Morpheus Human Consulting Review
Mar 08, 2019 03:49 PM

I am a BMS student was looking for an internship in marketing where my skills could be testified and enhanced as I was planning to do my MBA in that field. Before getting enrolled in MBA an internship in the desired field would be very helpful to get a practical experience. Applied for several internships from internshala out of which Morpheus Human Consulting was the one to call me up just after the day I applied there. Got the call of selection on the same day I Interviewed. I must say am having a good challenging experience in Morpheus Consulting. The positive as well as the negative feedback I received really helped me to overcome my difficulties. Overall a friendly work environment

What a waste
Mar 28, 2002 10:49 AM

I downloaded the earlier version of Morpheus and was quite satisfied with the same, however since Morpheus has upgraded the software the old on does not run any longer. So I downloaded the new software and foud out that it was an UTTER WASTE to have done so as now it is almost impossible to download files. I personally feel that AUDIOGALAXY is a much better option for downloading files. I am sure there will be many more users like me who are facing the same problem and mus be dissatisfied with the new version of Morpheus. My advise to all users interested in downloading files is to not to use Morpheus.

Morpheus made a big mistake
Mar 28, 2002 10:15 AM

Where do I begin? I'm a college student who first was introduced to the world of broadband with the evolution of Napster. Since that was the best thing to come since cold beer, what could beat it? The answer was simply MORPHEUS! Boy, my college buddies and I had a field day with it. Now, what does Morpheus decide to do, right at the peak of it's success, with the most members out of any P2P service out there? Go and ruin everything!

The new service was installed around noon and uninstalled around 1 PM. I hated everything about it. You can no longer search for songs while filtering out low quality files, and the overall interface is much more difficult than the original.

If I had to rate their new product, I'd give it two middle fingers up. I have switched to Kazaa (something I vowed never to do) where I am happily finding and downloading exactly what I want, every day!

My Advice: Go with Kazaa, and be sure to tell Morpheus that my log in can be used by another user because I'll never use their service again.

To Morpheus, my P2P Friend...
Mar 28, 2002 09:40 AM

My downloader! In thy days of glory past

A beauteous halo circled round thy brow

and worshipped as a deity thou wast—

Where is thy glory, where the reverence now?

Thy eagle pinion is chained down at last,

And grovelling in the lowly dust art thou,

Thy minstrel hath no wreath to weave for thee

Save the sad story of thy misery!

Well—let me dive into the depths of time

And bring from out the ages, that have rolled

A few small fragments of these wrecks sublime

Which human eye may never more behold

And let the guerdon of my labour be,

My fallen Morpheus! One kind wish for thee!

[This is Henry Louis Vivien Derozio's poem--I have modified just two words in it; Originally titled 'To India My Nativeland', this poem is one of my favourites, and speaks so aptly about the depths at which India is at now. And somehow these words echo what I feel about Morpheus! And hence the adaptation! Please note, no offence meant to the poet or to the original poem.]

As many have said, in the good old days, it was Napster that ruled supreme. I couldn't wait to get to office to start off Napster and begin my downloading of mp3s. It used to be fun...while it lasted. Then, I moved on to another software called iMesh, that allowed you to download mp3s, movies, documents, software etc...and also supported 'resume'. Well, that has nothing to do with your Curriculum Vitae...but here, I am referring to....ah well...let me tell you in layman's terms how this damn thing works...

Once you have installed any of this software, you are part of the community. This means that you share some of your files (you decide which!) with the rest of the people in the community (others who have installed this software!). Now, when you search for a song/movie/document/software etc, using the software, you get a list of all the members in the community that have that particular file shared. When you double click on one of these, the downloading starts. This means that your system contacts the other member's system and starts downloading that file. Now, there is every likelihood that the other person could shut down his system, or close that software. Then..??? Well...in Napster it meant that you ended up with a half downloaded file that was worthy only to be buried in the Recycle Bin!! However, with iMesh and Morpheus, this feature called 'Resume', automatically searches for another user who has the same file, and continues downloading from the other person...and you are not even aware of it. At the end of it, you get your completely downloaded file. While using Napster, I used to make it a point to send a message to the one I am downloading from (yes, this is another feature that these software have...of being able to chat with one of these guys in the community!), to tell the guy not to shutdown as I am downloading from him/her. Now, with Morpheus/iMesh, I do not need to request/warn the guy. Moreover, in Morpheus, I have never been able to get the chat working!!!

Ah....so as I was saying, I started using iMesh, but then I realised that after a while, when I changed office, this software refused to work behind a firewall (something that these fellows in huge offices set up to ensure that their network is safe from hackers etc!). Then someone told me about Morpheus. I downloaded it and installed it. It worked like a charm. I really did fall in love with it. I downloaded several mp3s, videos, software...that was till Morpheus Preview Edition. Since then, nothing has worked!! Have downloaded nothing using this new version...as it does not work at all!! And hence the poem at the beginning!!! Just hope Morpheus rises from the ashes soon enough...before I find yet another p2p file sharing software!!

