The iPod Miniwas a gift to me from my Uncle who got it in USA.,so dont know the exact price, infact he got me, my sister and cousin a mini each. We were all pretty excited cos it was around the time that everyone around us was talking about the iPod and now we had our own. I have an MP3 player by Maxell which is super cool but the iPod has much more than just music. So here is my take on my iPod
The Mini has a capacity of 4GBwhich roughly means you can store upto 1000songs and the battery will run for 8hours after which you need to charge it . It infact charges and syncs via USB ONLY, which is a wee bit of a problem cos you cant always carry it with you when you are travelling to remote places where you need to hunt high and low for a pc and sit around waiting for it to get charged.. This is the only drawback as far my relation with the Mini goes. :) It comes in multiple colours, so you can pick one that is your favorite( the one in pic is how mine looks .... blue )
Once the CD is installed in your pc,you can play around and explore your device. As I said before, its not just another music player, it has much more to offer the excited user. You can Syncs Contacts, CalendarsNotes,Games and the quintessential Clock feature. All you have to do is turn on your computer and you can export all contacts from your MS outlook or Outlook express, simply click and drag these to your ipod and voila, you have it all on this handy device.
The songs for the iPod are loaded through a software called iTunes, you can download it from the apple site and it acts as a medium , through iTunes, you can select and export all your favorite tracks to your ipod and change the collection , etc. iTunes can automatically synchronize a user's iPod with specific playlists or with the entire contents of a music library each time an iPod connects to the computer. You can also set a rating (out of 5 stars) on any song, and can synch this information with their iTunes music library. Super cool na :)
The iPod lets you choose between playing songs in order or shuffling them , playing a Music quiz where you need to choose the correct artist of the song that plays. There is also the Backlightfeature that lets you choose, or play around in the dark. All you have to do is Press and Hold the Menu button for a couple of secs.
My iPod Mini has 5buttons for you to access the contents and enjoy the full effect of the device. The buttons are:
Menu (to choose the menu and toggle the backlight) - on top
Center Select (this selects a menu item) - in the center
Play / Pause (this doubles as an off switch when held) - at the bottom
Fast Forward / Skip Forward - on right
Fast Reverse / Skip Backwards - on left
Click to fast-forward, rewind, play, pause or access menus. The touch-sensitive surface around the center button is used to control volume or browse music. It has the 4buttons around it and all you have to do is run your thumb over it clockwise to increase the volume and anti to reduce .
A Hold switch on the top of the unit, next to the headphones slot, when toggled, locks the device and avoids any accidental button presses(something similar to the keypad lock we have on our cell phones)
It also comes with a neat holder that you can slide the iPod into and clip onto your belt or pants when your walking, jogging etc. The Standard iPod unit comes with Apple's trademark white head phones ,the CD,user manual and USB cable..
Now that you have music everywhere you go, what are you waiting for ..... I have seen and heard that there are some newer snazy looking models that have come up. SO get yourself a mini,or Nano or Full size.. get yourself a Dock(where you can connect your iPod to big speakers made esp for the iPod) and have a party...
Get Moving.... Get Rocking.. ....
