SAP 4.7 worst edition!!!
Dec 19, 2016 11:43 AM (via Mobile)

This is the worst edition launched by SAP team.I really hate this update from SAP!

SAP enterprise edition is the one the ERP in the market which gives the user the complexity in the system.A well educated people can only use this kind of an ERP system because its is not so user-friendly and more complex to use this software.and also there is not a good work environment because we have to travel alot as a consultant that is very irritative and also there is no career growth and no salary and benefits.

So its better for the freshers for not getting engaged in the sap erp system when they start their career so be aware

already so many are finding difficult after they started their career in SAP.

SAP 4.7 IS A ONLINE AND OFFLINE ACCOUNTING
Sep 06, 2016 11:41 AM

This server contains the SAP applications. In systems with two layers, this server forms part of the database server. Application server can be set up for online users, for background processing, or for both.

An application server is a collection of executable that collectively interpret the BAP/4(Advanced Business Application Programming / 4th Generation) programs and manage the input and output for them. When an application server is started, these executable all start at the same time. When an application server is stopped, they all shut down together. The number of processes that start up when you bring up the application server is defined in a single configuration file called the application server profile. Each application server has a profile that specifies its characteristics when it starts up and while it is running. For example, an application server profile specifies:

SYSTEM APPLICATION SUPPORT (SAP) !!!
Jul 07, 2009 03:47 PM

Jennifer: - Oh! My God, so, India is in a terrible condition at present. Companies are recruiting MBA guys at a package of 1.8 lacs per annum. After the budget, I think that a farmer can also earn more than 2 lacs per annum. This recession is the right time to upgrade your certifications or learn some new skills, rather than accepting those jobs of low salary. By the way, I have heard that you are doing a course on SAP. What is that?

Tony: - Well, the full form of SAP is“SYSTEM APPLICATION PRODUCT”. The name of the company is SAP AG, as it is a German company. AG term is used in Germany, as like INC term is used in India. It is ERP software. ERP means Enterprise Resource Planning. The main objective of ERP is to integrate all processes like HR, Marketing, Production, IT, Finance etc. to run the organization smoothly.

Neeraj: - No, I don’t agree to your point that ERP is implemented to integrate all processes only. See, there is another department, which is known as Management Information System(MIS). This department creates analytical reports based on the integrated data from all other departments. Based on these reports, from CEO to Junior Executive, everyone tries to take decisions to reach their individual goals. That individual goal ultimately results in fulfilling the mission of the company. Now, consider the present competitive market. The emphasis is now on how fast can you generate analytical report and how fast you can response to that report by taking a particular decision, which can be either yes or no. To speed up the report generation, we don’t want this manual MIS department anymore. Rather, we will automate the entire process. The servers will extract all data from different departments and will create a report automatically. Correct decision at the correct time can fetch you the maximum profit. Correct timing is the key here and that is where the significance of implementation of SAP comes in. It is basically the marriage of Management techniques and Analytical reports, resulting in huge profits.

David: - There are lots of ERP Software like Oracle Financials and others. But, why we will go for SAP only?

Arindam: - Ha ha ha… this is the common question everyone asks. In today’s market scenario, hardly you can figure out the companies which have sustained in the market, without diversification of their business. As a company, if it is in the same business line for generation to generation, and still it is doing profit, then Oracle Financials is the best ERP software for you. But, the moment you are diversifying in the market, then Oracle Financials will fail to serve you. But, SAP has the flexibility to serve you, because if SAP is the Indian Ocean, then Oracle Financials is just the Bay of Bengal.

Tony: - Ya, Arindam is absolutely correct. Not only have that, SAP runs on an R/3 Tier Architecture, which gives an edge. The three servers are Database Servers controlled by DBA or BASIS people, Application Servers controlled by ABAP programmers and Presentation Servers controlled by functional consultants. Now, if you are a Computer or IT Engineer, then you can surely work as an ABAP developer. If you are an OCP certified person having good knowledge on SQL queries or in Networking, then you can work as DBA or BASIS person. If you are a Post-Graduate guy either as a MBA or M-Tech or M.Sc., then you can surely work as the functional or SAP Consultants on your own domain like FI-CO, CRM, BI, MM, HR, etc.

Jennifer: - What are these FI-CO, MM etc? Please explain in details, if you can.

