Sony DCR-TRV250 Digital 8 Handycam
Feb 09, 2006 10:05 PM 4627 Views

The Sony company must be really proud of their accomplishments. The 700 x digital zoom with the optical 20 x on this handycam is extremely out standing. This handycam comes with steady shot and night shot performance that stands on it's own.

The view finder fits the eye nicely not to large not to small. Easy to load with digital 8 tapes. The LCD screen is a little small but very clear and simple to use once you get use it is not so bad.

I hated the fact that all the buttons on this machine are so small. The writing is small as well. I realize that this camera is suppose to be a handy size but the buttons can be improved on. The focus button is in a great location but it is to small as well. The fact that it is the first button on the right side of the camera lower side does help to get to it quickly.

The battery does not run down to quickly on this camera and is easy to recharge and to install and uninstall.

Setting up to see a movie on your TV is also simple to do and this camera does a nice job of showing movies. The digital stills this camera takes can be improved upon. Over all it does a nice job. If your looking for a fun camera this one is fine, but if your looking for top of the line movies and pictures buy a higher end model from Sony.

The accessories are pretty darn good, with a remote for the handycam when watching your movies on a TV to all the cords required to run this camera. A accessory bag is a necessary item when travelling with this camera.

Sony's warranties are great, easy to deal with. The service this company supplies is great.

Nice Product from SONY once again ever. I got this model at Saudi Arabia Through my junior & it comes to be around Rs26,000/-

It was a huge cost for me 2 get it even @ the first year of my college. But the amount I put in it is worthful.Bcoz of its international warranty for about 3 years & the ultra modern carrying case & then the SONY privileage membership.

First I wanna describe abt the night shot feature Which made almost everything visible in nite sessions.I used it in nite in a park while I had roaming with my friends.Even I got a clear picture of a pair under the tree which it was abt 250 mts. that too in nite say 9'o clock that too in hilly areas like Munnar.

Then I get a very steady shot Even while focussing @ a longer distance & also a clear cut image if focussed exactly. Also during the rainy seasons Manual zoom helped me a lot to focus the drop & instantaneously switching it over to Auto ZOOM so that BackGround is visible.

But while converting my HI-8 tapes to CD's r DVD's I get a loss in quality bcoz of third party Tuner Card.Instead If I use a SONY DV port & DV cable then my clarity wun get lost I think so.

So itz good to get this model. But as it has been old nowadays go for SONY MiniDV-cam Which will cost just around 30-35k Which is worthful

SONY DCR -TRV 230 E (Digital Camcorder)

Sony's 2001 innovation at a budget price. A true rendering of Digital Video on Hi-8 Tapes, with astounding photographic quality even at very poor lighting condiions.

I have really enjoyed shooting and the pictures resemble professional movies.

The lens is surprisingly very sharp and the features are really plenty.

But the manual focusing is cumbersome and it should have been conveniently located and designed. Not always one can use auto-focus, especially in dark forests and wildlife shooting, with long zoom range. TRV-230 makes manual focusing very difficult with too many twists to make a very small change in focusing point.

Battery is fantastic, especially their 10 hour one.

Titling is single line which needs improvement to two or three lines.

A good camera to carry around.
