Online Fraud: Eglobe solutions & Holiday Mela.com
Jul 12, 2011 05:21 AM 3493 Views

I had made an online booking for Hotel Dasaprakash in Mysore for 2 days(2 rooms) on 2nd and 3rd June and full payment was taken online for the same by 28th May when I booked through holiday mela(EGLOBE solutions company). I found that odd as earlier when I have booked for hotels online anywhere in the world, it is only a booking fees they charge. in anycase, I made the payment and I was sent a confirmation to take to the hotel. I was only provided a contact number in Delhi and no hotel numbers or or route to the hotel were given to me.

I wanted to confirm late check in and also find out the route to the hotel for which after I called the Delhi contact number twice, I was given the hotel number. but when I called the hotel they had no info of room booking for me. in anyway, I found the way and made my way to the hotel. At the hotel, they confirmed availability of rooms and presented the rate card - according to which the room charges would have been Rs. 1500 per day but online for having paid in advance, I had paid Rs. 1850 per day. When I said I have already made my payment online, they searched and had to say that they have received no confirmation of payment or confirmation of booking from Holiday Mela.com. When I then closely scrutiinized the confirmation holidaymela had provided me, there was no confirmation of amount paid on it. However, I logged on to my credit card online and showed the payments made to Holiday mela. So the hotel accomodated me and said they will contact holiday mela and get confirmations. I got my two rooms after almost 1 hour delay at the lobby because of this confusion. I was also charged for an extra bed(as we were 5 of us - 3 adults and two kids) online whereas at the hotel we were told there was no need considering they were children.

At the time of check out again, though the website had promised that I have made full payment inclusive of taxes, I was told by the hotel that I need to pay the taxes.

I contacted holidaymela and the operator said she will have to ask someone else to talk to me but no one called me back for almost half an hour. Since I was in a hurry to catch flights from Bangalore, I made the tax payments and checked out. After that I received a cll from holiday mela 45 mins later, apologising for the inconvenience and that I needn't pay the taxes. When I mentioned my wait for 30 mins and that I have already paid, I was promised refund. I came back and wrote in detail to holiday mela and also spoke to the manager - one Mr. Pradeep of all the above. He refused the rates on card at the hotel were different from online and that he accepted they need to improve the confirmation they give. And also promised to process a refund by 13th of June. However there was no such refund processed and even a month later I am following up on this. Beware if you are booking hotels online and especially avoid booking through holidaymela.com or budgethotels - both EGLOBE solutions company.

Eglobe Travels & IndiaBudgetHotels : Fraud

BEWARE!!!

Even I have a terrible experiance with India Budget Hotels. In November last month I made a reservation for a hotel at Lonavala and it was confirmed. I paid the amount Rs.5060 by credit card. Just about 3-4 days before the time of booking, I called up at the hotel for confirmation of booking and was shocked to know that there are no booking ever made and they wouldn't entertain any either since they had no faith in eGlobe travels. I called up eGlobe and a very soft spoken representative answered the call and said that they will book another hotel for me which was equivalent to the one earlier and we were OK with it. But this time I wasn't sure, so again called up at the hotel and got the same reply as in the earlier case. Also, my earlier booking was a 3 star one and the one they provided as on the net was a 1 star hotel. The eGlobe representative, Radhika, confirmed that the hotel was a 2 star and I would certainly enjoy my stay there. By now I was utterly frustrated and was more worried so just said OK. Asked for a refund for the difference and got a mail confirmation that refund was made to my credit card account.

On reaching Lonavala and trying to go to the hotel, I found that there was not even a road to reach the hotel. I was not even a 1 star hotel and even there, the people had no notice from eGlobe that we will stay there.

We had to move to a different hotel. Pay the money there. I contacted eGlobe, Radhika, who again politely confirmed that she will refund me the entire amount.

So far I am still stuggling (after almost 1 month of cancellation) to get my refund. No more replies are being received to my mails and no one picks the telephone.

So, if you ever want to travel, NEVER go to anything that even closely resembles the name eGlobe Travels or IndiaBudgetHotels.com .

Bangalore India
Online Fraud - Be Warned!!
Mar 29, 2005 11:44 AM 2515 Views

Hi,

I had the misfortune of booking a hotel room through this web site. I got the information on this website from an advertisement on http://www.indianrail.gov.in . Believing in the trustworthiness of Indian Railways and their advertisers, I clicked on the link and went to the site. It was well designed, navigation was good, and I got the hotel room for the price I was looking for (Rs. 750 + 10% tax = rs. 825).

There was an option for booking the rooms online through Credit card, and I took that option. CC validation was through a CCAvenue gateway and my Credit Card was accepted and I was billed for 825.00, and I received a mail within 1 day confirming that my hotel room has been reserved for me on the said date. So far, I am happy with the service.

Fast forward to the day I check in to my hotel. The reservations are in place, the rates are as mentioned in the web site, and I have a nice stay. While checking out, I notice that the hotel has billed me for an amount of Rs. 248.00.

On enquiry, I find out that this web site does not have any agreement with the said hotel, and they have merely sent a mail to them informing them to reserve the room and sent them a check of Rs. 577.00. The hotel says since they received the money, they have reserved the room, but the price is Rs. 825.00, so I have to pay the remaining amount.

On haggling with them, they produce a copy of the letter from this site, clearly mentioning that only Rs. 577.00 is being sent to them for reserving the rooms!! I am flabbergasted as I was under the impression that the whole amount has been paid for.

The web site clearly mentions that the whole amount is charged and I need not pay the hotel any money. When I mention it to the hotel clerk, he says they don't even know who this site is, and they have had such cases previously also from people who had booked through the site.

Left with no choice, I had to pay the balance amount. I am now Rs. 248.00 in the arrears, and all my calls and emails to this site to recover my money are being ignored.

I am really frustrated with no way to recover the money, I felt if I could warn some people about my experiences, I could atleast prevent them from defrauding other innocent customers on the net.
