I am using hp 1020 printers in my office from 2010. I bought it for 5300 in 2010 then in 2012 for 6500/-. In the next few years it become very popular as it was user friendly and the company increased the price to 8500/-. But no other printers were selling for hp ., They stopped the production of this model. The Canon took this opportunity and released they own copy of HP 1020 naming as Canon IBP 2900 and was successful.
HP sales fell to bottom without 1020 so they again started manufacturing 1020 and picked up the sales.
Now both both basic HP 1020 and canon 2900 both are heavily priced above 11000/- which has a manufacturing cost of 4000/-.