Arindam:- Well, there are around 14 types of main modules in SAP like CRM(Customer Relationship Management), FI-CO(Financial Integrals and Controlling), EP(Enterprise-Portals), SRM(Supplier Relationship Management), SCM(Supply Chain Management, MM( Materials Management), APO(Advanced Planning Optimizer), PLM(Product Lifecycle Management), HCM(Human Capital Management), IP(Integrated Planning), BC(Business Consolidation), BI(Business Intelligence), CPM(Corporate Finance Monitors), SEM(Strategic Enterprise Management) and XI(Exchange Interface). There are many more to come, as SAP is now going to implement modules solely based on International Financial Reporting Structure(IFRS). So, every organization should implement SAP for better efficiency from Raw materials to finished Goods to Customer relations and to retaining key talented people.

Wipro - SAP One Partnership on xSOP
Dec 17, 2007 11:23 AM

A robust Sales and Operation Planning(S&OP) enables an organization to achieve a synchronized plan across various business functions, thus allowing the balancing of supply with demand, leading to benefits of an improved forecast accuracy, increased customer service levels, higher revenues and optimal asset utilization.

In order to help organizations achieve the maximum benefits from their S&OP processes, Wipro & SAP have collaborated on a Sales and Operations Planning solution(xSOP) developed on SAP’s composite application framework. This solution will provide a decision support tool that can be used to measure current performance and identify future gaps in revenue, capacity and margins.

According to McKinsey’s survey executives say that their company’s supply chain risk has risen in retailing, manufacturing, and energy. Organizations say that they mitigate risk by entering into performance contracts. Organizations manage demand risks by following the strategies

•Customer Rationalization – All customers are not equal.

•Price Management and risk sharing involving forecasting, category management, and sales and operations planning

•Buy side contract management to improve compliance.

•Network design for agility.

•S&OP for a realistic and profitable supply chain.

ERP through SAP.
Dec 31, 2004 03:52 PM

Hi,

This review is not just about the product but will also act as a prelude to those who would like to know what is this three lettered animal - SAP all about.

SAP AG is a German firm known for its flagship product (Read: package) with the same name. SAP is a German acronym when translated into English reads Systems, Applications and Products for data processing. SAP is the leading ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) product as on date. I am not dwelling into the concepts of ERP, since it was detailed out by Kamaljit. Please go through Kamaljit’s review about it. Hey Kamaljit, I am getting your points yaar..!

What prompted me to write about SAP? I work for a leading software service firm in their ERP practice. I have been working with this package for the past 5 months. The range of business processes covered and the services provided by this package is enormous. Being the third largest independent software company in the world, one should know how they made to great heights. I’ll try my best to avoid all the jargons of the package.

The company was started in 1972 by five ex-IBM engineers. The data collected from various industries and the man-hours spent in coming out with this comprehensive package was massive. Now lets directly go to the package. 4.7 Enterprise edition is the recent version of SAP package. Like any other ERP package, SAP contains various functional modules. Some of them are:

  1. Materials Management (MM)

  2. Sales & Distribution (SD)

  3. Production Planning (PP)

  4. Quality Management (QM)

  5. Finance & Controlling (FICO)

Sounds simple! Doesn’t it. But every module is complex enough to make one go crazy. If this being the case, then just imagine a package implementation with all these modules integrated! We used to ‘Sit And Pray’ to avoid the state of ‘Sab Aadmi Pareshan’. Yes, these are the lighter expansions for SAP!

The package is called as the SAP R/3. R/3 standing for Real-time information system. Based on the Client-Server architecture, the package provides high level of integration thereby guaranteeing consistency of data through out the system. The bunch of programs written to make this package is called the R/3 kernel. This is written in C and C++. These programs can sit upon databases like Oracle, DB/2 etc. The front-end part where the end-user interacts is again made from C, C++ graphics. The business requirements to be fulfilled are written in a programming language called ABAP (Advance Business Application Language). The database inside SAP is called BASIS. Each of these categories have separate specialized consultants. That’s it now with technical stuffs. Lets see the pros and cons of the package.

Pros:

The package is based on the concept of table-driven customization. This means that there is a separate set of programs which makes the changes in these tables quickly according the business requirements. Users can also pitch in their own programs to add their functionalities. This makes the entire architecture flexible.

Cons:

The package is very expensive running to crores. And the consulting charges outdo cost of the package. Companies which make atleast 100crores of annual revenue go for it. Recognizing this, SAP AG has come out with a low-cost version called BusinessOne for the SMBs.

Hope I made myself simple and clear. Thanks for reading it.
