Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Reviews

Twin joys and Twin headaches
Aug 27, 2024 03:52 PM 50+ Views

Its been 2 and half years since I bought the Interceptor home. Since there are a ton of reviews out there, let me keep this short and sweet.

Joys - The Engine and that torque. The clean looks. The gentle exhaust rumble. And the availability of accessories from RE and 3rd party.

Headaches - Suspension, especially the front(just like ache din) The seat. The headlight( RE has this habit of taking a few steps forward and then cut their legs off, throw them back into the past) and the God awful electronics. And finally tube tyres.

Crocin for headaches -

1 - Front Suspension - Bought Marsh Auto(Gujarat) Suspension Adjustors - has helped a lot. Stiff but no more clunking everytime I hit a paper pin on the road.

2 - Seat - Got it customized from Rao Seats - Shivaji Nagar Bangalore. Expensive but much much better than stock which is like a door mat.

3 - Headlight - Replaced the halogen with Cyclops Ultra HD LED. I can now see dead people.you can also check out Vaishnu Headlights.

4 - Handle bar raisers from Carbon Racing. Much better seating posture. Cables have to be re-routed.

5 - Replaced all 4 replays with Denso Relays. Expensive but much better quality than stock relays.

6 - Schorl(Pune) Air filter - Mileage is 25 kms per liter on the highway. Average speeds are around 90 kms per hour.

7 - Replaced stock spoke wheels with original RE alloys. Had to get new tyres as the spoke wheel tyres are for tube tyres only.

8 - Prospec Clutch cable set up - Smooth to operate, up shifts are light but downshits can get a bit tight. From what I heard from other mechanics, it's hard to get the setting right. But not a deal breaker.

9 - Due to upswept silencers, I bought Saddle Stays from Old School Customs Panvel. Better than Zana on any given day and ride.

Luggage is from Invictus Pune. Have used Rynox bags in the past. Pathetic. Invictus is far better.

I have not done anything more. I am looking at Iridium spark plugs and Versrah brake pads. That's about it. I am happy with the power and touring capability.

So if you need an affordable but powerful motorcycle for highway touring and cover between 700 to 1000 kms a day, the Inty will do the job. And since its an RE - ensure the service is always on time. Will not recommend for the city. The Inty loves the open road and speeds at 100 km per hour is the sweet spot.

Most please probably say that this bike is not worth, mileage is to low etc

As a user experience inhave used this bike for more than a year and sharing my experience

First of all bikes too have categories

Like sports, adventure, naked sports, cruiser, urban cruiser, scrambler, Cafe racer, commuter etc.

When it come to Royal Enfield Interceptor this is a higher displacement cc bike and heavy bike( weight vise) this bike is not for any one this is a type of urban cruiser,

Before buying any bike first know you your niche then select the bike

So inhave selected this as my secondary bike and I just loved it, if we are buying expensive bike we should be ready with the expenses for fuel, maintenance etc ,

If properly maintained then this bike is just a true love within a sec this bike crosses 100kmph without any vibration as such and the topspeed this bike can achieve is around 170kmph which way too much for indian roads,

And one more thing I can say this is the cheapest 650 cc

I have done aroun 900km ride in this bike didn't faced any issues or any problem .

Love it

Loving every moment. Totally worth the price. Unlike the REs from earlier generations. This is a perfect ride for long tours.

This bike is a very good bike. It has a good suspension and its silencer sounds different from the classic 350, its not that loud its special thing is that its design has became very popular. Every one loved it and I also. its sale has increased due to this design

Interceptor 650 : the new royal enfield comes with parallel twin engine . its the best bike I had never see before. I like the way it exhaust rumble sounds from them. good looks from 19th model . everything is perfect but foot pegs should be change its is good when ride that but when your handling in traffic you should keep your legs front or back of that pegs . slipper clutch will helps you faster down shifts and good braking when your movie in high speeds.and top speed when I ride that bike was 160 then after you an feel little vibrations . if your looking for low cost 650 cc engine . my suggestions should be this twins .if your committed rider if you need riding posture go with continental gt 650 . and this interceptor is good for long rides

I saw it on road first and then Kaboom

Well I actually first saw it when I was having tea.

