Saif ali khan in unfamous khan among other khan like Shahrukh, Salman and Amir khan. I never use to watch his movie because he don't know how to deliver the dialogue and to express acting.

Also he never come in solo role every time he wants some other cast appearance in the movie to cover his weakness ie, Acting.

The Nawab,The Star
Sep 03, 2014 09:54 AM 5169 Views

Saif Ali Khan started his acting career with'Aashiq Awara'.Opposite Mamta Kulkarni one may add and in 1993.In those days a lot of people said he was effeminate. He was a wild child, loved the good life and went around with older women. In fact he married Amrita Singh who was older by many years. But he also kept on doing films, some good, some horrible.

His lucky break came with'Dil Chahta Hai'.He kind of played himself in the film, happy-go-lucky, a casanova who wore his heart on his sleeve. He did many films thereafter. But really, he doesn't need to work at all.He is the scion of the Pataudi clan who are worth Rs 3000 crore and more. This family has properties all over India & the middle east.Having said that Saif is a serious actor.

Give him a role that suits him & he will try his best to do it.These days he is in the news more for being Kareena Kapoor's husband since he is not doing so many films. He is half-bengali, being Sharmila Tagore's son.So, we bengalis have a soft spot for him.He has been involved in a rash-driving case and a few other cases. He has had a heart attack. But he is an unique actor as he can play the suave, westernized but essentially indian male.A film like'Salam Namaste' can only be made with an actor like Saif. But then'Salam Namaste' was too westernized for an indian audience that lives mostly in villages.Whatever it is Saif remains an important indian actor.

Saif .. as an actor

S a I f .. as an actor

I happened to watch a few of Saif's movies

To name Parineeta, Salam Namaste .............

and to say as an actor he did them all extremely well.

and the observation is that whatever roles he is casted in,

he did them confidently.

His pairing  with the Parineets heroine Vidiya Balan is

much suited.

His confidence in acting is his key to success.

Besides his skills, he possess a confident, strong manly

walking style.   He is now an estabilished proven actor in his

own natural style beyond any question.

Looks like he is going to be  another No 1 ruling star in the

world of bollywood .

Aditya says 'tit 4 tat' to saif
Jan 29, 2007 06:50 PM 3236 Views

If grapevine were to be believed, Saif Ali Khan were scheduled to playthe role of Raj in the all time blockbuster film DDLJ.No sooner did therole was offered to him by Aditya Chopra than he turned it down.Aditya mighthave got the blow of his life. People tend to make mistakes but hereour Saif makes a blunder.Keeping in mind his statistics, he were not upto the mark at that time yet such an attitute..

No wonder he became astar off late. His debut movie Parampara again from a yashraj stablealso could not make much waves. Now comes the best part where Saif hasan appropriate account to repent, something really jocular punched in.Itjust happened where DDLJ part 2 were doing the rounds, Saif wanted to bethe part of the starcast, but Aditya did not complied with thepropoundment and shuffled him off discourteously.

Saif now a star wasmuffled shuffled and thunderstruck. Now what better example can be giventhan this one to explain newtons 2nd law.(to every action there is anequall and opposite reaction)Aditya says"Tit for Tat"

Something looks good when untouched. We hope to see the best Jodi ofBollywood to beam gleam and scintillate once again on silverscreen.Shahrukh Khan is always there forYash Raj banner and Kajol hasalso barged in with Fanna. So we already have a starcast at ourdisposal. But something we'll crave for will be an actor like AmrishPuri. We will always miss him.Where the new formula of sequels have striked ten we hope the verysame fate for upcoming ddlj2.

SAIF VS SHAHRUKH
Aug 22, 2006 12:50 PM 3636 Views

Cut to the aerly 90's when Sharmila Tagore and Pataudi's son was launched in Aashiq Awara. An effiminate looking boy with long hair and a girly voice, who would have imagined that this person would do the most interesting range of roles in mid 2000?And well.. be close the no.1 position that has been well protected by Shahrukh and Aamir.Yes,that's true.As far as performance AND FILMS are concerned Saif outshines even Shahrukh in the past 3-4 years. Its true that he has not developed the habit of producing a blockbuster every year that Shahrukh does but the quality of the films hat he has been part of has been fabulous-Dil Chahta Hai,Kal ho na ho,Hum tum,Salaam Namaste,Parineeta,Being Cyrus,Omkara,Eklavya(about to release)-Look at the range of roles. From playing a upper middle class confused guy in Dil Chahta Hai to the hero of Sarat Chandra's classic in Parineeta, from a parsi in Being Cyrus to U.P bhaaiya in Omakara,I think he is the ONLY other actor apart from Aamir who has SUCCESSFULLY portrayed this amazing range. While Shahrukh has been depending on the same lover boy(sorry man) boring roles even now(can he ever play langda tyagi so convincingly) Saif has gone past him in performances.Of course he does not have the huge NRI following which saves Shahrukh every time but he has his share of fans(and they are multiplying).Keep up the good work Saif!!!!!

