Yesterday I read a very thought provoking post by MS ID: Qualitymonster where he lamented at the sad state of infrastructure in my childhood city of Bombay.

My nostalgic passions were aroused after reading this and I decided to bring to public a thought that I always wanted to share: What's in a name? I love Bombay. I grew up here and I always will be in love with Bombay. However, ever since the name change to Mumbai in 1997 or so, I feel bit disconnected with the city. Why change names? Bombay has history associated with it. Why rechristen it?

I am sure many of you think Bombay is cool but never expressed it.
What are your view? I love BOMBAY. For that matter I love Calcutta, Madras and Cochin.

This morning, as you would have discovered, MouthShut.com has gone live with some major changes, especially with your Profile Page.  Your Profile Page is snazzier, more comprehensive and definitely reaches out more.

The changes made to your Profile Page are not cosmetic.  Nor are they designed to change the soul and core of MouthShut.com. The changes are done to simply create a greater bond between the existing members of MouthShut.com. So while the essence of MouthShut.com remains the same, the form has undergone some change to increase the proximity between members.

So what are the changes?

I’ll try and explain the changes done in the space available here, to make your experience on MouthShut.com pleasant and pleasurable.

Dashboard

The Dashboard is a quick summary of your activities on MouthShut.com. It's a sort of your pulse on MouthShut.com and displays your activity summary. Also, we will be displaying here recent visitors to your Profile.

My Diary

Until now, MouthShut.com was all about writing and reading reviews. Now we have added the feature of My Diary to it. As the name suggests it is all about writing your diary. It is your personal space, your personal blog where you can write all you want to, anything you want to.

Member’s Panel

Now this is an easy way to go back to your Profile Page while viewing the profile of another member. All tabs related to your Profile Page are visible here. In short, Member's Panel makes it easy for you to navigate various facets of your Profile Page.

Bookmark

By using Bookmark you will be saving the review you are reading or like very muchfor future reading. The link of the review will be saved on your Dashboard. Bookmarking a review is very simple - go to a Review Page and click on 'Bookmark this review' on the right-hand side of the same.

Photo Gallery

We admit that the importance given to pictures was nothing to crow about on MouthShut.com. So after some hard thinking, we have now made it possible for you to upload as many pictures as you wish to. There is no limit to uploading pictures on MouthShut.com now. Upload pictures of yourself, your family, friends and the whole world. To cut long story short, upload as many pictures as possible. Invite the whole world to view your uploaded pictures. Ask them to rate them too! 

Gifts

Now this is something we are very excited about. Hope it brings a smile to your lips as well.

Gifts are a nice way of showing your appreciation for your friends on MouthShut.com. You can send and receive gifts to your friends.

Hi everyone:

Life's like that - full of surprises. Every night, we close our eyes to a pattern and then wake up to the same world, except that slight modifications have been made to the pattern we are used to. Thoda change idhar, thoda change udhar.

For three long years everything on MouthShut fell into a pattern. MSians, both members and management went into a comfort zone. But somewhere deep down, there was this uneasy inertia. Through emails, a few members told us that though they loved the current design, they hankered for new stuff - new features and a new design. Bingo! That set the wheels in motion. And the first outcome was Product Cloud.

So what exactly is Product Cloud?

As our Product Manager aptly puts it: "It is a block on a page where keywords of most popular products and categories are put in to make it easier for people to visit those pages".
