Unplugged - Alice in Chains

This album is great!!! Alice in Chains always had the best albums!! It is very bittersweet though. This album was recorded after a long silence from the band because of Layne's serious and eventual fatal drug addiction to heroin. I must say that even in his weakened state of health that Layne really was able to give a tremendously moving performance. The rest of the band of course was at their optimum as well. I feel sad every time that I listen to this album because I know that it was the last time the band ever got record or perform together before they broke up. I know that the disease of addiction was just too much for any of them to handle. Layne tried for years to beat it, but it killed him. If you like this band at all this is an absolute must have for you. I can guarantee that you will enjoy this album. I am so glad that I have it. The beautiful music that this band created will be missed by many people. They still get regular airplay after all of these years. They were some of the best musicians that I have ever heard. If you have not listened to this band you really should. Listen to the lyrics and you will get a glimpse into the hell that is the reality for millions of people who suffer from drug addiction. KUDO's to this album.

If you like accoustic grunge rock Alice In Chains is the band , you'll love this album.-Alice In Chains UNPLUGGED. It is one of my favorite Alice In Chains album. It gripped my attention the entire day I was listening to it. In case you are not familiar with MTV Unplugged, its a show where bands play accoustic UNPLUGGED songs, music that only uses instruments whose sound is not electronically modified, for example acoustic guitar, acoustic piano, etc., as opposed to electric guitar, synthesizer .Bck to alice in chains -Unplugged The first song is ''Nutshell'', from the album Jar of Flies. Then goes into another slow one with ''Brother''. Then the familiar ''No Excuses''. I was impressed with the accoustic version of one of my favorite songs ''Sludge Factory''. It seems like it was meant to be an accoustic song. . I like how they played some songs seem like they were meant to be accoustic. Some of these songs are ''Angry Chair'', and ''Would?'', ''Down in a hole''. This is a must for everyone who likes accoustic songs with an edge. Two songs I can relate to because of the lyrics Nutshell (We chase misprinted lies We face the path of time And yet I fight And yet I fight This battle all alone No one to cry to No place to call home My gift of self is raped My privacy is raked And yet I find And yet I find Repeating in my head If I can't be my own I'd feel better dead ) second one is "Down in a ..." ( Bury Me Softly In This Womb I Give This Part Of Me For You Sand Rains Down And Here I Sit Holding Rare Flowers In A Tomb.....In Bloom .........And I Don't Know If I Can Be Saved See My Heart I Decorate It Like A Grave You Don't Understand Who They Thought I Was Supposed To Be Look At Me Now A Man Who Won't Let Himself Be , Losin' My Soul , Losin' Control I'd Like To Fly But My Wings Have Been So Denied And They've Put All The Stones In Their Place I've Eaten The Sun So My Tongue Has Been Burned Of The Taste ..................
