I have just had my first experience with Freeserve and thought that I ought to warn everyone. I have never had the urge to have Freeserve as my ISP. In my opinion they are too expensive, but what do I know? Well, quite a bit actually. Everyone I know who is with Freeserve has some sort of complaint.
My complaint goes like this: Went round to a friends house tonight, who has Freeserve as an ISP. She couldn't connect to the internet, computer froze. After emptying off some of the poo that was on the computer it no longer froze but it did say that the number that was being dialed was not recognised. So, being logical (unusually) I thought that maybe they had changed it. Trouble being it costs 50p per minute to find out. So, phone call to Freeserve, phone rang, and rang, and rang, and rang, and rang. Gave up. Ten minutes later tried again, rang, rang, rang, ten minute someone answered!!! So surprised forgot to speak for a minute, total cost 50p. Explained problem, took two minutes, total cost £1.50. Person on end of phone, very rude, thought I must be stupid or something, went through five hundred things on the computer that I'd already previously checked, time taken, 5 minutes, total cost so far £4. Rude bloke on phone said he would check, time taken another 3 minutes, total cost now £5.50. Impolite operator decided that it was a fault at Freeserves end and would report it, took two minutes to explain. End cost £6.50 just to find out that there was nothing wrong with the computer in the first place.
My opinion is that if they are charging 50p per minutes they should be able to afford to employ more telephone operators to answer the phone and not let it ring for ten minutes, obviously not. So, in my opinion, Freeserve are very expensive, very rude and charge you for their own faults. Not good. I feel better now I have that off my chest.
