Microsoft Visual Studio - Best SDK
Apr 19, 2018 06:28 PM 778 Views

I am working as software developer and I am using this software for more than 8 years. As you know it is a product of Microsoft, You don't have to bother about help functionality. By clicking on help functionality it'll redirect you to it's web site, where you'll find all the help topics.

Very user friendly for developers and installation is very simple as well. You can download many versions of Visual studio.

Lot's of features for ease of work of developers. There are many templates are given for developing various desktop as well as web applications. Latest SDK's are really advance in which you can develop mobile application as well.

Online blogs and forums are available on internet to provide service and support for your query. Happy developing!

Incompatability of the old version project to run.
Jul 01, 2016 08:20 AM 2157 Views (via Android App)

I am comfortable using visual studio in 2005 version because I still use windows xp but whatever projects made on 2005 version they are not compatible with the 2012 version where I do projects in office. Once a old version is tried to run on a new version, the new version just makes a back up of the old one and donot even show the code to execute and when you work in a new version visual studios.

When you use those files in old version, it will show unknown version and would not start up. This made me face alot of problems. Microsoft should build as all the old versions should be compatible in the new versions.

Project Version issues.
Mar 14, 2016 03:28 PM 3280 Views

Microsoft Visual Studio from 2005 to 2012 helped me a lot for creating all types of project but now when i'm developing application using newer version of Visual Studio Like 2012 there is only backup left for older version. Unable to run project back in older versions of visual studio. When an old software was made in an older version of visual studio people are used to that version when making/updating changes to that old software in a new version of IDE there is no way back. In other IDEs projects used to run in an older version & fixes issues itself for that time.

But in visualstudio it's possible by arranging all files once again which is a tedious task. So some solution must be there to create & run projects in both versions of software.

Visual Studio is a very good development platform.
Oct 20, 2015 12:08 PM 3162 Views

Visual Studio is a Microsoft's development IDE (Integrated Development Environment).

Now in this days all software companies using this tool for making their websites and giving to there customer, In previous days we uses visual studio 2005 but day by day they implementing thier IDE versions so that result visual studio 2008, 10, 12 are also available for making software in a higher version IDE.

Java is also well known high level programing platforms but they are fully independent and typical to programing, but if we move on to visual studio they are microsoft supportive programing platforms as well as object oriented also .So Microsoft visual studio is a good option for developing softwares and websites.

It is best software for development the website by using c# language. In this software we can use various language i.e. c, c+, java, c# and so on.

By using this software we can develop the mobile application, we can develop the computer application also we can develop the static and dynamic websites.

I am using the .NET framework and using the C# language in this software. And build the own websites. It hast the 2.27GB size and when we install it on the computer system then is size becomes up

to 7GB on the hard disk. It required the 2gb RAM. Finally I would like to say that it is great software for developing the website. I recommended to download this software to all my friends.

Where are my prizes?
May 05, 2015 04:58 PM 3275 Views

Team Microsoft Visual Studio India, this is to complain that I have not yet received my prizes- Flipkart/Amazon voucher worth Rs.15, 000- which I won by participating in your Visual Studio quiz held in October-November 2012, despite countless reminders, on https://meetmyapp.com. If you have no intentions to distribute those valuable prizes to insignificant people like us, then why do you start these promotions/contests in the first place?

This is highly unprofessional, careless, arrogant, high-handed and irresponsible attitude of your staff which has trivialized such a small matter. I hope you will take note of my complaint this time around and do the needful immediately. For this I will be grateful to you. Waiting for your quick and positive response.

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005
Apr 13, 2006 07:43 PM 2725 Views

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 aims to let developers of all levels get the most out of the .NET platform. This robust development environment offers a host of options for creating standalone, mobile, and Web-based applications whether you write for a few users or a few thousand.

Visual Studio is known for combining a handful of tools and languages, including Visual Basic, Visual C#, Visual C++, and even Visual J#. I did a complete install, which took about 40 minutes (with several automatic reboots along the way) and consumed over 2GB of disk space. Your mileage may vary, depending on what options and languages you choose.

The integrated development environment (IDE) looks much like its old self but has several significant productivity enhancements. The default start-up screen, a sort of mini-portal, lets you see recent projects and online content. As I soon discovered, the ability to create standalone Windows projects using Windows Forms is a major focus of the new release. With help from several dozen powerful .NET Framework 2.0 components, designing a front-end for an order-tracking database proved quick work in both Visual Basic and C#.