Hey buddy sup?
Apr 22, 2006 07:25 PM 4774 Views

Well .......buddy I think saif is one of the most under-rated actors.......i personally think he is understand, irreverent and a bit of a non-conformist as a person and as a performer thats what sets him apart and thank god for that otherwise we have to suffer MR HAM AND PORKCHOPS (read sha rukh khan) and MR CHOCOLATEY-PSEUODO INTELLECTUAL(read aamir khan) MR BEEF-CAKE-DUMB-BELLES ( read salman khan and the dumb belles no prices for guessing aishwarya and katrina......dont even get me started on sangeeta bijlani and somy ali.......whos she now?) and not forget MR HAMLET ( amitabh bacchan ) and his BABY-BOY-OMELLETE (read abhishek bachan) .

saif I think is also the very definition of cool............he is the coolest dude around he is so cool he is hot.........huh red hot chilly pepper .........hahaha.......saifu keep up the attitude man ...you rock!

also have to mention one of my other favourite alongside saif is MR .INTENSITY (ajay devgan) huh now this guy has the best eyes in the business ........huh he is so hot that I can consider double dating him with saif .............hahahaha......i think ajay should divorce kajol and marry me so that I can have him and also cheat on him with saif that ways I can have the cake and eat it too ........lol ...no pun intended.........ok before I go I have to mention I find owen wilson and dennis cute too they are the very definition of cute so ideally I would want to marry ajay and have saif ,owen and dennis as my lovers........hahaha watch this space for more coz I might just want tell find out more men who I think are interesting and would want to tell you guys about it..........

take care

What Made My Heart Go Hmm... in SN
Mar 04, 2006 03:21 AM 3024 Views

Okay, the title sounds schoolgirlish, but I am a girl, what can I say? This guy just does it for me.

Ironically, I hated Saif in the first movie I saw him in (KHNH) (I was only introduced to BW in 2003), but it wasn't that I hated his acting. It was because his character, Rohit was in the way of sweethearts, SRK and Preity. It's my favourite movie, ok. Sometimes I get caught up in the storyline. Any BW fan that says they never confuse reality with fantasy, especially girls, are lying!

Anyway, when I saw him in Hum Tum, he kind of grew on me and I liked his performance so much that I was ecstatic to see him in Darna Mana Hai. For a guest role, he was very good, but it was in Parineeta that I really admired as an actor. Saif was increasingly winning with me, but I still didn't see him as I saw SRK - good actor with sex appeal and charisma.

It took Salaam Namaste for me to see Saif as sexy, which he is. I liken him to a Bollywood version of John Cusack - not exactly good looking (in the traditional sense, but makes up for it with wit and quirky charm.

I hope to see more of him in future!

The Coolest Khan from a royal family
Feb 05, 2006 01:36 PM 5647 Views

Saif Ali Khan belongs to a family whose members have achieved so much in their fields . His great grandad Rabindranath Tagore was a freedom fighter and a Noble Prize winner whose has written our national anthem Jan Gan Man , his mom Sharmilla Tagore was a famous actress in her period and his dad Nawab Tiger Pataudi Khan was one of the successfull test captains of our cricket team . Saif has got the approach no stopping him to get a role in movies he is unlike SRK , Govinda who rose from rags to the rich .

Saif as the family parampara was sent to London for studies when he was 10 years old he was a die hard fan of the Beatles , Saif completed his education and Graduation from England and came back to India . He was jobless and was totally dependent upon his parents as the family was very rich Saif did not spend a single second in constantly buying sports cars , he used to return from night clubs and was always drunk . His dad got worried and eventually throwed him out of the house this is how Saif's struggle began , he had already done a Mass Communication Course in England , he did not had insticts to become a Cricketer so he had to become an actor . He approached many producer and directors for a role but most of them rejected him , it was the beautifull Amrita Singh who was at the peak of her career who helped and sort out his problems , she gave him money and home and because of her his debut film was to have been Bekhudi, opposite newcomer Kajol. But the director tossed him out amidst allegations of tardy arrivals and drunken behavior.

Saif got married to Amrita Singh in 1991 , he made his official debut in 1993 with Aashiq awaara , it won Saif won the Best Debut Award . But it was in 1994 ''Yeh Dillagi'' with Kajol and Akshay Kumar it was a Yash Raj Production and it had to be a superhit and made him famous , but the n came the unexpected failures flops after flops , it was Seventeen in a row which must be a record . Saif took a break in his career and concentrated on his family then he returned with an objective set in his mind , then came Kya Kehna which was an average but his part was well applauded , then came the hit Hum Saath Saath Hain which had a very well effective star cast. But in 2001 Dil Chahta hai broke all the barriers of him being an underactor and the movie was a super hit it made Saif won the Best role in Comic in the filmfare's.He followed it up with memorable performances as a comic eligible bachelor in Kal Ho Naa Ho, a manipulative gangster in Ek Hasina Thi, and a light-hearted cartoonist in Hum Tum. Hits after hits awards after awards Saif even won the best actor in the national awards for Hum Tum . Then came up the critically acclaimed movies which were hits such as Salaam Namaste where he was again a cool dude and Parineeta where he played the character of an inscure person till its utmost depth .

