The people of India know that their country is drowned in CORRUPTION.
This is not new but it has been increasing day by day. Everybody is familiar
with the indiscriminate use and spending of “aam aadmi” ki money thus
making him poorer by lacs of crores. Later even the involvement of a chief
minister was being talked about. This was followed by 2G,3G scam of the
same magnitude. Hasan Ali, and earlier (Telagi) the huge fraud in the printing of Govt.
Stamp paper was the talk of the town. There is scam after scam and the Govt.
has failed to do anything about the corruption at any levell-p. Lesser corruption
which ‘aam aadmi’ has to contend with everyday nobody is even talking about.
What Anna is doing is only raising his voice against this kind of dealing in our Govt.
Janlokpal bill which has been drafted by educated and well known and well
placed civil society members from different walks of life is an attempt to bring
some deterrent and fear in the minds of people. What some of the Ministers
and spokespersons of the govt. are saying beats the very basic understanding
about the quality of these people. Nobody, just nobody expects the corruption
to be eradicated overnight by any bill but only introduces a mechanism to deal
with corruption. This Govt. tried to appoint da tainted man as the CVC. If the
Prime Minister is clean what is the fear about his name
being there for scrutiny. So also is the case with other worthies. Unfortunately
we have chief ministers and other highly placed worthies steeped in illegal ways.
I have read the statements, highly irresponsible, of highly placed people and judges and writer to talk
against Anna Hazare. This has distressed me and lot of others. All these worthies
are not seeing the extent of popular feelings, anger and support to Anna Hazare.
I have not named anybody but people know whom I mean.
Now it is for the GOvt. to see the writing on the faces of lacs of Indians who have come in support of this anti corruption movement and not insist on anything but accept the Janlokpal bill, may be with minor changes, and for once heed to the will of the people. Let me now say that some of the ministers have not talked sense when they expressed opposition to the anticorruption crusade, foremost among these were Congress spokespersons, Ministers of I&B and HRD some other persons in Govt., a prominent author and some more.
I will reiterate that the Govt. owes it to the people of this country a corruption free administration and for that a beginning is to be made. This diary was penned at the suggestion of an MSIAN-Cattie.
