ProPix, Bangalore Reviews

Carl Zeiss Lens
Sep 01, 2008 03:55 PM 3441 Views

=I am a doctor by profession and I was looking for a good macro lens for use with my Nikon D200 lens. There are a lot of times when we want to take a close-up macro photograph of a particular condition, or during surgery, so that we can archive it or fr sharing with colleagues for their opinions.

I tried many brands of lenses, including Nikon, Sigma, and Tamron, but they all had one problem or the other, and were terrible at the way they rendered colours. Some of them were reasonably sharp, ut form my purposes, I found that none of them were sharp enough.

So I asked around and was referred to ProPix  There I was shown for the first time, the Carl Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 100mm f2 lens for the first time. I tried it at their showroom and then came back home and looked up the reviews and feedback about this lens.

I was really surprised to see that every one who ever bought this lens was very happy with it. So I went back to ProPix and bought myself a 100mm Carl Zeiss Makro Planar f2 lens. Today, I am happy to say that I am very very happy with the lens, and it's image quality. The lens has a metal body which is very rugged. The focusing is extremly smooth and feels solid. It is so easy to focus this lens, and it is the brightest lens I have ever seen on my camera. At and aperture of f2, this is also the fastest macro lens in the world!

I want to tell about my very good experience I had with Propix. There the person was very knowledgeable and helpful. Even after they found that I have a good budget, they did not make me spend it all on wrong items. In fact they pursuaded me to buy just two things that would be of god value and save the remaining money.

I wanted to buy a gift for my husband on his birthday and thought it will be best if it was something that he really wanted. After many days of detective work, I slowly found out that he wanted things like a new camera, lens and other photographic godies. I did not know much about SLR cameras, though I have been always using small point and shoot cameras.

I went to GK Vale, Whizz, Chroma and also Ezone and staples. Everywhere the sales people were not very knowledgeable. When they found that I had a budget of Rs.90000, they all were trying to sell me expensive camera models, which I did not know much about. My friend suggested that I should refer to https://propix.in. She said that this was a Bangalore company located in Ramamurthy nagar. I got the phone number of the shop from the internet and called them. They asked me about the camera that my husband presently uses, and they invited me to their shop. I went there and they showed me some lenses and also said that I can take a camera.

First time, a camera store told me not to buy a new camera. They said that my husbands present camera Nikon D200 was still very good and no need to waste money on a new model. They said that I can buy a Carl Zeiss lens, and a good tripod. This surprised me, because I had already decided that I may really have to end up buying a new camera! The shop person told me that the best lens in the world was Carl Zeiss and when they found out that my husband likes to take photos of landscapes, city and markets they said I can easily buy a 28mm lens from Carl Zeiss, which will be a sensible decision. They showed me a lot of tripods, but since I did not know much about all this, they helped me, and said to buy something of medium load capability. They offered Uni-Loc tripod for Rs17, 500 and said that my husband can put even very big lens on that.

Overall I bought 1 Carl Zeiss lens, 1 Uni-loc tripod and 1 Uni-Loc tripod head with a quick plate. This whole thing cost me only 78000 rupees and I was really happy with the entire experience.

And they also gave me a free camera cleaning kit and some filters. When I showed it to my husband, he was was so thrilled with the gifts. He has been using the lens and tripod all the time, and he also has started to buy all his material for photography from Propix, recommends https://propix.in to all his friends also.

Propix staff is very professional and helpful. It is a much better option than buying in big shops like Ezone or Staples where the sales people don't know anything.

This review is to share my very high satisfaction on my dealing with ProPix in Bangalore. I was searchinh for a tripod suited to do macro photography for a about 3 years but did not find what I wanted. Then I heard of ProPix in Bangalore, https://propix.in, which was having professional tripods from Uni-Loc. I saw the internet and the reviews, then I contacted Propix. There they told me that they had many models of UNI-LOC tripods in stock. When I told them my requirment they suggested ani-Loc Major System 1600 tripod, so I ordered this. Along with that, I also bought a big ball head of UNI-LOC make. I transfered the amount in cash to Propix and I got 7 percent discount also. They sent the tripod by courier to me to Delhi. The packing was very good quality and the tripod was in excellent condition. This Uni-Loc tripod is very sturdy and has a load capacity of 14kgs!
