It is best you do not even engage such dishonest sellers-you will just get abused as you found out. Recognize the obvious price scam, know the true value of such things and shop accordingly in non-tourist areas/shops where locals do. You need not be taken in by shysters; they will just gloat over another high markup sale on tourist-intended items. Most travelers do not need such warnings, and any subsequent item appraisals by legitimate expert appraisers will educate one about any monetary losses. Why be conned? Just say "NO!" in such foreign approaches or situations and keep walking away. That avoids any possible violence of sorts against you.