Easy-to-use components make connecting to data sources (whether database or remote components) simple. New wizards, many of which are accessible through smart tags, let me quickly create forms with slick navigation controls. There's also a powerful grid control for displaying multiple records. Other new .NET controls let you tap advanced OS features like Windows services, background threads, and even message queuing—without requiring a black belt in programming.

The visual designer for Windows Forms is particularly powerful. As I dragged controls on forms, guidelines popped up on the fly, making precise alignment of controls to other components a cinch, even down to single pixels. Other new wizards add a complete Windows menu and standard toolbars automatically.

The new Visual Studio's enhanced support for writing code beyond components is a major advance. For Visual Basic, the tool suggests ways to correct several hundred syntax errors and warnings. For all languages, there's an extensive library of reusable code snippets ranging from beginning programming constructs (like For loops) to sophisticated idioms that can even assist experts (for example, in working with XML). The feature can definitely speed development—especially for new users—since you can drag snippets right into the code window. You can also define and reuse your own snippets.

New refactoring support (for changing names and moving code around class libraries) is a boon for users who are more advanced, and brings Visual Studio up to speed with its Java competitors, which have long supported the capability. I did encounter one small problem upgrading legacy projects from Visual Studio 2003. An upgrade wizard correctly brought individual source files into the new version, but I had to tweak code and project settings occasionally to work with new .NET Framework 2.0 conventions.

For at least a decade, distributing standalone Visual Basic programs has been a major problem. Visual Studio attempts to solve this once and for all with its new OneClick deployment, which automates the publishing of applications (in any .NET language), letting users install the software, thus minimizing the impact of software rollouts on IT.

In theory, users can point to a URL, and the installer, which supports code-signing for improved security, will check automatically for the prerequisites (like the .NET Framework itself). The process worked fine in my limited testing. But making sure security and policy settings work in the field is tricky due to the proliferation of custom software and versions of .NET components.

I also built a simple mobile application using the same IDE and tools. Visual Studio emulates the look and feel of today's Pocket PC and Smartphone devices and includes real-time debugging. A separate add-on, Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Office, even lets developers target custom-built Microsoft Office add-ins and companion programs from within the IDE. There's no specific support for Windows Vista here, though all applications built with this tool will work with the upcoming OS.

For Web development, Visual Studio's Visual Web Designer isn't nearly as visual a tool as its Windows Forms counterpart. For one, you won't find the slick new alignment guides that are in Windows Forms. While you can import and use existing cascading stylesheets, creating new ones is difficult because you must do so one definition at a time. Real-world Web development teams will often divide work between the visual design and the script coding behind it. Visual Studio doesn't yet have the separation of layers and visual smarts that would make a tool like Macromedia Dreamweaver obsolete.

That said, the new Web tools let you define and reuse master pages, and those can contain other content—a boon for real-world development. I used the feature to define and reuse menus, navigation, and standard headers and footers for multiple pages in a Web-based order-tracking app. Moreover, the library of ASP.NET Web controls is excellent. Wizards for creating a database form and grid work just fine. Built-in support for displaying multiple pages of records, sorting columns, and even selecting records is well implemented, though control over visual styles can be tricky.

In a major improvement for Web development, Microsoft added several new login-management controls that have new components for login screens, retrieving forgotten passwords, and even basic status (showing a user's login name in your pages, for example). The new Visual Studio not only simplifies security, it also includes powerful ASP.NET 2.0 configuration tools for defining groups and logins, assigning permissions, and configuring Web applications. By default, this user management runs against an SQL Server Express database. The ability to manage users in even the simplest Web application is a big plus. Of course, you can deploy Web applications easily to existing servers from within the IDE, as with previous versions.

While Java developers have several strong tools and different approaches to Java and JSP development to choose from, Windows developers must still largely rely on Microsoft's offerings. Fortunately Visual Studio continues to impress with a well-rounded portfolio of tools for the Windows .NET platform. This release can boost the productivity of anyone who writes .NET code on a regular basis.

All in one...

This is my luck.. because no one has written review on this product..

Ok, Here comes my review on Microsoft Visual Studio.

I came across Microsoft Visual Studio in 1997 with it's version of 97 And then I came across with the new version 98 in 1998 and then after 4 yrs... Microsoft come with the the Microsoft Visual Studio.net in 13th Feb. 2002. (I do not have this yet.)

What is Visual Studio? : Microsoft Visual Studio is not a tool to develope a software. It's only a form of a two or more software developing tools which are developed by Microsoft. like Microsoft Office, Microsoft Office is bundled with the softwares like a Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel etc...