Morpheus - Preview Edition or Memorial edition?
Mar 28, 2002 03:25 AM

File sharing first came into existence over IRC networks, unmanned broadband servers used IRC scripts (bots) within online chat rooms to allow users to download what they wanted from host machines. Of course, only those users comfortable with IRC and those who didnt mind the unattractive, tedious and unfriendly interfaces of most IRC clients were exposed to the early days of File Sharing. Soon, dedicated servers were established by companies to make life easier for newbies, windows users and the not-so-computer-savvy. Of course, in those days not many people had broadband connections anywhere. In the mid 90s at the dawn of the MP3 craze, sharing of music files became everyone's favourite thing to do. Then came.... Napster.

Napster, wasnt the only but WAS the most popular music sharing network that caught on tremendously. With internet connections getting faster and more and more people getting addicted, the music industry was in for trouble. So artists began to object... WHY ? I still don't know. Its pure greed from my perspective. They make millions and they're worried about not making enough money. Their endorsements and live performances itself could make them enough to last generations. But anyway, the uproar began. So Napster shut down, sadly for some, those of us who continued to use older (and BETTER) file sharing clients weren't really affected. And so began the Morpheus craze.

Morpheus by Musiccity and the Streamcast network wasnt just music sharing. Unlike Napster Morpheus is a file sharing client. This was Piracy at its best. Software, Full Motion Video, Movies, Music, Pictures.. you name it... EVERY possible form of media and application was available because of the sheer magnitude of its users. Morpheus seemed to reign supreme till all of a sudden... crash... the servers started misbehaving, and that was the end of it. The servers were down for a good ten to twelve days after which they released the Morpheus ''Preview Edition'', a preview of its newer version which for some reason is much slower, less reliable, crashes often and has new features which mostly don't work.

Like Freddie used to say... ''Another one bites the dust''. Those of us ''leeches'' who rely on getting free stuff on the internet are now searching for alternative ways to survive.. we are an adaptive race after all... we've managed to survive a couple of these.. heheh. Perhaps the new version will set things right and help Morpheus reclaim its now forgotten glory... or maybe... this is the End.

''Throughout human history, we have been dependent on machines to survive. Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony.''

-Laurence Fishburne as 'Morpheus' in 'The Matrix'

A well achieved substitute to napster
Feb 20, 2002 01:35 AM

Well the name said it all. I was a happy chappy using napster, when out of the blue it suddenly took all of the songs away forcing skinflints like me to buy their music.

Well I wasn’t up to this so I went about finding an alternative. And I feel that I have a clear winner: Morpheus.

I was told about it my mates and I went to the site and down loaded it (the site is https://musiccity.com). It took the average time, about 10 min. When it was complete you have a short cut on your desktop. I double clicked on it and a box in the left hand corner came up and a bar was flashing vigorously from left to right. After about 5 seconds it went. The cursor changed into a timer for about 20 seconds then it went back to normal, as did the computer.

By this time I was really miffed off by this entire occurrence, due to I had delegated nappy!! So I went to it again and it done the same again.

I left it a few days and an ''M'' with green; blue and red came at the bottom left hand side of my desktop.

I have been a user of morpheus now for about two months now and it is the best downloaded application I have downloaded as yet. if I find a better one I will informe you. Every thing I have searched for I have succesfully got.

I logged onto the Internet and opened it up. I registered and I was off. At the top of the Morpheus window there are several options:

START: this is the home page to https://musiccity.com there you can access a lot of other things.

MY MEDIA: when you have downloaded things such as: audio, images, videos, software and documents. When you have completed the download it appears under what you searched for it. At the top it tells you how many in total you have downloaded.

THEATER: when you download a video or software you can go on it from here.

SEARCH: the main part of the application. You can search for a number of things ranging from Koalas to KoRn. If you do not know what it falls under then you can search for it under all of it, but if you need a more specific search then you can search for the specific ones. You key in the appropriate things and all of the products are produced in a window on the right. When you place the cursor over the product it gives off information.

TRAFFIC: when you are pleased with the find and you have double clicked on it to download it, it appears here. This also displays a range of information about the product that you are downloading. On the left it gives off the name of the product and what the percentage of the download is complete.

All in all I feel that Morpheus is the top downloading application

MusicCity Morpheus is a very simple program to use.

MusicCity Morpheus allows you to share any type of file, audio, video, picture.

When you search for a file, Morpheus gives the results from all the different users that have the file you requested.

It is easy to use, easy to find the file you’re looking for and isn’t limited to just MP3s. You can download video, images, documents and software and they are extremely simple to find.

Morpheus offers a number of features such as playlist creation to easily organize the file collection.

The download speed is excellent.

