A catharsis

If you love ghazals like me; then, this album suits you. It is a collaboration of two great maestros - one living; other departed. Lata Mangeshkar is rightly called night angle of Indian subcontinent. Well, it is all because of her excessive sadhana( hard work) and devotion that turned her into a miracle. One can say same thing about Jagjit Singh whose extensive riyaz(hard work) turned him into a great ghazal master.

Well, every time, I listen to Ghum Ka Khazana Tera Bhi Hai Mera Bhi; my eyes well up.

There are other ghazals too but this particular ghazal is signature song of this album.

Undoubtedly, it is a great music album

A must-have!

Though there had been previous releases by the duo Lata-Jagjit like 'Adaa' but none excelled as much as 'Sajda' did. This is an exquisite collection of ghazals and nazms written by various shayars and sung by Jagjit/Lata. The music composed by Jagjit is simply splendid. Numbers like 'Gham Ka Khajana' (Lata/Jagjit), 'Har Taraf Har Jagah' (Lata/Jagjit), 'Mousam Ko Isharo Se' (Jagjit), 'Ankh Se Door na Ho' (Lata) together make this album a must-have! The lyrics are written by renowned shayars like Nida Fazli (Har Taraf Har Jagah), Qateel Shifai (Dard Se Mera Daaman Bharde), Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi (Kisko Qaatil Mein Kahoon) which make this collection a complete listening pleasure.

There has been a wonderful assortment of traditional instruments used to impart melody to various numbers. I particularly adored the sarod played in the number 'Tere Jalwe Ab Mujhe'.

The album is recorded digitally at HMV and hence, adds another charm in listening.