His divorce with his so much understanding wife Amrita Singh who was actually 10 years senior to him was not Liked for a single moment by actors like Jackie Shroff and especially Sanjay Dutt . His misbehaving attitude has been lowered but its still there , he has been in contoversies when his dad had been arrested , when his car hit a child . But intially till now Saif has struggled a lot beside having a very strong background .

Saif has proved like most of the celeberities do hard work is the key of success and never take Success and Failure for granted .

Slow 'n steady wins the race!!

From 'ashiq awara' to 'salam namaste'...saif had a loooonnng journey with hell lot of hastles and downfalls...but finally he proved. saif has managed to get over the success boat...and there seems to be no full stop now.

the guy has not only improved his looks and style but acting too!! I wud b puzzled if some one asks me, which movie did he give his best...rehna hai tere dil mein...hum tum...kal ho na ho....parineeta...and the list goes on...

yeah..i know in initial years he was not even worth a glance...but a person who picks with time and makes his stand is a winner, and saif is a winner...he learned with time and has achieved to make his mark in his proffession...none of us were born dude!! every one of us learns from our day-to-day experiences and brings and adapts changes with time....and so did he...

'n as far as his divorce is concerned...i guess everyone has his/her personal life...none of us know wht and where things went wrong between the couple....i am not saying amrita is to be blamed or saif...none of us knows and the fact..his new girl friend...ths again part of life...just 'coz his affair came into news...how many of us know tht amrita is also seeing someone...and moreover...saif is an actor, we should be just concerned about his acting and his work...and HATS OFF!!! to that....and relating to his personal life and his stardom people generally have the point to raise that stars are ikons or a personality to whom public looks upto...i wud say...it's better to create your own identity..rather than trying and fitting yourself into his/her shoes...

so to sum up....Saif has proved himself and I am sure we have loads more to applaud for the cool dude!!!

**Woh kaun hai?**
Sep 24, 2005 12:36 PM 5083 Views

Saif Ali Khan! Well, this review tho hona hi tha considering I’ve mentioned him in practically all of my reviews so far! What can I say about him? The completely gorgeous heart beater of today, the one who sets his own styles for others to follow and doesn’t believe in vice versa, the one who is at this very moment having an argument with Abhishek Bachan over Chandra! Mouthshut writes “choose products that you wish for and your MS friends may want to get you those as gifts!” If any one of you could get me my wish list, I will be extraordinarily shocked heh heh :P

Well anyway, Saif Ali Khan is one of those actors who we always see as having the same roles, and those roles of course have to be those of a total flirt, but I don’t see why he always gets rejected because he is way to cute to be sent away in real life. (I know he doesn't look nice in that picture!) However, there are many subtle, unrecognised roles where he isn’t the usual playboy type and I think that this has stopped people from recognising his true potential.

The plank

As every wonderful actor like Abhishek has had a rocky start, Saif was definitely no exception. He started off with a large row of big flops, with only a couple of hits, in which he still wasn’t known. And not to mention that ridiculous hair which made him look weird but he still managed to look cute. Admittedly, he didn’t even appeal to me at first: with his school-boyish looks and hidden acting skills.

His debut film was Aashiq Awara alongside popular actors of the time such as Kader Khan and Mamta Kulkarni. This film was a moderate hit, but any credit that went to it was for the more advanced actors in the film, which totally shunned Saif to the side. His acting was very good, if a little amateur and he didn’t get full credit for his role.

Then he made other flop films such as Parmapara which was a Yash Chopra movie, Yaar Gadaar, where his acting was commendable but the movie was completely flop. By this time, all he was seen as was an odd 23 year old, immaturely married to an actress some 15 years older than him, with a strange hair cut, strong accent and cheeky smile.

Other movies he made included Surakshaa, with Monica Bedi, Dil Tera Deewana another major flop and Aao Pyar Kare which was somewhat of a hit but still, Saif was not recognised.

Ahoy there pirate!

But then, Saif was led off the plank and welcomed aboard as a member of the Bollywood crew. Whether it was his dedicated performances in all of the films listed above, or the saving grace of Akshay Kumar nobody knows but one things for sure: there was no going back for him!

Main Khiladi Tu Anari was released and brought with it tons of applause for both Saif and Akshay. As the gorgeous ‘Anari’, he was finally known for his own wonderful acting, although as usual, his playboy roles were getting a bit repetitive. However, one negative factor came with this film: he was not congratulated for his performance as much as Akshay who stole the spotlight. The same thing happened with Yeh Dillagi where Saif gave an outstanding performance but his success was hidden behind the other superstar starring alongside him.

Then a long long break where nobody quite knew what he was doing, he made a couple of flop films which I don’t have a clue about, and finally in 1999 was offered his breakthrough by Rajshri Productions with Hum Saath Saath Hai, with Karishma Kapoor their jodi was clearly the best and their entertainment factor was a definite 10! (But not as nice as him and Chandra of course :P) From here, Saif was on a definite up, and whatever happened, nobody could bring him down! :-) Oh and it was from MKTA that Chandra decided she liked him very much!

Salaam Namaste Captain!

Phir aagaya his period of heaven! Kachhe Dhaage was released with Saif getting approved by many critics as “having wonderful promise”, however the film was a flop. So Saif’s spirits were slightly dropped but he still had to have the sweet scent of success.

