Very Useful for Editing Photos
Oct 24, 2016 03:31 PM (via Android App)

I am using adobe photoshop since a long time. For me this is best photo editing software ever created. I have learned to use it from a computer training institute and since then I am using it for my daily needs.

Whenver I need to resize photo in a particular size, I rely on photoshop only ( Mostly In Govt Job Applications) .

I have used it for making correction in photos, For Example : Changing Background, Removing Spots from face. It also has some tools for desiging, which are used by me rarely.

Overall its a good piece.

Adobe Photoshop 5.5 is realy good Software that you can edit your photo and make a new photos as you want, Version 5.5 comes with a history palet that gives user unlimited undos, if you want to go undo 2 step then press Crtl+Alt+z and you can go 2 stape undo.

When photoshop 5.0 came out everyone love the additional feature, 'history', where you can track and find out each and every manipulation you've done on the image you can Edit old images with special effects & make it more refine. One cool feature about this version is the capability to create lossy GIFs. It is now possible to create a GIF file at nearly the same small size as a JPG with high compression

Adobe PhotoShop is a program, which is really close to my heart. Believe it or not I learned to use the computer not with Word or any other MS office package but with PhotoShop. It was version 4.0 and I was hooked into it. It became a passion and still is.

Adobe PhotoShop 5.5 is the ''webified'' version of the earlier version namely 5.0. With the launch of 5.5 Adobe wanted to make sure that along with its reputation in being the best image editing software it becomes web friendly. PhotoShop 5.5 ships with ImageReady 2.0 which is actually a separate application, technically speaking. Image Ready has a bag full of web tricks that wins your heart the moment you start using it. Slicing, rollovers, image maps become a child's play. Other spectacular features include file size and image quality optimization, animated GIFs and style sheets.

One cool feature about this version is the capability to create lossy GIFs. It is now possible to create a GIF file at nearly the same small size as a JPG with high compression. Adobe has stated that lossy GIF compression ensure to cut down the file sizes up to 50% smaller than a regular GIF with only minor degradation. Ask a web designer about this and he will show all his sparkling teeth. No more sleepless nights for him actually - the classic to be or not be situation is solved - he can create pictures that are approved by the web master with a million dollar smile - wow only 6 kb - let me think - it won't take more than a few seconds to download. I will recommend you for a promotion - you are such a team man. Always caring for the site and me. The designer is thrilled to know and use the Web page image gallery functionality. It is so simple and yet so effective when showing the boss the images that are planned to be used by him.

Not all that's new in PhotoShop 5.5 is Web-related. Some more features of the version are:

''Multiple undos'' for tracking image editing

Editable text for creating high-quality typography

Spot-color channels for incorporating specialty colors into print jobs

Broad range of new workflow and automation tools for greater productivity

New tools for increased precision and control over measurement and selection

Three different degrees of anti-aliasing for type, which greatly improves legibility at small sizes

A small tutorial, which was a real favourite of mine, is given below. You may try your hand and I am sure you will like the result.

Open an image of your choice using the option File Open.

Click on the Rectangular Marquee tool and draw a Selection at the points you would like the fade to take effect.

Select - Feather (Alt + Ctrl + D) In the resultant dialog box type 10 and press ok.

Next choose Select - Feather (Alt + Ctrl + D) again and press Delete to remove the border area. Now De-Select your selection (Ctrl + D)

Create a new layer, Layer - New. Fill it with your desired color. It should be placed under the layer where the original image appeared.

I am sure you would be able to do it even if you are new to this amazing program. Just play around and you will soon marvel at your own creation.

Explore PhotoShop and you will probably find it more interesting than most computer games.

