May 09, 2013 09:17 PM

I stay in Chennai and call me my bad luck that I bought Reliance Net connect + ... I swear to god this is the most horrible service I could expect I am literally screwed up .. I paid a sum of rs 1300/- with a promise of speed of 3.1 mbps.. and my friends do you know how much speed I got ... ...25kbps... yes my friend you read it correctly its 25kbps...

I am a professional and by god you can't imagine how much my work has suffered due to this... buying this product is like screwing your self .. the last thing on earth to buy is Reliance net connect... even in my dreams I will never buy this product. Customer care is one level above and will not respond to your calls.. and even they respond they can't do a thing about the problem..

So guys its better to work without internet then to buy this Reliance net connect.

Stay away from netzero!
Mar 30, 2008 10:51 PM

What a pain in the rear netzero is. Their software is proprietary(you can't set up a normal dialer through Control Panel), it is very slow, and it crashes Internet Explorer 7. When I called to cancel they tried to upsell me for about 5 minutes and I finally had to swear at the girl just to quit the sales pitch and actually cancel the account! Don't subscribe to netzero!

The sales rep told me I would be able to run tonight. But then I found out that I need their disk to run it. I was expecting it to be a standard dial up service that you set up in your Windows control panel.

Netzero is the worst ISP I have ever had. Of the many ISPs I have done business with Netzero is by far the worst. The price was cheap and I guess its true when they say you get what you pay for.

Download speed was very slow.

Don't do it! Don't do it!

All down hill from here.
Dec 03, 2007 04:44 AM

I first got this on 2006. At first it was a good service. Not fast not slow. It was cheap. and I was sastfied. Than Problems start occurring. once the thing would not start. So I spend hours trying to figure it out.  I was about to call them but I decide not to since service is $ 1.95 an minute or something like that. So I eventually figured out what to do. I was relived. but I was annoyed.

Things were okay than, on April 2007 my dad decided to get highspeed for $14.95. I was like cool Netzero would be faster. Right on the first day It was slow. slower than regular speed. But I had the patient to deal with it. Somedays It was fast but mostly it was slow. . But I could put up with it. Than a month, may. I was surfing the web on saturday afternoon and I logged off around 5 for dinner. So around 7 I got back on agian. I push connect. than I went downstairs for about 10 minutes. But I cant log on at all. So I exited it. and tried again. But It still dosent work. So once again I exited to try again. But it dosent work.

So I just exited. and turn off the computer and did something else instead. I just figured It was just one of those minor problems. It would likely work again tomorow, like it happened before. Than the next day I spent the whole sunday trying to figure out the problem. I was starting to get mad. I cant go online to download music. or go on myspace or do anything. So I statred using my little brothers computer. since It cant work on my computer. It was good for two weeks. Than I started to loose it becaasue it was no longer fast, A simple page would take about 10 minutes to load. logging to my yahoo email account took a while. and It would often say not responding. Myspace was very slow to load. I was just fed up. Than the internet at my brothers  just got worse and worse. ANd I dont want to call for help cause you have to pay for every minute you talk to them. So heck no. Than one day the internet would not work at all. Cuz my bothers computer dont work anymore. So bascailly after school let out I had a summer job so I cant go on the internet any ways. Than end of July I called netzero for cancellation.

I called them I talked to the first representive with an Indian accent that is very hard to understand. I told him I want to cancel so he direct me to another line. Than this dude talk to me and I told him I want to cancel. he ask me what seems to be the problem. I say that I was satisfy at first, than It got worse and worse. I got a virus due to netzero, plus I cant no longer connect to the computer and its slowness. He kept saying that he would reduce the price for the highspeed. I was like No. I dont want to to reduce the price I want to cancel it. He was like i'll transfer you to technical support and you will get the help. I was like No I have to pay for the call, and he wanted rush things hoping I change my mind. But I said I'm sorry I want to cancel because the family is not satisfied. He was liek miss give it a chance over and over agin and sometimes he would interrupt me. But I told him anyways. I said I dont care about the price. it could be free but I dont like the service so I want to be cancelled. He finally said fine and I got it cancelled.  than a month later they call my house and left a message wanting us back with some special offer. and a mail of a postcard of an special offer. Now I have aol and I'm happy with the speed. Its way better than netzero. The thing I hated the most was that If you ahve to pay to talk to them.

