“Doordarshan…a Bull who has lost the road…
There was a time in my life, when I used to get up on a Sunday morning waiting for my He-man, and the magical costume drama, Ramayan, Mahabharat. Since that day and now where my TV watch includes, the Sci-fi X-files, or the Alien Family of Third Rock from the sun.
In India since the invasion of all these Cable channels, Doordarshan has been the worst hit. Due, to non-interference of Government and a freedom to innovate has made these private channels go far ahead of DD.
DD though has tried many stunts like having MTV take some portion, and now tied up with Channel 9, but some where down the line, still it has to come a long way to keep up to the mark. Online presence is the next big thing, which all the channels had got, and Doordarshan again lacked in this aspect.
2 days back, I was going through a website called comfm.com which is a online directory, of links to the list of websites with live webcams, live videos. Going through this website, I saw a link a to Asia and under India, their was 2 website with live video access. Ddindia.net was one of the website.

Ddindia.net is the official website of Doordarshan. But hold your breath, you will be discouraged to know that this website is the website only for Doordarshan’s Pay channel ddworld. Which I am dead sure that most of you have not even heard of.
Design ….Layout..
The first look at the website gives you an impression, DD really wants to be in the race of online presence and has done a decent job with their website. It’s website with black background and using a consistent font all over the website. The website loads pretty faster as regards, looking the amount of content it carries.
Content is king…
Now what has this website to offer. This website is all about Ddworld’s schedule, latest news, and video’s of their documentary’s serials etc.
Before going to this website, every one need to have Realplayer in your system because all the video’s and music files are in Realplayer format. Which is again bad for DD because they should have given option of Windows media player or Quick Time player.
Instead of giving a detail and lengthy stuff, I would give you a small brief about this section.
Latest News
You can view the latest news happening, apart from that you can view the news based on certain dates. There are 2options English and Hindi so make your choice and view it.
Bollywood Beats
If your are interested in listening to the old as well as “some” new beats then you can enjoy this section. But again it is as outdated as DD itself.
Rhythms of India
If you didn’t have enough of documentary on DD then check this on their website.
Matters of Faith
If you are religious and want to check some religious temples like Golden Temple and Vaishnodevi then you can have your wishes come true on this section.
Food Zone
If you are food crazy and want to check some recipes being made then can check out this section.

Overall For a change at least we can see a website by a public sector organisation. But the problem is it’s an unheard glory like their channel itself.