2001: his year of triumph which brought with it Dil Chahatta Hai, which was a huge success in the box office, and completely turned Saif’s career upside down, inside out. As the cute, gorgeous, handsome, awesome, charming yet girl obsessed guy in this film, it was clear that finally he had something to celebrate up his sleeve.

Love Ke liye Kuch Bhi Karega, Rehna Hai Tera Dil Mein, Darna Mana Hai, Naa Tum Jaano Naa Hum and L.O.C Kargil were all films where he played side roles or special appearances but still increased his popularity greatly. Like Abhishek, he was turning into an actor who only had to make his presence felt to be loved by all!

Kal Ho Naa Ho: Do I even need to say how fit Saif looked in this movie? With his wonderful face, nice suits and gorgeous smile he stole the hearts of so many people. Ek Haseena Thi made his career boost even more, with one of his first roles that were both negative and not centered around flirting with girls (although there was a fair bit of wolf whistling in the cinema!).

Sab kuch chura liya hai aapne:

What can I say about his latest films? Hum Tum was another film which showed he could play a variety of roles and still look and act very well! His chemistry with Rani Mukhergee was wonderful, but I think one of you Mouthshut guys need to take her away from him, they are getting too close! :P

Parineeta, yes I admit it, I haven’t seen one of his best movies, but kya karu? I just haven’t had the chance, its next on my to do list! :D Well this was an immediate hit in the box office, with Saif in a more serious role!

Salaam Namaste: for more information tune into my or rather any review on this film, like I’ve said, Saif proved he looks brilliant in a Girl Power t-shirt and his acting was superb, and widely acclaimed as an immature, arrogant kind of guy, with a gradual transformation. Oh take Preity away too with her silly short skirts!

sorry, it was less than 8000 characters but MS still wouldn't let me post it! Continued

Saif ''the entertainer'' Khan
Jul 18, 2005 09:54 AM 3078 Views

People, I can guarantee even if you hate Saif by any rare chance, this review will be appreciated for one big reason: IT'S OBJECTIVE! You won't see me use inexplicable adjectives for the guy coz I will review him with an objective point of view. He is no Bachchan vs. SRK vs. Hrithik Roshan candidate to come up and ask for aggression, so I'll be merely factual!

Saif entered with a big launch in Aashiq Awara. Although as a guy I can say with objective point of view that he had cute-boy looks, he was rejected outright for being reminiscent of his mother. Then some said after hearing his voice that he might've got the acting genes from his cricketer dad and not his actress mom! Well that's a shameful comment. Especially when I remember that someone asked me who is your favorite actor once. I said, well there are many, I like Ajay, Abhishek, Fardeen, and Saif. And the response is, I asked for actor, not actress, so how come u said Saif. That was weird. I mean people talk some weird stuff. Saif surely had feminish features in his youth. But that was mainly due to his mom's heritage. People give me a break coz hell no he looked like no chick!

Besides, you have to say that no matter what stage of his career, he was a funny individual and at least never made u panic and cry during his movies. His movies, even the biggest flops, had their share of entertaining scenes, and the guy didn't surely disappoint in any. Yet his other areas held him back and there were only three Khans until 2001, Shahrukh, Aamir, and Salman. Saif even had a new competitor for the fourth place, Fardeen Khan, who in Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega even competed with Saif in Saif's own game---comedy!

Now Saif fans had been so let down by his not-so-happening image. Since I was always a fan of him merely looking at him as an entertainer, I thought Bollywood just lost one of its effortlessly funny guys coz of stupidity. I mean not even big stars like SRK and Sallu get comedy as naturally as Saif did! And as said before it's factual. More on that next!

In August 2001, Farhan Akhtar made his directorial debut with a movie called Dil Chahta Hai, which today needs no intro. It was a highly anticipated film because of Aamir Khan but it was actually Saif and Akshaye who supported Aamir on every step to make Farhan's great movie a success! Saif did his comic role with a different touch. He didn't just make a joke of himself. He delivered as per the requirements and the next thing we know...he beats Hrithik and AB Sr. for the best supporting actor award. Although it's unrealistic to say that someone beat AB Sr. , well Saif actually won the award all the times it was staged!

Then came a gap in his career where he became choosy and stuff. Well after 2 years, he came back well awaited with SRK in Karan Johar's Nikhil Advani directed Kal Ho Na Ho. Even with stalwarts like SRK in the movie, Saif made sure that he got noticed. He, in some scenes, had better chemistry with Preity than SRK,objectively speaking. I mean that is why he has a Yashraj movie (Salaam Namaste) lined up with her in August! So, we see Saif enter the big leagues, and hit a jackpot with new directors like Akhtar and Advani. Next, Kunal ''Mujhse Dosti Karoge-failure'' Kohli ropes SAK in his next movie, Hum Tum with the Chopras, and well, Saif rocks the show with his performance in the movie. His dance, his dialogue delivery, his personality, and hell even his features look like that of a true guy. He certainly silenced a lot of people with this performance! Just watch out and u'll know, which many have already done by now!