NetZero-Arrogant Rude People!!!!
May 10, 2005 08:06 PM

I signed up for NetZero yesterday 05-09-05 and I had problems from the outset. First the lines they provide are busy - had picked four!! So, I called customer service. The lady with an accent from India said she would connect me to Technical support but it would cost - GET THIS - $1.95 a minute (Did they get this idea from Porn Chat Lines?) I told her I had just signed up and could she give me a free technical support call - she puts me on hold for five minutes and comes back and says No Problem. So she transfers me to technical support. Well a young arrogant woman of black descent who had such a thick accent and mumbled I couldn't understand a word she said, and who sounded like she had razors in her voice as she spoke because she was stressed to her limits, barked at me and said, ''WHADDA YA WANT''? I told her the lines were busy and I had spent an hour trying to get on at about 1pm in the afternoon and couldn't log on and that this call was suppose to be No Charge. She screamed, ''This Ain't Free and if you want to talk to me it costs you $1.95 a minute'', I repeated that the customer service lady from India who I had just talked to had told me she was going to give me the call AT NO CHARGE. I thought she was going to jump through the phone lines and strangle me, she screams again'' I TOLD YOU IF YOU TALK WITH ME IT COSTS YOU $1.95 A MINUTE'' and then hung up. Okay, let's go over this - A new customer dials in - asks for help - gets charged $1.95 a minute - and can't even get online!! I'll be sure to reccommend NetZero to MY ENEMIES!! and to the Porn Industry.

No Competent Customer Service at NetZero
Mar 21, 2005 06:46 AM

In Februray 2005, I tried to download NetZero Platnium service to my mother's computer. The registration processes seemed to successfully accept her login name and password and it readily and without problem accepted her VISA card information, but when I tried to finalize the installation, the program returned a message that her name and password were not identifiable, though the program had confirmed that these had been created earlier, without a problem.

I took the computer to a repairman who discovered that files were missing. After four days, he called and asked that I provide my mother's login and password. NetZero replied that no name or number appeared in their files. I provided the repairman with her selected login and password and my VISA card information. He called back and said the program had been loaded successfully.

Two weeks later, my mother received her VISA card bill on which NETZERO's services were being charged. She called Netzero's customer service line and her call was answered by a representative in India. At first the woman advised my mother that her VISA card number did not appear in their files and verified that charges for the service were being billed to my credit card. However, the woman informed my mother that her card would continue to be billed as would mine. Though my mom attempted to point out how irrational such an act would be, the would insisted there was nothing that could be done. My mom called VISA and at their suggestion, cancelled her card and a few days later received a replacement.

Three days ago my mom was unable to sign on to NETZERO. She called the customer service department and was advised her service had been terminated because she closed access to her VISA card. Howver, they confirmed that the account is being billed to my VISA card. Depsite the obvious error, they said there was nothing they could do unless she provides a new credit card number. I called the company and after 30 minutes was unable to speak to anyone about cancelling their service. A recorded message stated they were busy. I then cancelled my mother's service through NETZERO's website.

WARNING
Sep 19, 2003 11:24 AM

Netzero is the worst ISP I have ever had. Of the three ISPs I have done business with Netzero is by far the worst. The price was cheap and I guess its true when they say you get what you pay for. Service was average at best, poor at times. My connection was dropped at least once a day and usually a few times. Download speed was very slow. My biggest problem was the $240 bill they sent me after I canceled my account. I had to call twice and talk to 3 different people to get my account canceled and the bill taken care of. Thankfully I paid with a check and didnt give them my credit card number. Customer no service was a joke. Dont make the same mistake I did, find another ISP. Chances are very good that any other ISP will be better than Netzero. More information on my web page https://web.tampabay.rr.com/swilson9/netzero.htm

NetZero Platinum - Waste of Time and Money
Aug 16, 2003 12:18 AM

My experience with Net Zero has been a

disaster. For days I was unable to connect to their servers. First, I was not

surprised since I got disconnected frequently. However, more than five days of

not being able to connect was a bit too much and since the Help Files did not

offer an answer to the error message I received, I contacted their Support via

email- did not want to call as phone support is expensive at NetZero. The answer

I received addressed a totally different issue. I work in the IT field, so I am

usually able to figure out what the problem is, but not in this case. I decided

to change ISPs and was able to connect to the net just fine with the new ISP. I

called Net Zero to cancel, dealt with a rude rep who told me they do not issue

refunds. You get nothing from Net Zero - guess that is why they really chose

that name - Zero for lack of effective support - zero for lack of customer

service - and zero for lack of stable connection.

