The .NET Framework is an integral Windows component that supports building and running the next generation of applications and XML Web services. We have been using Microsoft(r) Visual studio 2005 for a year now. Microsoft(r) is coming out with its newest version of the dotnet framework 3.x.

Some patches are available at the Microsoft(r) website where in you can continue to use Microsoft(r) VS. Net 2005 for developing applications for the 3.x framework.

The features of the 3.x framework include:

1) Support for vista development namely Windows Presentation Foundation(WPF), Windows Communication Foundation(WCF)

2) XAML based coding(similar to XML, and can be used to define control colors, size, position, etc)

3) According to reports that I have read we would be able to provide these features in applications running on Windows XP Sp2 and higher!

Overall the advantages for developers are lesser time needed to implement the basic functionality. We can deliver better looking GUI faster.

Microsoft has released their newer version of Visual Studio .NET 2005. Its been around 3 months since it has surfed the Indian Market. Users who have already had a glimpse of its BETA version has started buying or downloading the software. Many people might have wondered about the much-ado on the release and its features. But, there are still a 95% of the users of earlier versions of .NET has to upgrade themselves to the latest one.

Looking at the features of Visual Studio .NET 2005, one can definitely go for it for their life-time software development work. It is really cool to see certain changes in the ado.net data providers, generics and anonymous methods in C# language and much more better enhancements made in the ASP.NET 2.0. Windows Compact Frameowrk, Windows Mobile ToolKit, .NET Compact Framework based on Smart Client Architecture are supported entirely in VS.Net 2005.

Besides this, VS.NET Express editions are also available individually for C#, VB.Net, ASP.NET applications.

Hi, VS.NET by MicroSoft is an important tool to design applications. it is new, fast, stable and hot product in the IT market. it is the only application in the market that can build a web service application from scratch to final release. thou web service is a new concept, in a few year from now, web service will be an important part of doing business. a new network creation ( like the internet) is in the process of formation. webservice can be done on Sun One software too but it is not user freindly as VS.NET. it is difficult to say which will win the web service race. on one side is MicroSoft and on the other side is SUN, IBM and Oracle.

Back to VS.NET

to write applications on the web, u can write application using the language u are comfarable with. for example u can write web-based application in C++, pascal, COBOL, VB, even JAVA, the VS.NET framework supports in converting these codes at run-time into a Machinee readable form. it also provides a new language called C# ( C Sharp) which is basically used for writing web service. C# is almost java.

very good language for writting application.

as VS.NET is a MicroSoft product , it supports all the function of a typical MicroSoft product for ex F5 for run, Control -S for save etc. for a MicroSoft user, the learning curve for using VS.NET is very fast.

ok.. I am writing the review on the one of the best and most awaited product from Microsoft named Microsoft Visual Studio .NET

I will tell you something about What is Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and why it is the most awaited product from Microsoft.

NOTE: I have written some little things about Visual Studio .NET in my earlier review of Visual Studio 6.0 and if you want to know what is Visual Studio please read my review on Visual Studio

Microsoft Visual Studio .NET is also known as Microsoft Visual Studio 7.0

Why Awaited: After the releasing of Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 (you can find my review on this product also.) in 1998, Microsoft started development on the next version of Microsoft Visual Studio i.e. 7.0 (.NET was not given at that time). In the development of 7.0 version on Visual Studio, later on as development was goin on.. Microsoft decided to make it in such a way that it helps the

programmers or software developers to work in same IDE.. no need to change each and everytime the software just one click and user can switch to other language, so Microsoft came up with Microsoft .NET Framework and then Microsoft decided to add some services like XML, Web Services and lots other things.. and also new language C#. Microsoft introduced .NET in 2000 to the press and told that Microsoft is going to Microsoft .NET in early 2002 and also Visual Studio .NET (now .NET is included...).

Product Information: Microsoft Visual Studio .NET comes in total three edition.

1) Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Professional

2) Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Enterprise Developer

3) Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Enterprise Architect

Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Professional: It comes with the 5 CDs. 4CDs are for the Visual Studio .NET and last 5th CD is for the Windows Components Update. Which updates the computer.

Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Enterprise Developer: It comes with the 6 CDs. same as Professional but 6th CD contains Microsoft Visual Source Safe 6.0c

Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Enterprise Architecture: It comes with the 7 cDs. same as previous but 7th CD is having Microsoft Visio 2002.

PRICE:

As all Microsoft product, this product is also very costly.

VS .NET Professional - 1,079$ - 53,950 rs.

VS .NET Enterprise Developer - 1,799$ - 89,950 rs.

VS .NET Enterprise Architect - 2,499$ - 1,24,950 rs.

Isnt it very costly?

VS.NET is build with the one of the best and very latest technology from Microsoft called .NET or .NET Framework, which enables users to develop web services very fast.. and it helps reducing the codes, the major thing in VS.NET is about that, that its having XML support and XML is very best language for the Web Services and feature web

develpoment.

My Conclusion: This is one of the best product from the Microsoft, but its very costly.. but to get the best product.. u have to pay. The main thing about .NET I liked is.. integrated IDE.. which means now programmers dont need to change the application when they want to write in diffrent language.. just they need to switch to language.. no need of closing and opening diffrent application,

Microsoft tried this before in version 6.0 with the J++ and InterDev but Microsoft failed.. I mean.. its not that much nice.. but in .NET its very perfect.

One thing which I liked about this is now its coming with MSDN - HELP FILE LIBRARY.

Installation: Installation takes a lots of time..

Enterprice Architect takes nearly 1hr. with 128 MB RAM.. I am having p4 - 1.5GHZ and 128MB RAM , Windows XP and it has taken 1hr with full. Its installation is also very nice.. very customizable.. takes about 2.8 GB

dont no abt Developer and Professional Edition.
