Well, some good things can be free too..and one of them is http://www.HOTPOP.com which provides you with a free email id with a choice..

I came across it quite by chance and used it for a good five years.. and never found it unwanting.

Hotpop gives you an option to access you mail either by forwarding it to a different mail id or by using your favorite mail client..unfortunately you cannot check your mail from the browser per se but sites like https://mail2web.com solve that problem of yours in a jiffy.

Should you have unwanted mail you can get rid of them without having to download it on your computer.

I believe the latest is that the web access feature is being added to it so, ya ya to that .. the servers are fast so the mail downloads fast enough. The site gives comprehensive instructions to configure your mail client so even those, technologically challenged, it takes less than a minute.

All in all, for some one looking for a mail id with free pop3 mail id it has to be the hassel free hotpop way.

Guess why I even bothered to use a POP Account. I'm not used to checking my mails online unless forced to. I use a Laptop and most of the time use Outlook Express to check my Hotmail id and use it offline too.

Writing long mails while travelling is my best pass time when there's no interesting co-passenger :-)

Anyway, recently, using Hotmail with OE was getting more pain than ever before and I was on hunt for something that I could use for Bulk Mailing purpose and now that I sport a Broadband Cable Modem connection I could use POP too (which is normally blocked in Most office Network, if not, it should be ;-)

Another reason (which was strong enough) was to use this new cool tool called 'Incredimail'. Ever since watching those nice mail client in movie 'Mission Impossible', always wanted to have somthing like that on my own machine.

Now that I write 10000 times more e-mails than snail mails, it really needed to get better and make it little interesting. Now to use that account I needed a POP service. I can make Hotmail / Yahoo work with pop using some third party tool, but that was not too cool as having a POP Account.

Anyway, my search for a POP Account gave few options and I opted for HotPOP. I was actually quite impressed with their paid services also. Right now I've signed up for the Free one, in future if they are still in business (they should) then I'm seriously considering them as well Yahoo as a paid service. Yahoo's spam blocking is awesome. It's near perfect.

As a closure, I guess I've spoken more about everything else than ''HotPOP'' itself, but I can definitely recommend this one as a must have for anyone who wants to have a POP account for the heck of it.

Currently we have millions of website on the internet that provides free e-mail facility. But there are hardly any good site which provide with your own Pop or SMTP servers. Though you can have it if you have a personal VSNL account or for that matter any other ISP account. But, what happens to people like us who uses a MTNL account or people who uses somebody else's User Name – Password for using free mail. Now we don't have any POP or SMTP servers to rely on. Pop accounts are easy to work with and provide the feature of safe keeping the E-mails at your Home, for later viewing.

Though we can download our mail from Hotmail's Server too, but that is only possible if you using Outlook Express, now for people like me who hate Outlook Express for its slowness, there seems like no alternative. But, HotPop has given me an alternative.

HotPop is a free E-mail server, that also provides us with free Pop and SMTP server. Its better than Outlook Express as you can use it with many other E-Mail Client like Eudora(which I Personally Consider as the Best, among Windoz), Netscape and many others. But the biggest advantage is you can use HotPop on any other Operating System too. As I use Linux most of the times it has come as a great help to me. People who are currently using Dial Up on windows should atleast try Dial Up on Linux, you will feel the difference in the connection speed.

HotPop gives an option of sending attachment of the size of 1Mb. The speed of receiving and sending the E-mails is exemplary. Like most of other mails it also provides us with Mail Forwarding to any other email account.

But it has a slight Flaw too, its SMTP server only sends mail if you have previously downloaded an E-Mail from there POP account. This is considered a Security feature, that discourages Spammers, to use this account.

This account is very easy to Setup. All you have to do is log-on to https://HotPop.com, and register yourself as a user. It will register you automatically and send an E-Mail to your default Mail account with all the details such as address of POP and SMTP server, etc.. Since it is a free website, it asks you to fill few forms, to know you better as a consumer. I have never, till now, received a junk mail from the HotPop server, so that form won't trouble you much.

Overall its a very good E-Mail site. You will never regret having an account on HotPop Server. And it's Free. Remember, The Best Things In Life Comes Free.

Mailing has always fascinated me and from the daily I first joined the circle of the net-mailing I really kept looking for email service which provided that extra quality.

I tried Yahoo!, Hotmail and

many other email service providers but soon found that they all come with the extra add-on SPAM.

So I then moved on as was looking for a email service provider which could provide me with both POP and SMTP servers so that the mailing task is purely simplified.

I basically download my mail through a email client and then read then after getting online.This really saves time and money.

So HOTPOP was there for the rescue providing me with both POP and SMTP servers and a excellent email facility.

OK, let me tell you what hotpop really is.No it is not like those free email clients which provide web mail access.

HOTPOP ONLY SUPPORTS POP3 AND NOT WEB MAIL.So if you are a cafe user then hotpop is not where you should be clicking.

But if you have a computer at home, the log on and enjoy this service which really is the best.

Hotpop is here to stay

Atleast that what it’s home page says.You can either choose from the free service or choose from the premium account types available on their website.

Although going for a free service would be my advice.

POP AND SMTP

POP - POST OFFICE PROTOCOL :- It is a type of protocol which your email client uses in order to download mail from your email server to your computer.This protocol also can delete messages from the server.

The POP address for Hotpop is pop.hotpop.com

Just enter the username and password on the box in your email client and then you are off to download mail’s.

The SMTP jhol

For using the SMTP server of your hotpop account you first have to login to your pop account.After only which you can use the SMTP server.

This is the step used to see that only hotpop user’s access the hotpop server and no one else.

No more SPAM

Hotpop according to me has the best spam protection and still date I have received only 3 email message which were mass mailed.

Don’t know how they came in , but then after using the mail filter options I have blocked then and no more spam.