The Bottom Line

Be aware! Pay a little more, since you get nothing from Net Zero. BIG ZERO

No money, but want internet service? Get NetZero!
Oct 07, 2002 05:43 PM

When my husband and I were dating, but living together, we had very little money to be throwing around. But, because he was in college, having the internet at home was very important. We found out about NetZero through a friend of ours. He told us that he got 40 hours per month for free, and the only thing he had to live with were some banners across the top of the screen. So, we thought this was quite a deal! Well, in the meantime, NetZero changed their policy from getting 40 hours/month to getting 10 hours/month. By that time, we had more money, so we went ahead and switched to a cheap unlimited usage dial up service. But, I still have no complaints about NetZero. Getting logged on was quick and easy. And the banner ads didn't bother me...as a matter of fact, sometimes I found things on the ad that I wanted to look in to. NetZero never crashed on me. So, if you don't want to spend a lot of money on internet service, and 10 hours/month is good enough for you, I highly recommend NetZero. NetZero also offers plans that you have to pay for, but I never really looked into them. However the advertisements for these plans said things like ''no banners, more time on the internet.''

Netzero Platinum- You Call This Unlimited?
Aug 24, 2001 02:34 PM

When I first used Netzero, I was a free customer. My husband and I can't afford our local ISP (at almost fifty bucks a month, who could?), and neither of us like AOL, we went with the next best thing- searching for a free ISP.

We tried Juno (don't bother- they jerked us around with their free service), and Bluelight (a laugh and a half), and finally settled on Netzero. Of the three, Netzero offers the best service for a free ISP.

Forty Hours Limited Access

'Free for the Internet generation' is Netzero's slogan. Commercials used to run on television all the time. I didn't pay much attention to them, and it wasn't until we were searching for a new free ISP, that I thought of them again.

Download is easy- just go to Netzero's site, sign up, and then download the program. Set up is fairly easy also, once installed, and the program is opened, you need to click on connect, which will bring up the settings screen. On this screen, you'll fill in things like your home phone number, whether you need to dial a specific number to get an outside line, whether you need to shut call waiting off, and things like that. There's also a screen where you choose your primary dial up number, as well as two secondary numbers. Basically, you type in your area code, and it brings up a list of numbers in that area code.

The only problem that I had with this is that Netzero sets the primary number for you. Even if you pick a different number first, and then add it, Netzero puts them in a specific order. Each line is also configured differently, as to how long you can be on that line. The primary number is usually a four hour line, and the secondary numbers are either two hour or four hour lines. You have to play around with them to see which one is which.

The free ISP does have one drawback. Each household, not account, only has forty hours of free service a month. If you sign in after your forty hours are up, Netzero opens up a page that says that you've used your hours for that month. It also gives you the open to purchase unlimited access for the rest of that month for $9.95 (American). To me, this was worthless. I'd rather be without service for a week, than have to pay almost ten dollars for a weeks worth of unlimited access. But now, this doesn't mean much to me, which I'll get to in a little bit.

We have a 56k bps modem, and not a nice nifty cable modem or DSL. You can tell that we live in the sticks- neither of these two options are available here yet. Until recently, my connections were always 48k and up- with the majority being around 52k. This was much better than what we got with either Juno or Bluelight. But about a month ago, I started getting slower connections in the 28k range. Not good, but I found that by disconnecting and trying again, that my connection was much better. I haven't had a problem in the last week or two (knock on wood).

As with any free Internet service, Netzero comes complete with banner ads. These ads can run either across the top or across the bottom of the screen, but they take up room. Netzero also offers ads through their NZTV, which is what plays while you are connecting. You can't hide these ads, and if you close them, you lose your connection. So you are stuck with them. It's a tad annoying, but you get used to them. Netzero also mandates that you click an ad every hour. If you don't, you get these little reminders that you're not clicking on them. You get a warning, and then you get a countdown. If you don't click on the countdown before it's done, you're disconnected. Netzero automatically disconnects after three hours, even if you click on those ads.