Before Hum Tum, Saif ensured that he won't just succeed because of being a comic actor. Although his first attempt at serious cinema (upon return) was a failure in LOC, his second in EK HASINA THI by RGV proved to be amazing. The guy played his shady, anti-hero part with amazing ease and became an instant revelation in even a serious role! His hardwork showed. Also post Hum Tum, we see him in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's PARINEETA where he reportedly just ignites the screen with effortless expressions, again in a serious role. I told you acting itself comes naturally to the guy, it was only a matter of time that he shows it. And hey, people are even listening to me NOW!!! He won all comic role awards for Hum Tum this year and also the Samsung style icon last year along with all best supporting actor parts for Kal Ho Naa Ho! This year however, he got what he deserved the most, award for the best actor---THE NATIONAL AWARD ppl! I can see something burning (SRK fans, huh?) Well that's merely objective!

As I said before, Saif is no SRK when it comes to popularity. But his eventual success and rise to fame proves that, 1. Hardwork paves the way for success and 2. The slow and steady wins the race. Saif has established himself pretty much on his own in the last 4 years and one must admit, there's a while you've seen a FLOP label on any of his movies. That's a real positive sign since he deserves it. And another thing you have to give is that this guy is really IN these days, and since he has been impressing me all that while , he deserves a 4 star thumbs up!

The nawab of non-sense
Jul 14, 2005 02:43 PM 4341 Views

Non-Sense : A small dictionary software that rests down in my taskbar describes Non-sense in two ways.

  1. A message that seems to convey no meaning.

  2. Ornamental objects of no great value.

Saif Ali Khan (SAK) is a combination of both these meanings in a stricter sense.

-------------------------------------------

The non-sense unfolds

-------------------------------------------

SAK appeared on the silver screen as daught....arrr...son of Sharmila Tagore and Tiger (Actually blackbuck) Pataudi in the movie named Aashique Aawara. Zulu then in his college days still remember SAK with these deadly ingredients :

  1. Shoulderly hair

  2. Squintily eyes (Or possibly I was squint)

  3. Sharmil(a)ee Looks

  4. Eaglely nose

Zulu gyan : Looks dont count really. They say looks dont count. See the potential. Forget the sharmil(a)ee looks. This is a dark horse, he just needs a proper stable to breed !

Stable No 1 : The rookie stable

Started with Aashique Aawara, SAK changed many stables in initial years to reach to the fame. His earlier movies include :

Parampara (Et tu Yash Chopra movie ?)

Yaar Gaddar (the director, audience)

Pehchaan (Not yet)

Aao Pyar Karen (Let's have an )

Dil Tera Deewana (The audience too)

Surakshaa (The Monica Bedi coneksan)

Mein Khiladi Tu Anari (Saving grace !)

Tu Chor Mein sipahi (Goodness gracious ! Grace lost )

Hamesha (Kajol looked great. Aditya Panscholi revisited, remembered as an existing specie)

............

Except the Mein Khiladi Tu Anadi, all movies were wash-out. SAK was remembered for playing a second fiddle to Akshay Kumar, a rather non-sensical role done with a fine grace......

Stable No 2 : The stability Stable

The experiences teach a lot to a man if he learns from them. But u can not manage the fate always in spite of learning from experiences. This is what I call a stable of stability.

Kachche Dhage came in and gave a recognition that dude can improve..although the fate was sealed by Ajay Devgan who stole the show. Hum Sath Sath Hai was a right choice of stable as The Barjatya's magic was on... but the movie couldn't create a wave for which Barjatya's are famous for ! However it was acknowledged that this dude is good when it comes to comic timimg.

Stable No 3 : Acknowledgement stable

Then came Dil Chahta hai where SAK was more than brilliant ! SAK is now acknowledged as a great non-sense comedy actor.

Stable No 4 : Right stable

This is what we call FATE. Samay se pehle bhagya se aadhik kisiko kuch milnewala nahin. SAK lives by it.

Finally it took a weird combination of Fate and choice for SAK to rub shoulders with best horses in town.

Ek Haseena thi from Ramgopal Verma's camp gave a hatke chance for SAK top show his villainish facade. But his Verma stable is like a magic who turned a auntiesh Urmila to a seductress Urmila in Rangeela. Midas touch to be precise.

Now came the HOT camp in the industry...the mushy-mushy camp of Chopras and Johars. Its a platimum touch.

Stamping on his abilities of to do easy comical roles Kal Ho na Ho and Hum Tum raked in compliments galore for SAK... He is now ''recognised ''...

Stable No 5 : Aim high Stable

Parineeta's role for SAK may be a turn-around role for SAK as he will try to move away from the comical stamp.

SAK is now roaring to go up and up with right camp and right horses around...

Zulu says : His non sensical comedies are full paisa-vasool but when it comes to playing a serious role, it remains a big question mark. Parineeta and Ek Haseena thi were a good break but I also wrote some sensible reviews on Black and Raincoat !

-----------------------------------------------------

At last a word on National Award : His initial reaction was like he won it for Parineeta that released during this year.

Someone told me Yash Chopra is going to chair the Censor Board of India next year paving way for SRK to rule it nationally...sshhhh....someone just told me Saif's mom is chairing the Censor Board presently....Kisko batana mat...is kaan ki khabar us kaan ko pata nahi chalni chahiye !

