I bought their sim card for a short visit abroad in 2010. I am getting their marketing SMSs till this day in 2017. I would recommend not taking their sim at all, or if you have to, do not give them your India mobile number.
I have requested their call centre several times. Every time the call center nincompoops say "Sorry sir . . . We have taken your request . . . hereafter you'll not get sir . . . ." sort of ready made, text book type replies. But they do not stop. So, beware, or you'll be bombarded with spam msgs till your dying day !
