Excellent product by apple

The PowerBook G4 is a strong performer for creating digital videos, editing digital photographs, ripping CDs, and watching DVDs. The large screen is also wonderful for DVD movies. The PowerBook is expensive compared to PC equivalents and the new Intel models are faster

Worst Apple laptop manufactured ever
Dec 19, 2017 12:25 PM

I have been a great fan of laptops and this laptop is a disappointment for me .

Don't why apple manufactured this product because this isn't the demand of users.

This product is quite outdated and please don't buy it.

The display is as good as any other laptop. The processor isn't fast and it takes time to open the applications. It seems to me that it gets confused with what it has to do. And even you end up scratching your own head that why are you wasting time on this system.

The battery span is not long you may have to keep the charger connected to it for most of the time.

Even Apple service centre people avoid getting this because its spare parts aren't easily available in market if you have them damaged.

Forget entertainment in this laptop.

Technology needs to be updated for the user and this isn't. A wise user will avoid buying it.

Apple Powerhouse G4
Jul 16, 2017 01:59 PM

Apple Powerbook G4 is the last notebook series to use the Power Pc Processor which is instruction set architecture developed by Apple. The case designs are made up of either titanium or aluminium which are thin and light. The weight approximately is 2.5 kgs which is thin and light and can be carried easily without any problems. The Ram is 512 Mb and memory speed is 333Mhz which makes it quick and reliable, and user freindly. It's a supercomputer to go as far as execution, yet it's more slender and beautiful than the best subnotebooks. Another add on is the Gigabit Ethernet which made these computers work even quicker and faster and was termed as one of the best machines ever produced by the CEO.

The titanium used was unfortunately not right it would chip chip off and the powerbook usually looked like an old rugged machine. The design was also not proper the lid would come off easily and the Apple company had to think about an alternative. To modern eyes it might, just look like one generic laptop but the machines that Apple produced way back in time was pretty good.It wont be able to handle the websites which is full of flash and videos on youtube but even then value for money is 3/5 I would say.Apple company provides Protection plan for upto 3 years so service and support is very good.We can easily protect our Mac by just following the steps given in their protection plan.

Apple powerbook G4

Apple G4 powerbook is the one of the costly laptop available in Indian market. This laptop has a small screen having great resolution for watching HD movies in it. The processor on this laptop is also too much good for playing high graphics games in it without any problem. You will get a clear camera with this laptop. There are regular updates of software coming on this laptop. The keypad given on this laptop is also in a good for typing so long. But the reason I dislike this laptop is due to its higher price range this laptop is very costly on India so don't buy.

Very nice lock very

Buying a laptop typically demands certain trade-offs, but with the beautifully designed thin-and-light 15-inch PowerBook G4, there's no need to compromise: it delivers portability, performance, and a 15.2-inch(diagonal) display that's great for graphics work, watching DVDs, and just about anything else. Like the 17-inch PowerBook G4, this 15-inch model includes features such as a scrolling trackpad and a Sudden Motion Sensor that protects the hard drive when the laptop is dropped. In addition, the 15-inch PowerBook G4 is among the new fleet of Macs running on Mac OS X Tiger, and it ships with the iLife'05 software suite. Though the excellent software package adds significant value, on a pure hardware basis, the PowerBook G4 comes at a premium: a similarly configured ThinkPad T43, for example, costs$500 less.

The Apple PowerBook's sleek aluminum shell is hard to miss, and the 15-inch model has particularly pleasing dimensions. Measuring just 1.1 inches thick, 13.7 inches wide, and 9.5 inches deep, it is similar in size to the Portable One MX and the ThinkPad T43. At a reasonable 5.6 pounds, the PowerBook G4 weighs about average for a thin-and-light laptop-slightly heavier than the ThinkPad T43 and 0.5 pound heavier than the Portable One MX. Its 0.4-pound AC adapter makes for a total weight that's acceptable for carrying on the occasional trip.

Lift the lid of the 15-inch PowerBook G4, and you'll find the same minimalist design as on its 17-inch sibling: just a power button, a big keyboard framed by stereo speakers, and a large trackpad with a single mouse button. Unlike the lower-end iBook, the PowerBook G4 has a silver case and keyboard that do not pick up finger smudges. Though the keys are a bit shallow, they're wide, and we found them comfortable to use for long stretches of typing; we also loved the keyboard backlighting, which automatically adjusted to changes in ambient light levels. Like on other PowerBook G4s(and now iBooks, too), the generously sized trackpad lets you scroll through long documents and Web pages by dragging two fingers down the pad. The laptop's 15.2-inch(diagonal) TFT wide-screen display is adequately sized for most productivity and entertainment applications, and its vivid 1, 280x854 native resolution teamed with the PowerBook's stereo speakers make it a good portable movie theater.

