I purchased this hard drive from Flipkart-com at a low cost of 3800 and I was truly awed with every one of the elements like USB 3.0 and 1tb of capacity and 100 mbps speed. However, everything finished not long after following 2 months of utilization. The hard drive was performing truly well and I was awed by it furthermore 958gb of space was accessible that was alright for me. The issue arised when I was viewing a motion picture on the hard drive and them I stopped it out and returned home and connected it to again and to my repulsiveness the hard drive was not working and my PC gave the blunder of hard drive debased.

This is the best mini vault of storage this has taken Security to the next level the range of features is excellent this thing power up only by connecting to the external power supply I mean nobody can access to ur harddrive only if the power supply and the adapter it is very compicated but it is a fortress of security .u have a WD software which checks the drive and helps u to keep a password and helps us to check the drive for misellances files and tell an overview items present and u have a special rod to connect the harddrive to ur device the harddrive loads very fast in my laptop and has a custom personalized case to keep the drive overall it is a cool device to own. it I has good look and the customer service it ready 24/7 to help u if u have any problem overall I would recommend my frnd to buy this device because of it safefty u even have app to monitor ur drive I has some emergency options and some very cool options to operat and to secure ur drive and thats my review on wd my book essential

Loved this hard disk, using WD products since 5 years, No problems at all. Just need to handle with care, slightest drop without cover and gone(had experienced this with my WD 500GB hard disk). Also if hard disk is under warrant tee and gone bad, WD personal will come to your home to pick up and later replace or repair hard disks at no cost. Had purchased 2 TB Segate hard disk before, didn't last more than 6 months. Segate customer care in bangalore did replaced it, but still it is not usable. So purchased 2TB WD hard disk. Using since last 2 years, no problems, running smooth.

WD my book essential 1tb. Best product. If you're planning to buy any hard disk. Go for this one. I bought it a year ago. It's still working.

I bought it from Amazon. Even the transfer speed is too good.The USB is 2.0 ????. Go for it. Probably the best hard disk you'll find.

I used WD My Book Essential 1TB for just 7 months . I chose WD Company as it is well known by everyone and is one of the trusted brands and most used brand and has a great reputation all over the world, and my family and friends recommended to buy this Product but unfortunately my experience has not been so good, there were many problems that I faced using this product and would like to tell you some. This product is very less durable and is easily breakable, I was able to use it for just 7 months and It just stopped working after that, It felt like I wasted my money on such famous brand which did not provide durable product. And the customer service is also very poor It took around 3 week to get it fixed, and their staff is also not very friendly. The product requires constant need of repairing which is also expensive. I had the worst experience with this and I would not recommend this product, there are many other companies that are offering same product at less price and more durable

As is the description it is my first hd but sadly it needs power to run. Hd is very good in terms of read and write ratio. Out of 1tb only 989gb is available. Formating of the hd is also v easy.

It can be connected to any pc or laptop and also to tvs for entertainment purpose. If its not detected format it ntfs file system to be tuned to Windows 8 or 7.

For apple macintosh also it detects and works like a charm.

Finally a very good buy if you want to dwnld and save files and pics for future. Uts a must need

WD is really a very good brand for the hard disc and external hard disk.

I am using WD 1 TB rad disc and its very useful for me.

I want to share my experience about WD External hard drive.  It  is one of the best company in external hard drive market.

I am also one of the user of this, and using 1 TB External Hard drive since 2014 bought it in Rs.  4900/- at time.  May be now price came down.  Still it's working without any issues. It is in black color with support 3.0 speed.

I bought this hard drive from Flipkart-com at a low price of 3800 and I was really impressed with all the features like USB 3.0 and 1tb of storage and 100 mbps speed. But it all ended very soon after 2 months of usage.

The hard drive was performing really well and I was impressed by it and also 958gb of space was available that was ok for me. The problem arised when I was watching a movie on the hard drive and them I plugged it out and came back home and plugged it in again and to my horror the hard drive was not working and my computer gave the error of hard drive corrupted. In my horror I did everything I could and then u had to go to wd service centre that was really hard to find and they said they will repair it but will cost me and I said its in warranty to which they said its for drives hardware or any manufacturing defect or something like that not for a corrupted device and it will cost at least 700 for the store charges.

I was shocked and I came back to receive my hard drive after 3 weeks and and all my data of 260 gb was gone and erased, they did repair the hard drive but I never used it again as it not trustful at all and I would also not recommend it.

Purchases this hard drive as it was cheapest available in the market and also it was also having 3.p port, but after one month of using it suddenly it stopped working and to my nightmare I lost all the data .It is the worst hard drive, when I went for custimer service they saide they cannot get the data back .Here is some point about this hard dravie .

Look: Average look and also it is not slimer there are lots of other hard drive in the market at the same price which are better looking and slimmer than this .

Speed: - The 3.0 port will not work even though you put it in lapply 3.0 port, it still gives only 4mbps speed which is the actual speed of 2.0 .

Performance: - Very bad performance have alredy written about the speed it provides and with that it heats up very soon and a sound comes out .

This hard drive also get affected by the virus very quickly and will make the virus folder Autorun in your lappy .Their customer service is not available in all cities and they are quite rude .

So I suggest you not to purchase this hard drive .

This HDD stopped working in Dec-Jan 2013... I'd barely used it. Once a month I'd attach it to my PC and transfer some excess data into it just to clear some space. When it stopped working I was very disappointed.. all my data was lost, but thankfully I'd stored all the important stuff on my SEAGATE  (now thats a good company).

When I checked the warranty on the WD website it said 03/12/2013... and that to every Indian.. infact most people in the world would be the 3rd of December 2013. Since I was pretty much always busy, I decided to put it off till I had time, comfortable in the knowledge that I had nearly a year to get it replaced. A week back, I fell ill, got the flu. Staying at home now, I finally had enough time off work to take care of a few things, like getting my HDD replaced. AND NOW... they tell me that 03/12/2013 means the 12th of March, 2013 !!!!!!!

When I emailed them complaining about this, one of their employees, a Wilma_m kept repeating like a parrot that my warranty has expired. Making no mention of their date format which I had stressed on.

It seems she was incapable of reading all the words in my email... could only read the serial number and then sent an automated reply back.... It took some effort on my part before I got a proper reply back from a Mr Pavan who gave me some useless info and told me to email someone else. Apparently they consider the American format to be standard on a global website... Americans who use feet and pounds when the rest of the world use meters and kgs... everyone has switched over to the SI system but not them... Mr Pavan, WDs customer base extends far beyond America, and to not even include a small note, an indent, a legend of some sort indicating the date format is the height of irresponsibility.

I could have had my HDD replaced earlier if I'd known the actual date... you give a useless product that was barely used before it stopped working, waste my money, and now my time as well, and then refuse replacement? What kind of company are you people running? I wouldn't be surprised if this was intentional in order to reduce the instances of warranty usage to replace faulty products...

If I don't get my HDD replaced then I will take this to consumer court... you people have been rude and dismissive when I emailed you, .. instead of forwarding my complaint to your superiors and taking a valid complaint like this seriously you've given me some random email address and told me to go email them... I'm going to expose your company's duplicity and ineptitude on every consumer forum for the rest of the week, and if you don't rectify your ways by then.. its Consumer Court next.
