Windows Media Player 12 is the latest version of Windows Media Player program and it comes pre-loaded with windows 7 and windows 8.1.
It is the default media player of windows OS, that means any media that you want to play on a windows machine will be played by Windows Media Player.
I have it in my PC and my laptop but let me be honest, I never use it. I have made VLC my default media player. So any media file opens directly in VLC, completely skipping Windows Media Player.
I do not like the UI of Windows Media Player. Its is not intuitive and it is somewhat complicated to setup and use.
Microsoft has tried to sync it with everything else windows but it just does not work for me.
They are now trying to add more and more codes and formats to the list of files it can play, but it is still not enough!
Verdict: There are much better and lighter media players out there available for free, go try them instead!
