Show- off your hands!!!
Jul 12, 2005 11:50 PM 5910 Views

So finally, finally, you have a half-hour to spare before you start the'getting ready' ritual. Why not pay some attention to your hands? They are alwayz on show and bring more grace and poise to your look than you probably realise.

The do-it-yourself home manicure!

# First of all remove all old nail polish and file nails in one direction, that is form side to centre.Never file nails to a sharp point. Usually emery boards work best.To bring back the natural colour to yellow nails, try rubbing a slice of lemon on your nails before soaking them.

# Now, dip hands in a bowl of warm water with a dash of face wash/mils shampoo and lightly fragranced oil.To boost circulation of your hands, add 2 drops of peppermint oil(Essential Oils by Blossom Kochhar has a lovely one).As an alternative to using lemon you could try Hydrogen Peroxide(a capful) added to warm water to whiten nails.Soak 4 about five mins.

# Dab hands and nails with a towel and apply cuticle softner around nails( if you don'thave one, use hand cream).with rounded side of an orange stick, gently push back cuticle.(Orange sticks are available at most cosmetic stores.)

# Massage hands with moisturising cream use plenty of cream to make hands soft and supple. Now gently wipe off with a damp towel.

# A mask does wonders to your face.Believe it or not it does the samefor your hands and arms.Makes the skin feel clean, taut and fresh. Apply on your hands in exactly the same way you would on your face.I use Fullers earth mixed with rose water.

# If he happens to be eager and turns up early, let him choose your nail colour and let him put it on.:)

=THE MOST SIMPLE REVIEW=

Here is my shortest, most straight to point review.

MANICURE TIPS.

  1. After polish application, be very careful with what you do with your hands. Don't move and waste what would otherwise been a good manicure.

  2. Dont apply one thick layer. Apply many thin layers. This will make sure the polish doesnt chip off. It also looks better.

  3. Three strokes does the trick. One in the middle of your nail, one by the left and the other on the right. Your brush should hold just enough polish for one nail. Too much will look blotchy, too little will be uneven.

  4. Top coat really helps. Use clear polish for a top coat. Gives a very shiny finished look.

  5. If the polish is the kind that is clear with lots of glitter in it, make sure there is a base coat.

  6. A really cool look: paint your nails with whatever colour(no clear polish), then, paint over it the kind of clear polish with lots of glitter in it.

  7. Nail shape: oval looks good on most but square works too, for some.

  8. To shape them, first use a small nail scissors or a small nail polish, then use a nail file and slowly smooth out the edges.

  9. Before applying the nex coat, make the the first one is dry. this may seem simple but it is really important.

  10. Don't manicure in a rush. A good manicure requires a relaxed mind, lots of time and lots of fuss and enjoyment.

  11. Nail polish remover: choose a good one. Make sure that after using it, your nail's dont turn white.

  12. While applying, paint your nails and paint your nails alone. Dont paint your cuticles or your fingers, even by accident.

  13. Dare to experiment. Want to try to engrave a design on your nail with a compass? go aheadand try.

  14. Switch polish with your friends. Seriously, this is the best way you can get lots of colours. Share nail polish, its fun.

  15. Store nail polish well. Best place is in the fridge.

  16. Don't type with wet nails. If you do, your nails will look like what mine look like right now: a mess.

  17. Always read reviews on mouthshut abt nails.

  18. Always form an opinion about that review.

  19. Always leave a comment on that review.

You will need the following things:

-nail filer

-nail clipper

-acetone / np remover

-cotton

-cream or vaseline

-small tub of warm water

-rose water

-nail polish

-> Remove ur old nail polish with acetone or a nail polish remover.

-> Clip your nails, if needed.

-> Remove dirt from ur nails.

-> Using a nail filer, file ur nails in the shape which suits ur hand, like some keep oval shape, or a square look.

-> Wash ur hands with a mild soap or shampoo & warm water.

-> Massage ur hands with a hand cream or vaseline, preferably hand cream

-> After 5 minutes of massage, soak both the hands in warm water(into which 2 spoons of rose water has been added) for 5 minutes.

-> Dry ur hands with a soft towel or napkin.

Now u can apply nail polish.First apply a thin coat of nail polish, then after it dries two more coats with intervals for drying.

If ur nail polish has become thick, then u can add some nail polish remover & shake it properly before applying.
