3D Benchmarking at its best
Jan 28, 2002 10:19 AM 13964 Views

Review 3D Mark 2000 Madonion’s 3D mark has become something of an industry standard for 3d benchmarking. The software is relatively easy to use and just about anyone can run a benchmark. 3DMark focuses on testing the 3D performance of modern 3D accelerators in a ''real world'' environment. It uses Remedy Entertainment's proprietary 3D game technology, MAX-FX Technology(tm). Running a default benchmark runs all available 3d modules. All you have to do is sit back and watch. The modules test all aspect of the 3d card such as fill rate, bump mapping, texture rendering speed, polygon count and even environment bump mapping(if supported by hardware).

The program also runs game simulations to test frame rate and overall performance. You can customize your test by selecting the modules you want to run and the display settings to run it under. You can even save your customization as a project to be run later. There is a result browser, which connects you to madonion.com where you can compare your results to other cardshelping you to make purchase decisions. 3D mark 2000 supports Direct X 7.0 and has been optimized for Intel and AMD processors. Batch run is also supported. Help provided is very extensive and explains all the tests to great details. Don’t forget to watch the demo mode presentation. It shows some of the most truly astounding 3D animations ever created. (TIP: The system info button is a good place to find out the features supported by your card) 3D Mark 2001 is now available
