Canon ZR

On comparing video features with price, on JVC,Panasonic and Canon,I bought a canon zr65mc camcorder a yearback,when I visited my son in U.S. Lastweek it failed to record as the viewfinder both LCD and Viewfinder blackout ; I tried to play back a recorded tape and it plays into my TV.so recording function failed; I took it to a dealer who said the black out is due to its CCD failure;a service centre(not canon, as none is available in my city) would charge 7600-- to replace the CCD; but I didnot give to him;on visiting Canon-USA service web site, it had received many complaints of CCD failure in ZR series and they have undertaken to change it freely. But no facility in India. I feel it is advisable to buy camcorder for use in India unless the product has service facility in the country, even though manufacturers boast of global service facility.