Saif Ali Khan bagging the National Award for the Best Hero for his acting in the 2004 flick Hum Tum might come as a shocker to many.

More so because people just love raking up a controversy and while this year you cannot question the popularity of Page 3 or Veer Zaara - the winner in question is Saif.

Saif is one actor who has never been given his proper due. Although of late (post DCH) the filmmakers have realized his potential and are casting him in good roles but for as long as I remember Saif has always entertained audiences right from the time he set foot in the industry.

The first film I remember seeing of Saif's is Parampara. And then of course Main Khiladi Tu Anadi and Yeh Dillagi - in both these films Akshay Kumar stole the spotlight - not necessarily meaning that Saif's performance was any less.

In fact in both the films, Saif was outstanding. Be it his comic timing or his dancing ability or his emotional scenes - he excelled.

And then came a span of one bad film after the other. Sanjay Gupta's Hameshaa did manage to create a bit of a stir but not enough to shake up the audiences and the makers to sit up and take notice of Chhote Nawab (as Saif is loving called).

It finally took a Sooraj Barjatya who cast him in his 1999 flick Hum Saath Saath Hain for Saif to resurface and start a second innings in the film industry.

Closely followed on the heels of HSSH was Kacchhe Dhaage wherein all the critical acclaim did to a large extent go to Ajay Devgan but Saif managed to impress critics as well. But the film sank at the box office.

2001 was the final turning point in Saif's career. Dil Chahta Hai resurrected his career like nothing else could have.

Sharmila Tagore's son had finally something his mother could be proud of. An actress of yesteryears Sharmila Tagore made her mark with her first film itself. And it took her son almost a decade to have a standing.

Saif's character could very well be termed as the soul in Dil Chahta Hai. Everytime you think of him in the film it manages to bring a smile to your face.

Be it his punch lines or his silly moments - Saif did great justice to his role.

Post Dil Chahta Hai there has literally been no looking back for Saif in his career.

Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega, Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, Darna Mana Hai, Kal Ho Na Ho, LOC and of course the icing on the cake Ek Hasina Thi.

Ek Hasina Thi also won him the nominations of Best Villain at the IIFA awards. Another performance that was superbly delivered. And a film which proved that all it takes for an actor to perform is the director's conviction.

Saif was not his cute self at all in this flick. Instead his character is one that you almost hate and are happy when he is served with justice at the end. And that by any standard is a great compliment.

Even in a Shah Rukh Khan starrer Saif managed to hold his own. Kal Ho Naa Ho was a film which was made by SRK's friend, his character had all the sympathy and the heroine's love but Saif took it up rather as a challenge and came out with flying colours.

Then of course released the much-talked about Hum Tum. In fact the fact that Rani Mukherji was nominated as Best aCtress for the same film at so many award functions and not Saif as Best Actor was a little unfair. And it is only the National AWards that have met with justice.

Saif's character was cute, funny, intense and emotional. And as Sudhir Mishra (chair person of the jury) rightly said there was a certain graph and growth in the character which was very well performed by Saif.

Also for those who have seen Parineeta would agree that it is not just one film or one role that Saif has excelled in of late.

Truly well deserved... for an actor who apart from possessing great acting talent has some great sense of style and a suave personality...

Saif apna zero !

Well ,I am surprised how this man got national award .He is just not worth it .Forget National award ,he is not even capable of taking DHAARAVI award .National award has become a joke after he has got it .

First of all ,what is his contribution in Hindi cinema ? I do not think he has given any meaningful cinema or done any exceptional role. His contribution is that he has wear some designer outfits and dance in rain saying HUM TUM ! His performance was not great in that film .It was just normal kind of role that we see in every second film .Okay okay ,he was so called funny in that role but I do not think it's worth National award .Was his performance in that film in same level as that of Sunny Deol in DAAMINI ,Ajay Devgan in BHAGAT SINGH ,Amitabh in AGNIPATH ? It was just an average performance .

And no way ,he has got it with his hard work but thanks to his mom who was in a jury .Yes ,Sharmila Taigore was the main factor behind this award .And do not you think that there are many more talents who need to be recognised ? There were so many brilliant performance that went unnoticed in this award .I think Abhisekh for YUVA ,SHAHRUKH for SWADES ,Amitabh for DEV were far more brilliant than Saif as Karan in HUM TUM .

Another thing which I hate about this man is that success has gone into his head .Otherwise how could he leave the women [Amrita] who was standing by him during his struggling period ?

And add to the fact that he was nominated as comedian in all other awards including Filmfare ,NATIONAL award has truly become the biggest joke of this year .Thankfully MURDER did not win any national award in popular film as it was biggest hit of last year !

You know guys Dhananjay's favorite is SAif Ali Khan and he has just won the national Award for Hum Tum, You know I also liked that movie but I dont agree with Saif Ali Khan that girls are bad infact Girls are good and Boys are goonda mawalis, But you know SAif Ali Khan is a nice actor and after a long struggle he is becoming a nice big superstar of Bollywood.

