Microsoft has lunched windows 8, 1 before 3 years. They have done lots of improvement  in the OS. At the start it was having lots of concern, like it used to get hanged in timely manner. Microsoft provided lots of patches in a span of one year to fix all those.

With the latest build it's really stable and efficient. The look and feel of UI is improved a lot from their earlier version. File search functionality is also very very fast now. Apart from all those they have added lots of inbuild facility to cross verify the application while user try to install a outside software.By any chance OS finds any concern with the file, it notifies back to the user. You can safe guard your files and registry with new features by adding administrator previlage to them so that any of the outside application can not hamper them at run time,

With RAM as low as 2GB you can easily go ahead and keep on surfing or doing some task in Windows8.1 very efficiently.

Windows 8.1 is a very good operating system for latest computers. It supports all the software and old and latest. Win 8.1 is very easy to use and for new users its also very easy to learn. I am using windows 8.1 for one year and I haven't found any dullness on it.

If anyone wants to set their computer  to a windows it should be 8.1. I love windows 8.1 for its look and reliability of using and supportive. For a 4GB RAM of system it is a very fine and no lagging OS.

If you are a new user you donot know how to use windows system then you have to install windows 8 or some upgrade version.

I purchased Windows 8.1 two weeks ago and installed on computer. The new Windows 10 operating system came out and I have had nothing but trouble ever since I installed it.

I have called and been on hold with Microsoft over the last 2 days for over 6 1/2 hours attempting to talk to someone who can resolve an issue with drivers compatibility on windows 10. No one can fix the issue and they keep sending me to different departments.

I just want my computer to function correctly. I have been scheduled for 3 different callback times over the past 2 days and I received the first one 4 hours late and I missed it. The following two callbacks never arrived. Currently, while writing this review I am on hold with Microsoft. I spoke to a customer service representative who told me that he was transferring me right over to someone who would be able to help.

The performance has also gradually increased and you can feel the pace increased while you use it.

I have switched from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 few months back. Previously also I tried to switch from Windows 7 to Windows 8(Not 8.1), but it had so many problems that I had to switch back to Windows 7.

Cons:

• Cisco VPN has stopped working on Windows 8. Microsoft should consider other vendors support  as well. We are no longer to install VPN software and connect to desired network via VPN.

  
  




• Start menu was the Microsoft known thing which they had changed. Now it is really hard to use start menu and find the programs easily. Navigation of up down and left right takes more time.

  
  




• Searching is slow. Even finding a program takes a lot of time.

  
  




• The theme of Windows 8 sometimes does not make a foreground and background app distinguished.

  
  

Overall I am not that happy with windows 8.1. But as the time advances we have to switch to latest releases as underlying they fix a lot of security issues.

If your hardware supports and you are an internet guy then you should install this OS and make yourself habitual of this.

If you work in isolation without internet then you may wish to stay back with old gold windows 7.

I think windows 8.1 version has very advanced features. It is designed both for pc and windows smartphone who are using windows 8 in their PC can upgrade it to 8.1.

Windows 8.1 is faster than windows 8. It is very complicated for those who has not good idea of windows os . I got my hand on Windows 8.1 and did a clean install on my system  32 bit version as my old OS was a pirated version of window 7 Ultimate. yes It works without any issues but

There are problems installing drivers like micromax modem etc.

To be fair I am a fan of windows Live Tiles and Metro UI but when using it made me feel that I installed a OS which is meant for Tablets but I installed it on my desktop. This version of windows8 is really awesome, although there are not many differences between windows8 and windows 8.1 but many of the bugs are fixed.

The windows 8 is very fluid and it too have a great user interface, but the start button of the windows is still missed by the users.

The apps function does not seem to be of any use, its just another way of displaying installed software and in devices like desktop and laptop(devices without touch) it is very dry to use the app feature if the windows.

Hope for a great windows 10 and more.

I think its best of the windows right now after the pain of Vista the relief of windows 7 and defiantly all fixing of windows 8. the best part was the windows button that is re-added to this version which makes it very useful. though I still not use or like the tiles but I think those gives you great visual experience.

The performance has also gradually increased and you can feel the pace increased while you use it. no matter if you are booting using multitasking the system is REALLY VERY FAST! Much recommended! All the Best!

WINDOWS 8.1  has been out for a few months and is a freely downloadable update.

microsoft has already released what is equivalent of a first service pack for it, windows8.1 update 1.

Hi my experience with the most popular operating system in the world microsoft Windows 8.1 has been very good.

I have been using Microsoft windows 8.1 in my dell inspiron 15R laptop for over 2 years and I'm very happy with its performance.

I earlier had a desktop and had windows 7 installed in it and found it very easy to use and learned it quickly.

Then we bought laptop with windows 8.1 preinstalled and its a bit tough to use and not simple enough as my laptop is not touch friendly.

Also the size of windows 8.1 is far more than windows 7 and hence occupies more space in the cdrive.

The functionality, its looks and the apps are good and very useful. I would recommend it but wait for windows 10 as I read it it will be better.

After the success of windows xp and windows 7 Microsoft has launched windows 8 which made users a big disappointment. 75% of the operating system was almost similar to windows 7 but the remaining 25% new changes were totally odd.

The introduced apps in pc which didn't work well and the start menu was a big disappointment where no one liked it. It was totally about the metro design in windows 8 probably upcoming windows 10 will overcome all the defects in windows 8.1

Just for a glimpse of overview the windows 10 can be updated for free from windows 7 or 8 for 1 year. but still outcomes as a average product for end users.

Last year, I made the mistake of upgrading my Windows 7 Desktop System to Windows 8. I've been running Windows 8.1 since the Preview version that came out a few months ago, and the official release version that came out this week.

While Windows 8.1 does make some improvement Windows 8.1 does fix some of the issues people running desktop environments complained about, but it still does not go far enough. If you're running a touchscreen system, then 8.1 isn't bad at all.

If you're not and have Windows 7, I'd think long and hard on whether Windows 8.1 is an upgrade or downgrade from what you have to Windows 8, it is still is not an O/S that is desktop friendly.MS seems to have concluded that they should make everything feel more like a tablet because tablets are selling so well. I like tablets and use two of them regularly. But I also think that there are certain things that will always be easier on a PC than on a tablet-primarily producing information rather than consuming it.

Unfortunately with Windows 8, those things just got harder on a PC.

There are few changes in the 8.1 version. Its a hybrid. A tablet/mobile and desktop one, the new things in this is., it gots a search and power botton on start screen.secondly. Taskbar will show in tablet mode.modern apps. Whenever you slide down your cursor., third, there is tittle bar for tablet apps. Like video player etc. You can Directly minimize and close the app by simply move the cursor on top, and tittle bar will appears, that you usually do for old windows version, (7 or older., )

This is the Review of Windows 8.1 for PC. Let's start from the start menu which has gone missing. If you are a start menu fan, you are required to use third party applications like'classic shell'.

The next nail is that it is stuck somewhere between PCs and Tablets. The tablet apps take a while to open. When you want to open a simple image file, windows will directly go on to use the Tablet App for image viewing. However, PC apps have survived and defaults can be changed. Windows allow deletion of many tablet apps.

The another feature is the Store which is quite handy. The task manager is highly improved and not at all like the Windows 7 or xp one which needed to be clicked end task a thousand times. The metro screen is helpful if you want to directly delete apps from it. The startup time is higly reduced. Gone are the days when you had to go for a cup of tea to start your pc.

It will boot even before you return from a trip to the next room. Some old programs are not conlmpaitable to it.  Other components are quite similar to Windows 7.
