Woods Resort in Khatyari in Almora is a well-known hotel. The resort claims its proximity to the city of Almora, however, it is around 30 kms away from it and certainly not easily accessible. You have to go 4 km. towards an isolate place and the road is ridiculously narrow, so take care of that.
The resort is snuggled in a dense forest and chances are you can spot a Leopard during your visit. The rooms are spacious and the service here is warm. During my visit here, they did not have electricity back-up. So, whenever there was an electricity-cut( which is normal in a dense forest), I had to use candles or the flash light here. The TV in my room did have a set-top box, however, the dish was not working. When complained, the staff answered that they will resolve the issue soon.
The cottage is mostly made of woods and mud, so you can expect few insects crawling here and there. The food is average, since it is not a lavish resort. It is your typical Kumaoni-themed villa. The menu did not have any variety either. Additionally, you cannot take a walk after sunset, as the resort is located in a dense forest. I would not term this resort as kids-friendly either.
I am, in no way, discouraging you with my words. I would just advise you to thoroughly check all the facilities and make sure they are providing them as promised.
