It is said as Government of odisha initiative for the people. But must say this is the worst. You will never get fresh vegetables and fruits here. When this was first opened at place like near KIIT Square, Jaydev Vihar, etc.there was too crowd. But gradually the scenario changed, hardly 5-6 people in each outlet will be seen now. Whenever I went get the basic veggies like potatoes and onion and tomatoes; I hardly find any good amount of them. Most of the veggies either is finished or are rotten. Though the prices of them are less as compared to the local vendors. But the most necessary thing is the quality of the product.

Approximately two years back, the Government of Orissa decided to open fresh vegetable stores in urban areas called'Udyan Fresh' to help common people to get fresh vegetables at a reduced price. But in these two years, what people have perceived is that these stores are as god as any private vegetable retailer's shop in all aspects.

Background: The basic idea was to procure fresh vegetables on daily basis directly from the farmers and sell it to common people in stores called'Udyan Fresh' and many such stores were opened in urban areas. Initially it worked well and all stores were crowded during evening hours.

Products: The quality of products were the same as with any other vegetable retailer sitting on road sides. Products were dumped in shelf open without any kind of packaging, . Speaking about freshness, it is also as good as in any private shop. Common people were crowded in stores and the products were sold quickly and selves remained vacant most of the times.

Service: The sales people in these stores were not polite enough that distracted common buyers and the number of visitors got reduced gradually.

Now people prefer less to visit these stores as in quality or in price, it did not differ from private retailers and moreover, the service at retailers is found to be much better.