Was thinking it looks like old looks.

Is this a modified Royal Enfield?

Was looking very carefully, suddenly I saw:

1) A big V engine

2) Dual Exhaust

Felt like modern RD350 or Upgraded version of RE Classic.

Fell in love ??

Then before the rider was taking yhe bike, I checked the name, its interceptor.

Googled it, wow its really a new version, where continental GT did not work much with RE, but this bike will surely burn the floor.

I am planning to get one soon.

A bike which is like a dream bike.

A bike of 1960s with power like a beast.

More BHP than KTM.

And lastly sound of the bike is also nice, unlike KTM.

Good buy if keen on owning a budget 650.
Sep 08, 2019 01:32 PM 4516 Views (via Mobile)

As I am an owner of a RE interceptor 650 I could give a fairly more experienced review of it.

Pro:

1) A powerful enough engine for Indian roads with good lowerend grunt. And easy to control since the power delivery is very linear.

2) Chassis is well designed, good at cornering.

3) Fairly reasonable fuel economy for a 650.

4) Brake s are something you can really bank on.

5) Stock tyres provide good grip while cornering even on wets. Though be weary of loose gravel.

Cons:

1) Stock seat is meant only for short commutes.

2) Rubbish stock mirrors

3) Lack luster instrument cluster.

4) Fuel gauge inaccurate.

5) handle bar design and placement is for a 6' + rider.

6) Foot peg placement feels kinda awkward in the beginning but can be gotten accustomed to.

My final verdict. Go for the bike only if you are keen on owning a 650 with a 3lakh budget.

RE Interceptor Review
Apr 01, 2019 03:11 PM 9288 Views (via Mobile)

I am not an expert, but just sharing my experience with RE Interceptor. Instrument cluster is not accurate, fuel gauge, neutral does not show correctly. Gear changing is bad, even if it is in 2nd or 3rd gear the bike just gets into neutral (no indication on the cluster) and have to change the gear. This is something I have no idea why?. Footpegs positioning everyone knows is very uncomfortable. Seat is uncomfortable especially for the pillion. So please make sure to take a long test ride and if possible more than 1 to decide. Reviews on YouTube I think most of them are paid. So choose for yourself.

STYLISH DESIGN
Mar 26, 2019 04:37 PM 6938 Views

I obtained Royal enfield intercepter cc great in 2019 and sold out the fat woman only two days back on 23rd March 2019

Awful Points first: -

Bike conveyed with a little scratch on fumes pipe and a shabby key ring as go-die. I acknowledged it.

Directly from the third month I felt the bike back tire wobbles, particularly amid turns at higher speed. Imperial en-field's Royal designers never recognized it till my everything free administrations expired.I continued altering my driving with bike . which really improved my driving aptitudes. so practically following 2 years I got my bike's wheel adjusted by spending nearly Rs 700. This proceeded at any rate once every year till I sold my bike.

  1. Speedometer link broke 17 times+ Speedometer just once

Byke motor head got recognized with a hair line break on inside and I needed to supplant it by Shredding Rs 12000/ - "As it were".

Illustrious enfield give low quality of extra parts.

Past 80 KMPL the byke looses its cool and vibrates like hellfire. 70 - 80 KMPL is the sweet range.

You have to keep up the byke more than your significant other . mark my words. The Body gets rust all around effectively, the electric cabling work is very . shoddy. RE utilizes conduit tape in pales under front light to package link! .would you be able to trust that?!

Riggings are not in any manner smooth, and will stall out much of the time. The pickup is lazy post 80KMPL . it's intense.

Electric begin will conq off with in a time of your buy notwithstanding for the 500cc ones. The issue is the electric startup pack quality that RE gives.

Its made pointlessly substantial. in spite of the fact that it didn't made a difference much for me. The back view reflect vibrates alongside front fork.

