ringtones downloadable from net free of cost.




  3. MMS




  4. Wireless Modem




  5. UFB Ultra Fine Brightness LCD




  6. Voice as well as text memo




  7. And all other features like Java games and etc etc.






I can go for whole day praising my Gtran Phone and continue afresh in the morning. Wow !! Awesome !! Mindblowing !! And if this was not sufficient Li- polymer battery.


To be very frank I had initially problems with battery. but then I charged it with


Travel Charger for straight 12 hours discharged it and did the same for 10 times. IM getting talk time of 144 minutes. Isnt that great.


Plus the camera. Wht a resolution. Now thatz what I call a complete phone


And the best part is its warranty policy. If there is any problem in the phone you get a new one in exchange.
