BSNL good 2G network
Jun 09, 2017 09:34 AM

I am using BSNL 2G service for last three years. In my area I am getting good network signal. I am also using airtel, Aircel and Idea. But the network speed what I am getting from BSNL is amazing. Despite of 2G network I am getting better data speed as compared to Aircel, Idea and Airtel. The data speed remains consistent. I can download 500MB data within 5-6 minutes. I don't have any problem with youtube videos. It does not take much time for buffering.

Poor Service of BSNL.
May 17, 2016 04:52 PM

I am a working class person and internet facility is one of the primary needs of mine. In office as well as home, the work needs internet. For home, on insisting by a friend, I took a connection from the BSNL. I took a 2 Mbps plan for domestic use. But the internet connectivity was one of the worst as provided by BSNL. Not even a single tatkal ticket could be done as every time when I tried to book a tatkal ticket, the server went down and this problem prevailed only in the BSNL internet only not in any other provider as when I had to do ticket bookings I need to visit a friend who has Airtel internet and works very good as compared to this.

Then one of the things to mention us the speed which is very inconsistent. The speed intermittently fluctuates a lot and causes several problems also.

The network quality is also very poor as it does not catches any network in our home and we need to go to the roof top to call or receive calls.

I would not recommend to go for BSNL.

Bsnl never turned up
May 17, 2016 12:49 AM

Just 300 meters(approx) is the distance between my house and bsnl tower. But still my area has no feasibility as per bsnl line man's words. They don't provide me the broadband and they demand more than Rs. 2000 to do their job. Still I didn't get response from bsnl and specially from bsnl line man in my area.

I don't think why bsnl people are always irresponsible?

  1. Is this because they get salary even if they don't do their job?

  2. Is this because they are not monitored by senior authorities?

  3. Is this because the senior authorities are corrupted?

  4. Is this because we people are dumb to ask them questions?

I belong to Veppampattu, Tiruvallur - 602024.

Best broadband i.e BSNL facing doomsday
Jul 28, 2013 06:42 AM

Practically speaking BSNL's broadband was the best some years ago, but recently it has developed such a crack that you can buy a lottery ticket when you have undisturbed access to it and don't surprise if you win lottery, because that may be your luckiest day.

Worst thing is their customer service provides you tape recorded answers to your complaints. Further they send you bill for full amount even it you are unable to use broadband on account of failure of their service and that also with deadline and you receive the bill just one day before deadline.

That's joint venture of BSNL and India Post. I am really getting fed up of complaining and thinking about discontinuing.

BSNL: Sarkari Damaad, Blood Suckers of India
Apr 14, 2011 11:11 AM

I have a BSNL connection at Home for more than a year now.but I have seen so many problems in this time.

1- Problems frequent in the Billing, Usage Charges, and many a times the connection is not there for the landline.

2- In Case the connection is not there, you are miserable because for 3 days no one will visit the phone, and then even if someone comes without talking to Gupta Jee.Sharma Jee.you will not be able to resolve your problem.

3- You will fight and keep on writing emails to them but there will be no action.

Let us fight like ANNA HAZARE with them.just stop using BSNL because they are Blood Suckers of Indian Govt and one of the most corrupt organisation. Most of the Govt Officials are like SARKARI DAMAAD.

This is one of he least efficient orgaisation, they were number one just few years back and continuing to degrade themselves and loosing shares to more professional and better operators like Airtel, TATA, Reliance etc.

I have been cheated and humiliated by BSNL, Please save yourselves from same humiliation.

PLEASE NEVER TAKE BSNL CONNECTION JUST BECAUSE IT IS CHEAP. Email me at viewamit@yahoo.com for any of your queries.

All the best!

BSNL streamlining
May 19, 2008 08:20 AM

There has been ever increasing complaint on BSNL style of functioning and problems created by the corrupt staff of BSNL.  But the fact remains that BSNL is known for its correct calibration of billing system.  Some may say that is a fallacy because the linesmen misuse some customers line by connecting it to a commercial user illegally.  The fact remains the system is right but men are wrong. The Japanese came out with a innovative solution when faced with a technical glitch of one soap box was empty of its content, see the approach of two companies:

One of the most memorable case studies on Japanese management was the case of the empty soapbox, which happened in one of Japan's biggest cosmetics companies. The company received a complaint that a consumer had bought a soapbox that was empty. Immediately the authorities isolated the problem to the assembly line, which transported all the packaged boxes of soap to the delivery department. For some reason, one soapbox went through the assembly line empty. Management asked its engineers to solve the problem. Post-haste, the engineers worked hard to devise an X-ray machine with high-resolution monitors manned by two people to watch all the soapboxes that passed through the line to make sure they were not empty. No doubt, they worked hard and they worked fast but they spent whoopee amount to do so.

