Another One Bites The Dust

I’d only just downloaded InoculateIT a week or so ago and haven’t been able to install it as it wouldn’t install because it detected Norton Anti Virus on my system even though I disabled it so that Norton wouldn’t run. Since then I have been trying to get rid of Norton but it just refuses to budge. From what I can gather InoculateIT did what it was supposed to and did it well, but now it is all academic as InoculateIT is no more. R.I.P.!!!

This is what it states on their web site:

“On Thursday June 7, 2001, Computer Associates (CA) ended the InoculateIT Personal Edition, eTrust Mail Watcher, and eTrust Content Inspection Personal Edition promotional programs. These promotional programs have been replaced with eTrust EZ Armor - the first solution set available from my-eTrust.com.

my-eTrust.com is a new web-born store front, designed specifically to make it easy to get the software and support needed to protect small business and home-based personal computers.

Although the InoculateIT Personal Edition program has ended, CA will continue to provide antivirus signature updates to registered users, for as long as InoculateIT Personal Edition is installed on their current personal computer.”

Update ......

My apologies to you all. When I wrote this review originally the software was free. Now the makers have changed things round & you have to buy their software. If you have inoculate it installed, the updates are still free & will continue to be for the foreseeable future.

For those of you in the UK you can download Grisoft's AVG anti-virus program, which is free & very good. It also has auto updates & the likes & is pretty similar to what IIT was. https://grisoft.com

For those of you outside the UK you are not going to have to fork out for an anti virus program as there are still plenty of free ones on the go. Try the likes of HandyBits VirusScan, Dr. Web, VCatcher Virus Catcher, Volto Interceptor, Antidote Lite, NetShield Hotfix, & more at the likes of ZDNet, https://zdnet.com/downloads/utilities.html

Thanks for your time & I hope that this helps you out. .. Tom

Everyone who uses the Internet needs an Anti-Virus Scanning program of one kind or another. Without one you face the pitfalls and perils of the VIRUS and it can be very annoying when you get one. The big question that we all face about anti-virus programs is ‘Which one do I choose?’ You can pay quite a bit for an anti-virus program like Norton or McAfee, but are they really any better than a free one? In my personal opinion and experience the answer’s a rather simple no in the majority of cases. There are no real great differences between them and they certainly don’t justify the hefty price tags.

I have used Norton and McAfee anti-virus programs over the last 4 years and have left them behind totally. I found a free program that is updated several times a week to account for all the new viruses that are being produced and the engine that runs the program is updated regularly too.

What’s this program called? It’s called Inoculate It Personal Edition and is free for homeusers. They update the software several times a week or more and update the engine regularly, which keeps it up with the big boys. This is a program that does a great job, doesn’t take up much room on your hard drive and is very easy to configure and use.

Why don’t I use Norton or McAfee anymore? That’s a very good question and I have a very good answer to match! The simple reason is that both Norton and McAfee produce good software, but they don’t support it for long. If you are lucky most of their programs last a year or so before the are dumped for a newer version and you then have to buy this new version as the old one is no longer any use. The problem is that you are always having to pay for the newest software or you are out in the cold. That’s why I use the likes of Inoculate It.

Where can you get Inoculate It from? Another easy question. You just download the program from:

http://www.cai.com/antivirus/personal this is the makers website where you can download the newest version.

https://zdnet.com

https://cnet.com

and most of the other download sites on the Internet. It’s only a small download and is very quick and easy to install.

To get the updates and use the auto download feature you will need to register your copy of Inoculate It. But it’s only a small process that takes a few minutes and you will then be given a customer ID that entitles you to use any new version of the program. You only have to register once as long as you remember to write your customer ID down somewhere safe.

Inoculate It can be used to scan your drives on boot up, can scan e-mail attachments and downloads and is very easy to use when you need a boot disk. Basically it has all the features of most premium anti-virus programs and some other useful features besides.

I haven’t used any other software of this kind since I discovered Inoculate It and I would advise anyone else who is fed up paying for their anti-virus software each year to download this program and give it a try! I don’t think you’ll be buying your software ever again!

Regards…..Paddy (Tom)