Best picture editing software.
Apr 17, 2002 07:50 PM

The best software available for manipulation of raster-based images is Adobe’s PhotoShop 5.5.Web designers, photographers & other graphic professional use PhotoShop everyday to prepare images for Web pages, for print & for use in hundereds of other imaging applications.PhotoShop is a vast array of features & powerful special effects.PhotoShop 5.5 has maintained the image what Adobe had in general public with its earlier products like Adobe Illustrations,Adobe Pagemaker, Adobe Acrobatetc etc……

What you can do with Photoshop 5.5:

1)Import & export images in a variety of file formats.

2)Correct & retouch photographs.

3)Prepare images for designing & printing.

4)Edit old images with special effects & make it more refine.

5)Remove unwanted objects from the picture.

6)Replacing colours in an old image…………….& many more.

Adobe has added many new features in PhotoShop 5.5& has improved it from the older version of PhotoShop. The 5.5 version of PhotoShop is user friendly & it provides a much wider options for users to use.Since,I have not used PhotoShop 5.0 I normally cant tell you the difference between these 2 versions but will like to point out some of the main features of PhotoShop 5.5:

  • PhotoShop 5.5 toolbox has 22 tools. The toolbox contains the essential tools for painting, selecting & editing graphics. An icon depicts each tools(one good example of a user friendly software).

  • In the digital image world of PhotoShop, you can control where the colour is being applied & how the colour interacts with the colours underneath the painting tool. You can also control the size, opacity & blending mode of each tools.

  • Special effects can be created using the quick mask mode.

  • Being able to use Spot colours option is also a very good feature of PhotoShop 5.5.Spot Colours are special premixed inks used instead of or in addition to the prosess colours ie CMYK inks.

The history palette provides the ability to go beyond 1 undo & to work with previous versions of an image………There are many more features also which I guess, wont be able to write down.

If a new user is using PhotoShop without any proper guidance from a professional user than refer to the following websites for easy tutorial:

1) http://www.tutorialfind.com

2) http://www.vtco.com

3) http://www.phong.com(best)…..

Recently I downloaded PhotoShop 6.0 but found it to be little to complicated for comfort. At present I have both the versions installed in my computer & I prefer using the 5.5 version as it is user friendly & very easy to work with.

Tip of the day: ''If you can't beat your computer at chess, try kickboxing.''

Everything you need in a photo editing program
May 28, 2001 02:39 PM

As a photoshop user ever since the college course, Adobe photoshop has been the best one around for many years now. Now they've taken another step away from before and added many useful features for web usage as well. As many of you might know, when photoshop 5.0 came out everyone love the additional feature, ''history'', where you can track and find out each and every manipulation you've done on the image. That was one major plus because before when you use the option ''undo'', you can not go back more than 2 steps.

As for photoshop 5.5, they added another key elements for web masters. It has a great image ready option for internet use. Very easy to use if you are building a web page, you could import and export image easier than before.

Filters are basically the same, there are no other major changes. If I have to complain about this product is it's color correction is not as good as photoshop 5.0. Before when I use photoshop 5.0, I set my computer on WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) so the image are ready for print. But now there is a slight program with the black and white image in photoshop 5.5. They look slightly off and not true black or white.

I brought photoshop 6.0 when it first came out, but decide to uninstalled it and keep using photoshop 5.5. There is some problem with photoshop 6.0. I'm not sure how it is on a PC, when I freelance for this design company, I had a lot of error with photoshop 6.0 with Mac. I just mention about the problem with it's color correction, 6.0 is much worse. Besides, if you use other Adobe product, photoshop 5.5 works better with them rather than 6.0.

Sky isn't the limit
Feb 09, 2001 03:24 PM

There are many photo editing softwares available in the market but photoshop is the best software.

It is the software loved by most pc as well as mac users.

Version 5.5 comes with a history palet that gives user unlimited undos. Lot of filters available and the right combination produce unbeliveble results. It supports large no. of file format.

If you have good sence of color, tonal values then let your imagination do the miracle and if you have a system like power mac g4 then sky wont be the limit.

Help provided is very helpful but it says the basic operation, you can creat amazing results only with your imagination.