But when a rank-and-file employee in a small company was posed with the same problem, he did not get into complications of X-rays, etc., but instead came out with another solution. He bought a strong industrial electric fan and pointed it at the assembly line. He switched the fan on, and as each soapbox passed the fan, it simply blew the empty boxes out of the line.

Moral:

  1. Always look for simple solutions.

  2. Devise the simplest possible solution that solves the problems.

  3. Always focus on solutions & not on problems.

This case study reveals that problems afflicting BSNL can be fixed only through innovative means a)     Announce incentive scheme of 10% to all employees of BSNL on sale of SIM card, Prepaid, Landline deposits, etc etc.

b)       Trap BSNL staff who are corrupt and dismiss them from service through CBI.

c)       Ensure motivation of staff in customer handling and empathy

d)     Create an environs of  customer interface with management.

e)     Reward exemplary employees based on consumer feedback

The idea is that BSNL should survive intense private competition and ensure that the Navarathna remains intact.  I am sure like what was done in the Railways by Laloo Prasad with BSNL it is much more easy and quicker

NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY - TRAI
May 18, 2008 04:45 PM

NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY

TELECOM REGULATORY AUTHORITY OF INDIA.

The primary objective of the National Do Not Call Registry (NDNC Registry) is to curb Unsolicited Commercial Communication (UCC). UCC has been defined as "any message, through telecommunications service, which is transmitted for the purpose of informing about,or soliciting or promoting any commercial transaction in relation to goods, investments or services which a subscriber opts not to receive, but, does not include, ----

(i) any message (other than promotional message) relating to a service or financial transaction under a specific contract between the parties to such contract;or

(iii) messages transmitted, on the directions of the Government or any authority or agency authorized by it, in the interest of the sovereignty and integrity of India, the security of the State, friendly relations with foreign States, public order, decency or morality."

The NDNC Registry will be a data base having the list of all telephone numbers of the subscribers who do not want to receive UCC.After the establishment of NDNC registry, Telephone subscriber (Landline or mobile) who does not wish to receive UCC, can register their telephone number with their telecom service provider for inclusion in the NDNC. Telecom Service Provider shall upload the telephone number to the NDNC within 45 days of receipt. The Telemarketer will have to verify their calling telephone numbers list with the NDNC registry before making a call. To discourage the telemarketers who make calls to the numbers registered in Do Not Call List, a provision has been made whereby Rs.500/ - shall be payable by the telemarketer to the service provider for every first unsolicited commercial communication (UCC) and Rs.1000/- shall be payable for subsequent UCC. There is a provision for disconnection of the telemarketer telephone number / telecom resource if the UCC is sent even after levy of Rs.500/- & Rs.1000/- tariff. In case of non-compliance to the Telecom Unsolicited Commercial Communications Regulations, 2007, the Service Provider is also liable to pay an amount by way of financial disincentive, not exceeding Rs.5000/- for first non-compliance of the regulation and in case of second or subsequent such non-compliance, an amount not exceeding Rs.20,000/- for each such non-compliance.

Subscriber may complaint to his telecom service provider, if he receives Unsolicited Commercial Communication (UCC) even after 45 days of registering his number for UCC.While making the complaint to this telecom service provider, he should mention the call originating telephone number, date/time of the call and type of commercial message. It may be noted that complaint should be lodged within 15 days from the receipt of such UCC.

The subscriber should insist for the complaint No. which should be kept for further reference. A  Mobile or landline subscriber who does not wish to receive telemarketing calls, can request their telephone number be included in the NDNC Registry. Such request are sent through their telecom service providers which will be stored in National Do Not Call Registry. Subscribers can make a Do Not Call requests via Letter, phone, SMS or on-line.

The telephone number "1909" is designated for registering your request in the National Do Not Call Registry. Registrations can be done either by calling or sending SMS with keywords "START DND" to "1909". Telephone calls/SMSs to this number are FREE of cost. The telecom service provider will acknowledge the request within ten days. Requests will become effective in 45 days from the date of request. For any Complaints or Queries Please send a mail to

helpline@ndncregistry.gov.in

The Story goes on …….During the month of February’2008, I have registered a complaint to avoid Unsolicited Commercial Communication from telemarketing services and inspite of this, I used to get several prank calls and fail to curb this torture, finally decided to send a mail on 26 th March’2008 to the concerned authority.