With two USB 2.0 ports; the rare combination of FireWire 400 and 800; a PC Card slot that accepts Type I and II PC cards; and support for DVI, VGA, S-Video, and composite video, the Apple PowerBook G4 can connect to virtually any peripheral, from digital cameras to ProTools hardware. It's equipped with Bluetooth to interface with cell phones, and you can access the Internet via 802.11g Wi-Fi radio, Gigabit Ethernet, or modem. This 15-inch PowerBook G4 also accommodates a neat slot-loading SuperDrive that plays and burns DVDs and CDs. Unlike most Windows laptops, the PowerBook G4 doesn't include a built-in media reader for flash memory cards, though the USB and FireWire ports can usually connect directly to peripherals that use card memory.

The PowerBook G4 now ships with Mac OS X Tiger, highlights of which include the incredibly cool Spotlight search utility and the customizable Dashboard, a collection of handy desktop tools. Our review unit also came bundled with the robust iLife'05 software suite, which includes iPhoto 5.0, iMovie HD, iDVD 5.0, GarageBand 2.0, and iTunes 4.7; the PC equivalent could easily run hundreds of dollars more. The software package does not include the new iWork productivity suite, which costs$79 extra and isn't necessary unless you make a lot of high-end newsletters and presentations.

Priced at$2, 299(as of August 2005), this 15-inch PowerBook G4 features a 1.67GHz processor, 512MB of slowish 333MHz DDR SDRAM(with an open memory slot that provides room for expansion up to 2GB); a zippy 80GB, 5, 400rpm hard drive; and ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics with 64MB video memory and Dual Link DVI functionality for use with a high-resolution monitor such as the Apple Cinema Display. In CNET Labs' iTunes tests, the 15-inch PowerBook G4 matched the performance of its 17-inch sibling, which has the same-speed processor and RAM; it ran only 11 percent slower than a PowerMac G4 desktop with a 1.25GHz processor and a faster 7, 200rpm hard drive. However, the 15-inch laptop lagged behind both systems when it came to graphics tasks in CNET Labs' Photoshop CS tests and our Unreal Tournament 2004 game test. The 15-inch PowerBook's battery lasted only 2 hours, 42 minutes, or 12 minutes less than that of the 17-inch PowerBook G4, which has a larger, battery-draining screen. Neither model could match the 14.1-inch iBook's 3 hours, 24 minutes; if you're looking to work away from the wall socket for extended periods, the iBook may be the better buy.

I have used PCs almost all my life, and have never owned a Mac but, I purchased this few years ago, but wanted something that had more performance and the aesthetics of a PowerBook was definitely appealing.

The Mac lab had recently upgraded to iMac G5, and after using them a few times, I had decided that I definitely needed a Mac in my life.

The 15? PowerBook is a marvel to look at. The aluminium frame and minimalist design provides aesthetic pleasure to the eye. In my opinion there isn’t another notebook on the market at the moment that can quite match the look and feel of this notebook. The 15? PowerBook is a balance of portability and performance. Weighing in at only 5.6 lbs and only 1.1-inch thick, it may not be considered a featherlite laptop but given its configuration it is definitely worth the extra weight. It has its own ambient light sensors and automatically adjusts the brightness of the display as well as the beautiful keyboard illumination.

PowerBook G4
Apr 08, 2016 12:28 PM

The PowerBook G4 is a series of notebook computers that were manufactured, marketed, and sold by Apple, Inc.

I have the model featuring a PowerPC G4 processor running at 500 MHz, housed in a titanium-clad case that was just 1 inch deep.

This was 18 mm shallower than the G4's predecessor, the PowerBook G3. The G4 was among the first laptops to use a screen with a widescreen aspect ratio. It has 2X DVD ROM, 2X USB ports, 1X Firewired port. It has 50 wH battery that lasts 4hrs on normal use. It comes with Mac Tiger OS. It is a comfortable yet a little heavy yet powerful laptop to have.

Apple brand is very good as compared to other brand but the mail disadvantage of this product is the cost as well as the application programme availability. If apple give a mediator software to run all other compatible software like we generally used to windows then really it grow very well.

Apart from this the cost of the product is very high. Its just two half of the other products. It can  purchase only the richest person. Its the major drawback of this product.
