Two - The Calling

'Two'(aptly titled) represents 'Two' things. First, this is The Calling's second album, after their multi-platinum debut Camino Palmero (remember Wherever You Will Go?). And second, The Calling are now just 'Two' guys; lead singer Alex Band, and musician Aaron Kamin.

Alex Band's ability to vocally pull off the deep bass stuff along with the really high notes has given The Calling a dynamic feature that, sadly, is found lacking in many North American pop-rock outfits. And this dynamic vocal-ism is so clearly displayed in 'Two'.

From the catchy opening single One By One (about suicide), to the melodramatic If Only, Band faultlessly flaunts his vocal prowess. Thankfully, the album doesn't stick to the Camino Palmero formula, and is refreshingly different. My pick is the somewhat Lifehouse-ish 'Somebody Out There'. Pet peeve - though BMG have priced this disc extremely reasonably, they've left out the Enhanced CD content, even though the print on the CD label itself mentions it. Overall, 'Two' is a worthy follow-up for Band's band, and Calling fans should definitely pick it up.