Mr. Ajith Singh , Gujarat Telecom Circle Office , Ahmedabad. Along with details of call received and my DNC registration number: BSNL is DNC Reg No: C051007603336.

Meantime, there were several calls from telemarketing services which prompted me to keep contacting all offices related to DNC Registry and none of these offices have responded to my mail pgmo_guj@bsnl.co.in , helpline@ndncregistry.gov.in , trai.ndnc@yahoo.com

Even today, I receive several unwanted calls and every time, I attend , I curse BSNL and the TRAI for their utter failure and look forward to see the top DEAD WOOD LOGs getting sacked

What a disaster even after 60 years of Indian Independence, we are the same crabs.

The Indian Crabs!

Easy to use, affordable, but.....
Apr 10, 2008 06:11 PM

We bought a computer for our home 3 years back. What we badly needed was an internet connection.

My system provider was "Focuz Computers" in Palakkad. The guy who came for installing my PC suggested me to go for NETONE.

Talking about netone, it's a postpaid dial-up internet service from BSNL where in you can start the connection from your hame and unlike in Sancharnet where in you have to go to the BSNL office, get the package etc etc, here both the Internet and Telephone charges will come in the usual telephone bill.

Earlier our bill amount used to be very less. But now since our net consumption has been increased, the bill amount has also started increasing like anything.

So we thought about getting this connection disconnected and getting a WLL connection.

But the BSNL officials told that once this connection has been taken, it cannot be disconnected.

Now we are in a great dilemma.

Better than Tata Indicom
Mar 31, 2007 11:53 AM

I am working in a small organization where we are using the Internet connection of Tata Indicom (VSNL). The service of Tata Indicom is not good. Every time we use to face one or the other problems like Server down, Slow speed, International web sites not opening, etc. So my boss decided to go for another internet connection and he decided to take the Internet connection of BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited).

The rates of BSNL Internet connection we found was higher as compared with Tata Indicom Internet Service. But the speed and the Internet connection of BSNL was much better than Tata Indicom. We are using the Internet service of BSNL from past 2 years and from past 2 years we didn't got any kind of technical problem from BSNL Internet service as we always use to get from Tata Indicom.

According to my knowledge those people who are thinking or planning to open a Cyber Café or to take an Internet connection for their business purpose should take the internet connection of BSNL. The rates of BSNL you find will be higher than other internet service providers but you will surely get a good service than other Internet Service providers.

Coimbatore India
Varying speeds
Nov 30, 2006 01:06 AM

I use a BSNL NetOne connection at home in Coimbatore to check my mail and browse the net. Over the few months that I have been using this service, I have found that it is heavily used evenings and nights. I have to complete most of my work either during the day or after midnight if I want to do it reasonably quickly.

It's almost impossible to get a connection in the between about 8 pm and midnight. All you get is a recofded message saying that all lines on this route are busy. This being the cheapest dial-up internet service we have to live with some problems but BSNL would be well advised to make sure that capacity is hiked, otherwise they will start losing business.

It's almost impossible to get in touch on the phone with someone at BSNL who knows what they're talking about when reporting problems. Mostly you get bounced around and end up no better off than you were before you tried to call.

I am writing this review because the service seems to vary from location to location. My mother uses NetOne in her home in Palghat district, Kerala. The NetOne service there is a little better, both in terms of ease of getting through and speed of connection. This might be because there are fewer uses for the same bandwidth, but the inconsistency of service is a worrying factor. I am shifting to Goa next year and don't know how service there will be.

To sum up, I'd wish for:

1 Bandwidth depending on demand.

2 Better help lines

3 More consistent service across the country.

GOOD n BAD
Apr 14, 2005 11:15 PM

Well this is the age of broadband, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc etc and all about mobility. Gone are those days of dial ups. SA history would speak when internet was newly launched, cafes opened up and internet charger were soaring at Rs.150 per hour. Now a days it is mearly Rs.5-Rs.10 per hour.

And internet cafe business is starting to lose. Dial up charges are touching down to earth prices. And it may be possible to see dial being history as its big brother ''BROADBAND'' may lead the way.

I was using BSNL's Sancharnet since one and a half years. It has been a long time though. I had some bitter as well as some sweet moments with it.

