If Tomorrow Comes by Sidney Sheldon - this 1985 thriller novel can be considered on par with some of his best, such as Master of the Game, The Other Side of Midnight, Bloodline, Windmills of the Gods to name just a few among his large repertoire of bestsellers. The story revolves around Tracy, a successful Philadelphia bank-worker and engaged to a wealthy heir, whose child she is carrying. Tracy gets a gun to threaten Romano who tries to rape her and in the milieu gets injured. Her lawyer cheats on her to commit her to plead guilty but connives with the judge who sentences her to 15 years in prison. Her fiance abandons her and while in prison she falls prey to the incessant abuses, and miscarries her child. While her goody world comes crashing down, Tracy now has only revenge on her mind and while out on an early parole, she goes about her job meticulously. How she eventually embraces the world of a colourful crime spree spread across Europe, her lust for stealing and her love affair with a co-conspirator makes for a gripping, edge of the seat reading.