Great focuses:-

The Byke is a sight to behold . generally you will see spectators on street. We Indian(including myself) feel glad about owning one. I don't have the foggiest idea WHY? . as I said sight to behold

In the event that all pieces of the byke works fine, the ride is Rock stable. however, that doesn't occur.

Each repairman on the planet can fix your byke. counting yourself. No mind boggling chip controlled stuff at any rate for Classic 350, Electra and TB.( For 500 cc ones Fuel infusion is a test). It's a mechanical byke. all stray pieces.

Resale esteem is great. I sold it at Rs 70k after 5 yrs. You won't get this sort of profit for some other bike.

RE is making due in India as a result of zero challenge in this portion. simply hold up till some other organization comes up to contend. Individuals are prepared to pay more. yet at the same time don't get the quality . RE couldn't care less about its fan adherents desires.

Purchase a projectile just on the off chance that you are enthusiastic about Cruising long traffic free separations . its NOT at all a City bike. it is anything but a get bike.

Bike with Gem of an Engine.

For about the small niggles in the bike. Timeless design, simplicity at its best, parallel twin, 270 degree firing order, something that makes triumph grossly expensive, I mean what else could one ask for at 3lacs, and the built quality is in different level not concerned about electricals... this is going to be One Delicious bike out there.!!!!!!!

much powerful and beautifully designed from every side best for all purpose

A Game Changer for RE
Jan 29, 2019 06:21 AM 7005 Views (via Mobile)

Royal Enfield has always been about comfort and style than power and performance although they've done a fair job in the latter areas. The rollout of Interceptor is definitely a sign that RE has got to rethinking their strategy to sustain in the market. its defintely a huge step-up considering the fact that RE has not made any significant changes to their engine design since the 80s! honestly, i had begun to wonder what RE engineers have been doing all this time, probably busy fixing tonnes of maintenance issues that comes with their bike. Anyway, whether you want to cruise on the highway or power through is a question of choice and with a 350 or 500cc bike you should be free to do both. but with RE you dont have that choice because the bike cant even rev past 4k rpm with its legacy pushrod ohv engine. but RE seemed to hide that flaw under the brand propaganda and make believe media hypes that states bullets are only meant for cruising not power and speed, which seems more like a lame excuse.. i was like come on guys stop the bs and get real! and after all these years of long wait they finally did! i own a thunderbird and i absolutely love the bike but i always felt the bike has been limited by its technology it could do a lot better if the RE folks had the bajaj attitude. interceptor is truly a beast resurrected from the past, i took a test ride and absolutely loved it. cant wait to be the proud owner :)

hi friends,

Royal Enfield’s Interceptor 650 is one of the company’s first twin-cylinder motorcycles in over 50 years and sits alongside the Continental GT sharing the brand-new 650cc motor.

It is possibly the most important moment in Royal Enfield’s illustrious history. Part of a new chapter in the great British brand that has been under Indian guidance since 1994. “A company with UK roots, an Indian soul and a global approach, ” says its Chief Executive, Siddhartha Lal.

The bike is very much a modern-day classic with a retro roadster appearance distracting the eye from its 21st century development and build. Royal Enfield is on the up; from 50, 000 bikes built in 2010, the firm made 890, 000 last year and promises a capacity of 950, 000 when by August 2019 driven by the Oragadam factory and the new Chennai-based technology centre.

Underling the significance of the new 650 twins, Lal stated at the international press launch in Santa Cruz, California that the project is “the biggest and most important in my career.”

With nothing but the most basic operations heralding back to a simpler motorcycling era, the Interceptor is a real treat to ride, reaching in and bringing out your most relaxed riding state.

Royal Enfileld is good to use. It is helpful for back pain people .It cure the back pain. It gives more sound.

Bad things:

In the royal Enfield when we travel in highway at high speed engine began to stoped so it is a one problem. So, we should had a race bike engine to royal Enfield .we should improve our engine into more powerfull one. We should improve the 260cc into 600cc. It gives more and less petrol to drive the bike

Good bike