Before I used BSNL I was using SIFY, which was way too far expensive and they are damn big cheaters. Though BSNL's scheme suited me the most. It was economical and was satisfactorily fast.

The good thing was that its 100 hr dial up package costs just Rs.550 & also the validity is a whooping 2 years.

I almost use net for 2-3 hours everyday and that too after 11pm and as per their tarrifs a single minute wont get deducted . Like this, I used to get the full value of the package & my money.

Now a days dial up charges are at Rs.9 per hr during peak hour i.e 8AM - 10:30 PM. and Rs.4 per hour during off peak hours.

Anyways I don't use dial up anymore, good things end up with sweet notes & also good things don't last for ever. When BSNL newly launched SANCHARNET it didnt have a huge customer base, as you must have guessed by now, connectivity was a breeze. it was blazing fast & you would get connected with 1 try.

But now a days things are changing. With its customer base ever increasing , these punks don't care to improve their base station capacities or install new, which can help in better connectivity.

Now scene is such you won't get connected in a single attempt. 5-6 attempts are the minimum you would need to get connected. And if you do get connected, it will be a miserly speed of 4kbps,16/32 kbps moreover it often gets disconnected in 5 minutes and lo, you gotta give 5-10 more tries to get connected once again. And once in a blue moon you will get a connection of 46 kbps witch is its optimum performance point.

So I thought it was high time to give up.

Q-What was my other option ?

A-Broadband of course that too from BSNL(Dataone)

Its cheap, very fast, reliable & convinient.

With monthly rentals of Rs.500 for 1GB, I thought it was a deal good enough for me. It was a good and bad experience both. I would have definitely recommended this product 6 months ago, but not now as this is the age of blazing BROADBAND !

HAPPY SURFING !!

BSNL- Dataone- simply the best
Apr 02, 2005 11:33 PM

I have been using the BSNL- Dataone since it's inception in January 2005. To say in one word it is the 'best'. The connection never fails and the speed is simply amazing! The price is very cheap compared to other Internet providers. The home plan for 256 kbps is just Rs.500 p.m +Rs.100 towards modem rental.

First time you have to pay Rs.3306 towards:

.1. Installation charges - Rs. 500

.2. One month advance rental - Rs.500

.3. Cost of modem - Rs.2000 (in case you opt for outright purchase of modem)

.4. Service charges - Rs.306

No telephone charges. The download & upload limit is 1GB p.m. Rs.2 per MB over this limit. But as a promotional offer BSNL has waived the extra charges till June 05. So it is unlimited till June 05! You can purchase the modem at Rs.2000 also.

In that case no rental charges for modem. But the modem does't seems to be of good quality. It is china make. I have checked the speed with some websites and the rating is more than 270 kbps!

I recommend the internet users to go for this BSNL- Dataone and enjoy the lightning speed.

Netone : Good for home.
Feb 14, 2005 06:29 PM

I have been using the Netone for about a year now. It?s been a good experience.

at that time my home PC was about 2 months old and was using satyam online connection. The hours would exhaust in about 20 days.

I was thinking if I should buy a 3month or 6 month package. Around that time I came to know about netone. The netone looked good, secure and convenient. It was easy to register. I get the usage bill along with my telephone which is very convenient. No hassles of buying packages of varying durations and trying to track the usage.

Registration

Open your dialer(any dialer and you can download Netone dialer )

  • Dial No : 172222

  • Username: netone

  • Password: netone

When it connects it would open the site https://netoneblr.bsnl.co.in/

At this stage you are connected to the bsnl network. You will be able to access only the above bsnl web site. Then you fill out the registration form online.

The user name will be your phone number and choose a password.

This connection works only when you dial using your phone line. This is a security feature to prevent misuse the account. If someone manages to find your password he will not be able to connect from any other phone line. The username being your phone number the connection can be made from the phone line of this number alone.

Disadvantage for you would obviously be the account is not portable. You have to use it from your home phone line.

Usage tariff

netone usage is charged 10paise per pulse in addition to your phone charge. Net pulse is of 60sec so you pay 10paise/min plus normal telephone charges.

Speed

Coming to speed. I get about 3.5k to 4k download speed on average. This is ok for normal internet usage, downloading small attachments in you mails, antivirus definitions, screensavers etc.

Availability

On Some afternoons I found it difficult to get the line.. the line is busy and I had to retry more than 10 times to login. The connection does not sustain for long.

In all its been good one year with Netone. I am not a heavy surfer at home spend on an average 20-25 hours a month. I would recommend it.