Platinum Service

In April 2001, Netzero came out with Netzero Platinum. At that time, I was home recovering from emergency surgery (gall bladder, doing just fine, thank you), and was on the Internet almost all day. I had nothing to do! Couldn't clean- against doctor's orders. Couldn't watch televison (satellite was out). Played with my son as much as possible, but what about nap time? What was I going to do with those three hours a day that my son napped? And how about those hours after he went to bed? I was bored, and we needed something that was going to last longer than forty hours.

When I first heard about the Platinum service, I was intrigued. We had already been thinking about paying for Juno's paying service, but weren't happy with Juno as a rule. Netzero was offering unlimited service, with no banner ads, for $9.95 a month, $49.95 for six months (special- buy five months, get the sixth month free). After discussing this with my husband, we decided to try it. So we went ahead and purchased the six month package.

Unlimited service was available immediately for us, since we used a credit card. When I logged in for the first time after paying for it, I noticed that I no longer had any banner ads- great! Instead, there's this little bar that runs across the top of the screen that has handy dandy little buttons for quick access to websites. There's also a light on the bar that tells you when there's new mail available at you Netzero email account.

There were some problems at first, but I haven't experienced this since we first signed up. There were times that I'd log in, and Netzero would think that I was a regular free user, and up pops those banner ads. If I disconnected, and then reconnected, I'd more often than not get my Platinum service. One time, when I logged in, it disconnected immediately, telling me that I had used up my forty hours! But after emailing Netzero, and complaining, I have had no problems with this since then.

The NZTV is still there, but I think that I can live with it, since it's only there when I connect.

Netzero now, instead of after three hours, logs off after four hours of active use. If you are not active on the internet, then Netzero automatically disconnects, no warnings.

Free Email

Netzero only allows a certain amount of space for email, but if you don't generate tons of email a day, then you have no worries. Netzero offers a tutorial on setting it up through Outlook Express, as well as an automatice set up (I do not recommend this- I had more problems doing it this way than I did when I did it myself).

One major flaw in the email system is that you can't send email unless you are using Netzero. So if you have another ISP that you pay for, but use Netzero as a free email service, you are going to be frustrated to no end. But combined, the email feature works great, and I rarely have any problems with it.

Overall

I'd have to recommend Netzero to anyone who is looking for an ISP- free or not. Netzero's prices are better than some local ISP's, as well as AOL. The service is better than Juno's could ever be. Netzero is the one for me.

Limited usage
Jul 18, 2001 06:04 PM

Net Zero is one free isp I have used and I never had a problem logging in or getting connected right away and have used it as a back up before. Even though I have cable now to my computer that can go down so I still use this as a back up.

However the free part of it only includes 40 hours of online time. If you want more you have to pay for it. I spend way more hours than that on the net in a week. But as a back-up until cable was up and running or your regular isp I would recommend it.

There are banners of course but not that bad to be too distracting.

So if you are looking just for a backup isp this will work fine.

The last I knew My Points had a free isp with no banners and you get extra points for using it. When I check that out again I will come back and add to this review.Of course you have to be a member of my points and for those that have not heard of it, it is a program with click throughs, e-mails sent to you and surveys to take for making points which can be turned in for gift certificates and I have used this service for over 5 years. The points are made easy and the certificates come in handy as gifts or to get some thing for yourself.

Surf At The Speed Of FREE!!!
Jul 18, 2001 03:43 PM

If could say something good about the free ISP's out there Netzero would be the only one I could Speak about. Not only is it totally free but they offer you local access numbersto call into, and this database of numbers is growing rapidly. You download a small application and register a user name and password, and your surfing. Its that simple. The only drawback to Netzero is the Ad bar that runs and flashes Advertisments at you the whole time your online. Along with FREE internet access you also get a completely FREE e-mail address yourname@netzero.net. Although I would not reccomend dumping your current PAY ISP it is worth the download to have a backup for those times when your PAY ISP goes down, upgrades, or does routine maitenance.