His first movie was Ashiq Awara and then Parampara and many more sidey sidey movies, Then his first hit was Main Anari Tu Khiladi with Akshay Kumar and then he gave few sidey films, with him as a solo hero he had never given a hit but even that could not stop him from getting noticed, he got noticed and in 2001 came Di Chahta hai, I really loved the Sameer in that character you know, Dhananjay is a big saif fan and even sidely attempts the Tom Cruise look of Saif in Hum Tum, But SAmeer of Dl Chahta hai was so cute, You know Had John Abraham and Rajeeb not been there na Saif would have been my favorite , so right now he is on 3rd.

Bolo to, Kabse me, Haa mein, Kabse yeh, Haan woh, Kaha to, Arre Woh, Suno Toh, that was so cute a confused DUDE perfectly acted by SAif Ali Khan.

Then came 2003 and Kal Ho Na Ho, this is very bad Saif was given no credit and Shaharukh was only praised for his role and not SAif, Saif also acted well in this movie hence this was also a big movie for him.

HUM TUM got Saif Ali the National Award and its his first hit you know , I mean as a solo hero, Rajeeb (Psyxx) on chat said to me that his mother helped him, NO Rajeeb and everyone who thinks that way Saif won the national award because he deserves it very much.

Performance wise Saif playes a dude's role very welll and also other roles also, REcently in Parineeta he has acted well as a serious lover. Saif has also acted well in Ek Hasina Thi, You know he acted so well as a Villain in that movie.

Overall Saif Ali Khan is my favorite and I like him at No.3 on my list after John and Rajeeb.

Well Do you think that Saif is perfect to win National Award?, let me know and please do join my yahoo group at

Name of Rose? ROSA
Feb 04, 2005 11:19 AM 6443 Views

Saif, Amrita, Sara, Ibrahim. Hum do, humare do. A family happy both because of domestic bliss and Saif?s sudden ascent to the top of the heap in Bollywood.

A family in which the woman called the shots when it came to her man?s career, so much so that when Saif was offered the role of Chunilal in Sanjay Bhansali?s Devdas, Amrita stuck to her guns when it came to haggling for Saif?s remuneration. The consequence? Saif lost the role to Jackie.

There were stories of link-ups, notably with Preity Zinta during the making of Kal Ho Na Ho, but the marriage was rock-steady. Which is why if Saif?s newly found status of a yuppie cult icon took everyone by surprise, his separation with Amrita has created a lot more news.

For the first time, media exposure happened thanks to a white limousine in which Saif was travelling in Toronto for a show. Among people accompanying him were stars like King Khan, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukherjee and Priyanka Chopra. The limo stopped at its scheduled destination, and the media caught the first glimpse of a beautiful European girl who was right behind Saif. Not a star, it was initially reported that the girl was a club dancer till people discovered that she was actually a page three socialite from Italy who makes news in the cocktail circuit ? and the local media ? quite regularly. The actor fell for the girl while Hum Tum was being shot. If Hum Tum changed Saif Ali Khan's life as an actor, Rosa (that?s her name) changed the actor?s personal life.

Destiny had played the matchmaker as it always does ? and mostly when you do not expect it would. The twosome fell in love while, back home, there was utter chaos. Stories suggested that the Pataudis had decided to side with Amrita during her bad days and not with their son because he, according to them, had erred. Saif and Amrita parted ways, and the world wondered: what was so special about the smell of this Rose that a seemingly impregnable marriage had crumbled so dramatically?

Saif was to confirm that he and Amrita were not together anymore, but he went on to add that the separation was a consequence of differences and that there had been no acrimony at all. But he affirmed that his kids and Amrita were hugely important for him while dispelling rumours that he had left his family in a state of financial trouble. He did not speak about the woman in his life, but it has become absolutely clear with time that the actor is completely besotted by this beauty who, as we said earlier, is not a club dancer but a page three socialite who can impress people in a big way both with her looks and her contacts. In fact, when in America not long ago, it is said that Rosa not only organized tickets for Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri but also used her good offices to get them an entry into Madonna?s green room that impressed Gauri no end.

Amrita, in the meantime, is trying to make a comeback in Bollywood. Despite Saif?s denial, reports affirm that he has frozen all accounts while keeping a certain amount in Amrita?s name because he might have to pay a hefty sum for alimony very soon. The Pataudis, according to the actor, are equally concerned about Saif and Amrita.

Meanwhile, a romance continues to bloom. Will it be a hyperbole if we say that this one is the most unexpected romance of them all?

The ‘Saif’ness

Gosh?there was a time (heck just yesterday) when I would have given him 4 stars and not 3, but what can one do? The dude?s personality also needs to be taken into account and here is his recent weak point.

You know, I?ve always liked Saif?if not for his acting, then for his whole ?family man? reputation. I mean, he married Amrita Singh, an actress older than him, and also, in my opinion, a little less beautiful, but then I thought, ?Wow! This Saif guy must be so different than all those shallow freaks out there!? My respect for him increased! I mean, I knew that Amrita was a better actress, no seriously, just watch Aaina! Also her role in Shaheed was perfect!

Anyways, it was like as if Saif was the kind of deep and mature guy any girl would love to have and all his photos with his family proved that he was a family man. You know, he loved his daughter and his son?but his recent behaviour has just disgusted me.

