Laxmikanth Pyarelal Great hindi Music composers
Aug 29, 2007 10:49 PM 4827 Views

Laxmikanthji and Pyarelalji were those sort of musicians who were able to lift you high into the world of dreams, far from the scorching realities.  I am an ardent fan of these musicians.  A list of my favourite songs of LP are :

1) 'ek rithu aye, ek rithu jaye' fom 'sau saal bad'2) 'kabhi to miloge jeevan saathi' from Sati savitri' 3) 'neend kabhie rahathe the ankhon mem' and 'daiya re daiya yasodha maiya' from 'asra'4)'wohe zara khafa khafa' from'shagird'5)'Majhi chal majhi chal' fom 'aya sawan jhoomke'6)'Bhahosom hawas mein deevana' from 'night in london'7)'Majhi naiya doonde kinara' from'upahar' 8)'raath suhane jaag rahe he dheere dheere chupke chupke' from 'jigri dost' 9)'Resham ki dore' from 'sajan'(old) 10) 'dal gaya din ho gaye sham from 'humjoli'.  I am also very fond of their background score I films, especially in 'uphaar'.  Thier music  is simply great and matchless.

May 05, 2007 05:54 PM 6539 Views

Though I am a much bigger fan of RD Burman and simply crazy about his brand of music, I am making a selection of 20 best songs of Laxmi-Pyaare.This follows my earlier review on - 20 best songs of RD Burman

Here goes

  • 1-Mere dil mein aaj kya hai(Daag)- A rare soft sensuous romantic number of Kishore da with a whisper-soft feel

  • 2- Mere naseeb main aai dost( Do raaste) - A brooding romantic song sung in his inimitable style by Kishoreda

  • 3 Bindiya chamkegi( Do raaste)- A mischevious racy number with Lata at her best

  • 4 Dard-e-dil( Karz) - A great number by Rafi with plenty of twists and turns

  • 5 Ek haseena thi(Karz) - My favourite LP number by Kishore and Asha and a rivetting and haunting melody and unbeatable background score

  • 6 Main shayar to nahin( Bobby) - Bobby cant be ignored in any LP compilation and out of many songs I chose this one due to the freshness of Shailendra's rendition. Raj Kapoor got the best from LP in Bobby & Satyam shivam Sundaram

  • 7 Ruk jaana nahin(Imtihan) - Another unforgettable Kishoreda classic

  • 8 Meri dosti mera pyaar(Dosti) -Dosti catapulted LP into the halls of fame and I have chosen its best number

  • 9 Ke aaja teri yaad aayi( Charas) - A soft romantic duet by Rafi-Lata

  • 10 Roz shaam aati(Imtihan) - An absolutely haunting score by Lata reverbearting in the stillness of the hills and valleys

  • 11 Hai hai ye majboori(Roti kapda aur makaan) - A teasing swinging number by Lata again. Manoj Kumar utilised LP in a great way

  • 12 Ek pyaar ka nagma hai(Shor) - another Manoj Kumar-LP masterpiece

  • 13 Aaj mausam bada beimaan hai(Loafer) - Rafi again in a great solo that has a timeless appeal

  • 14 Too mera jaanu hai(Hero) - Anuradha Paudwal used excellently by LP

  • 15 Ye jeevan hai(Piya ka ghar) - Kishoreda is another whisper -soft philosophic number

  • 16 Mere mehboob qayamat hogi( Mr X in bombay) - Haunting song by Kishoreda again. One of the very early LP compositions

  • 17 Gaadi bula rahi hai ( Dost) - Great train song with some great lyrics and musical score

  • 18 Maim jat yamla pagla(Pratigyya) - Rafi -Dharamji in a great swinging combination

  • 19 Aate jaate khoobsurat awaara sadko pe(Anurodh) - Now Anurodh had some great numbers with -'Aapke anurodh pe' being another great number. Shakti Samanta usually took RD for his films and this was perhaps the only movie where he chose LP and what a great score he came up with!

  • 20 Purdah hai purdah( Amar akbar Anthony) - Perhaps the most popular qawwali of Hindi film music

Bindia Chamake Gi.. Lata Mangeshkar & L.P.
Sep 27, 2004 12:17 AM 8371 Views

It is the tunes and not the creators that are remembered. I feel it is remarkable that Laxmikant-Pyarelal's success lasted more than three decades (1963-1998) despite changes in trends, tastes and lifestyles and without the kind of media hype, marketing and promotion as seen today. In their time, they only had the radio [for publicity]. Laxmi-Pyare's music was not about one or two hit songs per film. The entire album would be a hit.

Few years ego EMI London (UK) had released a lovely CD “LATA MANGESHKAR with LAXMIKANT-PYARELAL”. This CD is still in much demand outside India particularly in Europe and USA.

It is an open fact that Lata Mangeshkar sounds extremely melodious under Laxmikant-Pyarelal and does not require any media publicity.

Lata Mangeshkar has sung all together 666 numbers of songs under the banner of Laxmikant-Pyarelal, which remains RECORD in itself. Not only that, Lata-LP team has also given the maximum varieties of songs which includes Indian Classicals, Gazals, Bhajans, Mujara, Folk and Western style and all these varieties are available in this CD. According to EMI London (UK), it was very difficult task to select only 16 best songs of Lata-LP combination.

Just listen to the variation of 24 years (1963 – 1987) of Lata-LP. Any Hindi Film Music Lover, who likes old songs, would like to have this CD.
