Vga is just not enough.we have moved into times where your monitors should be able to connect with laptops / intel nucs and mac minis / chromecasts / teewe 2 media streaming devices/ many other mini devices like android sticks and boxes, mini pcs etc via hdmi port that can carry both audio and video signals, incase your monitor has in built speakers it will be great . Built-In speakers save the hassles of space and wires, really!
Though with Tewee 2 and Chromecast you may not get the sound output on most Monitors but you can use a separate hdmi audio extractor boxes that cost around 2700 I India .
Also remember the moment you move above 18.5 inches screen size its better you buy a full HD monitor only or else the display might pixelate .
Ideally look for a Monitor that has support for both Vga / Hdmi and is a full HD screen ie resolution of 1920x 1080. Hd ready resolution of 1366 x768 pixel monitors are guilty of jagged and fuzzy fonts .
You get very few monitors that have inbuilt speakers but if you get one latch onto it, its great to use a chromecast or apple Tv with such monitors without having to buy a TV and save some money .
Refresh rate is another consideration with all monitors and Tvs.choose one with a higher refresh rate and low power consumption .Now most of the monitors can't be tilted but some of them can be, which is a bonus, some monitors like Tvs also come with wall mounts, how wonderful, really .
It goes without saying choose an led with at least 3 years of warranty and not just 1, preferably on-site and not carry in .
Buying an hdmi / full HD monitor will make it future proof and ensure a good resale value if you have to ever sell it .
I also like to check the skin tones and color reproduction of the monitor before I buy one . Some monitors show poorly from angles, make sure to test-view your monitor and check out the viewing angles .
Hidden feather touch buttons on the monitor panel are less likely to go bad compared to mechanical physical buttons, keep that in mind as well .
With the market being flooded with media streaming devices like chromecasts, tewee, apple tv amazon Tv, roku, android sticks, etc, it wont be a bad idea to buy a monitor with built -in speakers or simply use an led which is a tv-monitor hybrid.