What with all his affairs?and now, he?s frozen all of his joint accounts with Amrita, has left his family to go on some stupid commercial tour?I mean, hello? Where are your values Saif? Is fame more important or your family? sigh

Anyways, moving on from my babbling, a lot of these movies aren?t in chronological order, like I?ve tried but if it?s wrong, please tell me so I can fix it. =)

Yeh Dillagi

He was the aloof brother, the playboy type, well to whatever ?playboyish? extent a hero in the early 1990s could get. I reckon he acted pretty well, although of course I loved Akki better, but Saif was still good?funny as hell.

I loved ?Ole Ole?, I mean not his character?s character, but just the song and his dancing, and besides I was too young to know anything about the feminist perspective!

Naam Kya Hai was also a mad song picturised on him and Kajol.

A Khiladi Anardi movie

I?m not sure, but I?m guessing he came in at least one of the movies titled ?khiladi? with Akki. He of course added in the light humour, never really had much scope to act out a serious role that required emotional strength. But, he was funny and that?s all yet in those days, you know, there was that emphasis, leave comedy to the comics etc. But of course things have changed.

Hum Saath Saath Hain

Well, I didn?t like this movie, but I loved Salman?s character and I also like Saif?s acting in this, but of course, once again, it was not a ?mature? role I mean even though near the end he acted in two or three emotional scenes, but no, he just couldn?t do them as well. He was just there to provide the laughs?sigh sometimes comedic personas just get sidelined?

Na Tum Jaano Na Hum

Yet again, a playboy and of course funny. The scene where he?s trying to describe to Hrithik all of his girlfriends and relates them to food is quite funny. But it?s quite annoying as well, in each and every film; he?s a playboy, little regard for women and is funny. That?s it.

Dil Chahta Hai

This movie recognised him, he was totally funny, especially his jokes about the timetable guy! But guess what? He still played the good looking playboy. Far out. No versatility. Although he was very efficient with the role, no one could have done it better than him, but man, always this role?

Kal Ho Na Ho

Well, of course this movie was a huge hit, and more so with Saif playing along as the supporting actor. He was a playboy yes, he was good looking, yes, and he was funny, yes. However, the gay jokes got a little bit tiring after a while.

Anyways, he also had a chance to show some emotions and he displayed them quite well I must say. He looked the best when he was showing some emotion and not just making you laugh. Although I love him in his scene with SRK with the ?6 din ladki in? (6 days girl in your face)-I still can?t believe that?s the English name they gave it!

Ek Haseena Thi

Why do I think that this was his best work till date? Maybe because his role was negative? Maybe. Maybe because you finally got to see that this guys had more acting skills than just making people laugh. Although, it may be useful to note that even here, he is shown as to be the good looking playboyish kinda guy. All the time? But heck, he was the villain, and he acted damn good! Unfortunately this one didn?t kinda sizzle at the B.O, but oh well.

Hum Tum

Yes?guess what kinda role he plays here?yeps! You guessed it! A playboyish kinda guy whose good looking and funny. Although, I loved it when they showed him maturing, I was kinda glad that well, least he knows a little bit on acting! Yes, great work!

Also other films he acted in like ?Love Ke Liye?? I haven?t included because I have not seen them or I don?t remember them.

But if anyone could, could they please tell me the name of his movie and how he was reincarnated?like he fell of some cliff and then came to life in the form of reincarnation or something.

But yeah you know, he?s good looking, smashing good looks but his selection of movies and personality have caused a dent. I mean, I don?t know why I gave him 3 stars?but you see, something stopped me from giving him 2?but then again, something would stop me from giving Kareena a full zero (and I know that that?s not possible since lowest is one)!

But, all these comments made by him about J.P Dutta and then how what he said about Amrita. I mean what he said about loving her but not being in love with her maybe true, but does he have to make it public and thus, hurt her more? Seriously man, grow up! You?re hurting your kids as well by all these women?and how you?ve bought another flat somewhere in Mumbai.

You?ve been married since 1991 I think and I mean, does it pay to end such a bond? And man, the other ladies in his life, will you feel safe with him? I mean don?t they say??once a cheater, always a cheater??

I mean look at Tom?he ended his first marriage because of his affair with Nicole then he ended his marriage with Nicole due to Penelope?sigh

Saif, your film career is blossoming, the industry has recognised you, you?re good, you?re a hunk?but you?re a loser. I can?t believe I?m saying this, because I used to really like you?flirt.

These kinds of actions are just?yeah; even Amir Khan has lost some of the respect I had for him due to his infidelity.

I mean some say that you should separate personal and professional, yeah you should, but you see, your personal life, your actions there are your true self?and if you?re a shallow freak, then well, it?s bound to come up some time in your professional career. I don?t know, but I like to know a little bit more about a film star before I give them full stars.

Dear Saif... I hope you patch things up coz marriage is a blessing and affairs are just black tainted pieces of ----?but you know, maybe you don?t deserve Amrita and your gorgeous little kids?yes, only time will tell! And no one is, especially you, is ?Saif? from Samay.

Anyways, hope you guys weren?t bored! Plus, this is stupid, I have to 'recommend' or 'not recommend' a human being to a friend?? That's crazy. =)

Ciao!