File transfers are fast, mainly because the program downloads files in pieces from many sources. As soon as a download is lost, the programs finds other sources for downloads. It resumes downloading file as soon as you are logged in MusicCity Morphues.

MusicCity Morpheus is freeware.

It is one of the best file sharing network.

Leave Your Conscience at the Door
Nov 29, 2001 05:44 PM

Once upon a time, in a distant part of Cyberspace something amazing was created. From this point onwards, the Internet would never be the same. However after going through puberty and reaching it's peak of development it was cruelly hunted down by the authorities and stripped of all that it was, only leaving a bare carcass. It was Napster.

But hey, don’t worry, it's not all doom and gloom, there's a happy ending to this story. I think that Napster had a cheeky little bit of action along the way, because there is a new kid on the block now, and he's just hitting his prime. Yup, I'm talking about Morpheus…oh and what a big boy he is too!

When Napster was killed by all the filters that were placed on it by the American courts I thought that was it, that was the end of getting all those songs that you hear one night when you are out and just know that you have to have them. I never went in to whole scale downloading of albums left right and centre from Napster, rather songs that would be hard to come by in a shop. Come on, who really wants to spend £14 on a CD for just one song? Well, I didn't. Naturally there were times when I may have gone a little over the top with the amount I downloaded, going past my own ethos of not taking too much.

But now, well I just don’t care anymore. Anything I can get my hands on I'll have it. And this is exactly where Morpheus jumps in. Napster did well but it wasn't perfect at all. But then first time ventures usually aren't. Morpheus has taken the lessons learned by Napster and evolved and grown.

~~So what is Morpheus?~~

Well, in its basic form it is just an FTP, or File Transfer Programme of which there are thousands across the net. However it's big, really big. At the time I started writing this op, a glum Saturday afternoon, there are more than just a couple of people logged on, 618, 571 to be precise sharing a whopping 462,808 gigabytes of material!! I'm sorry, but that is massive and seriously impressive by anyone's standards. Essentially Morpheus links in to the Gnutella network which many similar programmes do also. This allows the consolidation of massive quantities of material from many different sources. All those people using differing programmes all come together in one network. All really very nice.

~~Is Morpheus just another MP3 grabber then?~~

Well this is where Morpheus picks up the baton and carries on from where good old Naspter left off. We all love free music, well you can get that on this network. However, what about free programmes and games. The latest virus protection software? Half Life or one of its add ons? Well they are just two of the programmes I know you can get. You always could somewhere on the net, it's just easier and under one virtual roof now. Not only that, pictures and videos can be obtain from others over Morpheus. Most of, if not all the latest videos are able to be downloaded on to your PC. Naturally, these, like the games and programmes aren't going to be small, taking many many hours to download. But just leave it going overnight, no worries. That brings me on to one of the most important points.

~~How is Mopheus so different?~~

For those of you on a modem connection, how many times have you come off line, only to realise that you were in the middle of a download? Well for me it was an infuriatingly regular occurrence, got a dreadful memory you see. Well fret not, it's ok now. Morpheus has full capability to resume any download that you start. If you are online and suddenly need to use the phone line, just right click and select to pause the download. All very handy. Not only that, the programme sees what you are downloading at can get it from many sources at once, downloading parts from those with the same file, so speeding up the download. Well that's what's claimed at least! Personally I find that it can slow things up. But still, good idea!

Have you got little kids that might be using the computer? Well if so, then there are filters that can be adapted so that nothing 'naughty' comes up after you type in your key words to search. Because however many time you search for hardcore music you know exactly what you are going to get back.

Not only that, you have a choice as to what sort of criteria your search should be delineated by, such as: Audio, Image, Video, Software or Documents, or all of the previous. Certainly more than Napster gave us.

~~Neal, c'mon, you've sold me, where do it get Morpheus from?~~

Well, not going to tell you! Only joking. If you skip along merrily to https:// mussiccity.com you can grab the download from there, like 25 million others have done, or so the site tells me!

If you liked Napster, you'll love Morpheus, there's no doubt about that. All that you need to do is leave your conscience at the door, because downloading can and does break copyrights, and hence the fail of Napster. However, this little beaut has no central server as Napster did, rather being peer to peer hosting, and so, with fingers tightly crossed, it wont get closed down. So go on, give it a go. I know you want to.

Morpheus is a software which is same as the earlier Kazaa. Infact the software and the tracking software is the same. Kazaa did have problems so I giess they upgraded to morpheus. In any PC you can not keep kazaa and morpheus open at the same time. That is a bug. Like kazaa, morpheus is used mainly to download mp3 format songs. you have to install and register the software online and NOT offline. It also provides softwares, documents and video files to download. Unlike Napster, Morpheus allows partial downloading which means that you can downlaod a part if that song and can downlaod the remaining part later. However beware that some files start up all over again. But thats like 1 in 10 chance. Def worth it. It gets a 4 star rating only due to that.