Microsoft Visual Studio 97: In this version of Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft has bundled three software development tools.

1) Microsoft Visual C++ 97 or 5.0

2) Microsoft Visual Basic 97 or 5.0

3) Microsoft Visual Foxpro 97 or 5.0

This bundle includes the Help Files.

Microsoft Visual Studio 98: In this version of Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft has added two more development tools.

1) Microsoft Visual C++ 98 or 6.0

2) Microsoft Visual Basic 98 or 6.0

3) Microsoft Visual Foxpro 98 or 6.0

4) Microsoft Visual InterDev 98 or 6.0

5) Microsoft Visual J++ 98 or 6.0

This bundle does not includes the Help Files.

Cost is around 495$. 24,750 Rs./-

Microsoft Visual Studio.net: This is the latest technology from the Microsoft and it is just released on 13th Feb. 2002. SO I do not have much info on that, But it is including two more developement tools. And this version also contains great tool for the Web Services Development.

1) Microsoft Visual C++.net or 7.0

2) Microsoft Visual Basic.net or 7.0

3) Microsoft Visual Foxpro.net or 7.0

4) Microsoft Visual InterDev.net or 7.0

5) Microsoft Visual J++.net or 7.0

6) Microsoft Visual C#.net or 7.0

7) Microsoft Visual Source Safe.net or 7.0

This bundle comes with the three editions...

1) Enterprise Architect Edition

2) Enterprise Developer Edition

3) Professional Edition

Both edition does not includes Help Files.

Enterprise Architect Edition costs around 2,499$. 1,24,950 Rs./-

Enterprise Developer Edition costs around 1,799$. 89,950 Rs./-

Professional Edition costs around 1,079$. 53,950 Rs./-

Now here comes some part

INSTALLATION: Installation of Microsoft Visual Studio is little bit difficult, but it has well instructed. You can customize everything... Which tool you want or you don't want or you want to remove it... Installation is taking some time.. minimum time is taken by this software is 15 mins. with all the tools.

UPDATED 12th April 2002.

Now here we will talk about the each and every product of the Microsoft

Visual Studio.

1) Microsoft Visual C++ : This developing tool is for those people who wants to develope an application in C or C++. The person who is developing application in C or C++ knows that to get the Windows Environment with the C or C++ language it's very difficult job. But in Microsoft Visual C++ it's not difficult.. It's very easy and very fast.

2) Microsoft Visual Basic : This developing tool is for those developers who wants to develope an application for Windows Operating System. VB is also known as RAD (Rapid Application Development). Visual Basic is really very fast and very easy in developing application. If you want to know more of Microsoft Visual Basic please read my review on Microsoft Visual Basic with the title of It's My Virtual Basic.

3) Microsoft Visual Foxpro : In the past, FOxpro was used for the back end system i.e. for Database purpose or say for Storing Data in to the file. But after it's version 1.4 Microsoft has promote Foxpro to that much hight level that now developers can Develope application in Foxpro, Foxpro was only for the dos till it's version 2.5 But after 2.5 Microsoft made Foxpro as Windows Compatitable, And today it's a very important part of the Microsoft Visual Studio.

4) Microsoft Visual InterDev : This developing tool is for those developers who wants to do Web Designing or Web Programming. This tool is not best for the Web Designing but it is best for the Web Programming. I am using total 3 Web Editor Programs but for programming I prefer this as my Web Programming tool.

5) Microsoft Visual J++ : After the arriving of Sunmicrosystem Java, Microsoft has developed clone of it and it is known as Microsoft Visual J++. But it is only used in Web Programming. So Microsoft Didn't won in this tool.

6) Microsoft Visual C# : It's a very latest technology by Microsoft. Microsoft has developed a clone of the Java language. Microsoft has changed only little bit syntax and Microsoft has made this as a VB. Just like a VB, drag and drop tool... And it's far better than the Java, Because it's very fast and easy develope application in Windows and Web Environment.

7) Microsoft Visual Source Safe : It's not a latest technology of the Microsoft. Microsoft has developed this tool in 1998. And it was bundled with Microsoft Visual Studio 98 but not as individual Developing tool but as a Add-In Tool. But After knowing the ability and usage of this toll Microsoft has decided to give this tool a seprate place in Microsoft Visual Studio. It's use is to keep your source code safe and also to share your source code with the other people.

That's all of the review....

I will update this review If I get any edition information...

Please rate my review...

Thank you,