BSNL DataONE - Chennai
Feb 09, 2005 07:56 PM

I have just been using for a day, the Home500 plan of BSNL (as of 9 Feb 2005 in Chennai).

Aside the fact that one had to kick the PSU bureaucracy all the way to get the conx and get them to do just what they promised thru installation, enabling conx etc etc, the network performance was amazing, for the price, given that I am coming from vsnl's dog-speed dial-up conx.

To give credit to BSNL, it is early days & understandable; conx went down a few times & am sure they will fix it as basics seems to be in place interms of quality infrastructure.

One only hopes that you never have to call their support staff ever at all; as to be expected no one has a clue - you are given more and more telephone numbers to call that keeps ringing & no one picks up. You are passed amongst the old-age PSU Babus called SDE/JE/AE/So and such acronyms for Sr div Engr, Asst Engr, Junior Engr, Sup etc etc & most of them are living in 50 years ago planet and internet associated ways of working and language baffles when you complain of anything as much as what their acronym & PSU babudom language does to the hapless subscriber. They even resort to good old means - ''Can you please fax your problem saar?'' Hello??? this is internet age - dont you have an email ID?? Indeed their website for DataOne broadband service does not even have a complaint/feedback form or email address to contact, yet (I still hold hope).

Yet, for the price, it is worth putting up for a while hoping that their support infrastrcture and their website will improve apart from gloating pictures of 'inagurationn' of this or that, which had had its time and value!

Not that VSNL (despite TATA's name association) or Sify for that matter (who seem to have some market share) is any better when it comes to service.

Incase of Sify, you will have the pleasure that some one picks the phone immediately or an automatd email response if you contacted on web - just that - for them to tap themselves on the back and claim an award as per some wierd ISO certfication - whatever you complained about goes straight into a dustbin & you never hear from them, on progress or solution.

Guess what? I had called sify, filled their web form etc etc twice over a month just before I registered with BSNL - they are yet to give me a call & clarify my queries; well if this is their 'interest' (in sales dept) before the deal is secured, I cant hope their service to be any better than BSNL.

As to VSNL - I have been with them for years, out of virtually no-better-alternative. Less said, the better. Goodbye VSNL - you have all the time on earth to address some of my complaints still pending with you.

So of all the evils, it certainly is worth experimenting with cheaper one - BSNL DataONE!!

Whether BSNL will sustain or not, I kinda like the hell of a run they have given to the other operators, for their money!! Sify, Infocomm & even VSNL et all are busy lately atempting to pamper you in press!!!

BSNL Broadband rocks!!

BSNL DataOne Broadband Review

It seemed like ages,I had been waiting for a good internet experience, one that is fast and reliable. And finally after five years since I started using the internet arrives BSNL DataOne Broadband, I'm not calling it the best, but it is the first step.

Registration and installation

BSNL does all the right thing when it comes to the infrastructure and facilities, but falters when it comes to updating all its staff about the product and the process to be followed.

Initially it was advertised that an online registration is enough. I did register online in December, come Jan 31 and I never got a call. So on Feb 1, I went to meet the CRM, he asked me to fill in a form and since I already was using DIAS, I didn't have to pay anything. I came back. Next day, surprise, BSNL people knock at my home and just replaced the DIAS modem with the ADSL modem.Thats it, installation is over, no software and stuff, Win XP has everything built in.

Plan

Contrary to their advertising, at present they are offering only two plans Home 500 and Business 1200. I took the former, 256Kbps, monthly 500 bucks and 1 Gb download cap. For the moment the best thing is no download cap till end of June.

For more information on the different plans that will available in the future go to bsnl.co.in

Browsing and Downloading

There would not be a remarkable difference if you are just logging onto yahoo or checking news and stuff. The difference can be seen when you open heavily loaded pages, with lot of graphic content.

Downloading is a whole different story, I have since the installation downloaded songs, trailers, watched streaming content and what not, the speed is as promised. It downloads at about 32 KBps (256Kbps, in bits). At present this is just great news.It is 4 times faster than dialup and 2 times faster than DIAS.

Bandwidth Test

I ran a couple of bandwidth tests, here is the result of one.

299.2 kilobits per second

Communications 299.2 kilobits per second

Storage 36.5 kilobytes per second

1MB file download 28 seconds

Bottom line

BSNL DataOne broadband is the cheapest, most reliable and best broadband service in India now. You don't need a second opinion on this, go for it!!
