KISHOR FOR AMITABH
Feb 12, 2017 08:16 PM 4745 Views

The voice of Kishor Kumar is suitable for almost all the actors, but the special effect of his voice is exclusively suitable to Amitabh Bachchan. It seems as if Amitabh himself is singing the song. The heavy voice of Amitabh matches with that of Kishor's voice. Either it is "Khaike Paan Banaras wala ."(a jolly song) or "O saathi re."(a sad song) all the songs are fantastic. Or the song of emotion" rote rote hasna seekho.". The combination of Kishor Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan is Non repeatable.

Kishore Kumar Sings For Amitabh Bachchan - Kishore
Feb 03, 2017 06:37 PM 4392 Views

A Hindi film actor can't turn into a star without the help of a good playback singer who can become his voice. Traditionally, songs are integral parts of Bollywood films and they give any film an entirely new look.

Kishore Kumar, himself, was a great entertainer, but his talent came to Amitabh's rescue when he desperately needed someone to become his voice.

Amitabh's voice didn't need any introduction, but he was not a trained singer, and Indians are an obsessed lot. They want to hear and see the same person all the time, thus Amitabh also needed someone who was as credible as himself.

Kishore Kumar met all his requirements and a series of mesmerising songs began. Every time, the audience got floored by the deadly combination of Amitabh Bachchan and Kishore Kumar.

We have compiled a list of songs that have the combined magic of Amitabh Bachchan and Kishore Kumar infused into them .

The best duo of a singer and an actor ever in Boll
Dec 08, 2016 01:26 PM 4629 Views (via Mobile)

Kishore Kumar and amitabh bacchan the two legends of Indian film industry. Both are the millinium superstars. Kishore da the music legend entertained us with his melodious voice from black& whites to coloured songs though hi left us in 1987 but the angry young man is unstoppable even after getting into his 70's. The contribution by both of them is remarkable and it is impossible to have their substitutes ever in future. The duo worked together for many times giving us numerous hits like " pag ghunghru bandh meera na achi" from namak halal, "muqadar ka sikander" title track, "o sathi re" from laawaris and " intehaan ho gayi intezaar ki" from sharaabi. The list is too long and irresistible for any music lover. Although megastar Amit ji acted for several other singers and similarly kishore da too sang for other Bollywood superstars as well but the charm of chemistry between this duo is unmatchable and just magical.

Why Kishore Kumar Refused to Sing for Amitabh
Jan 04, 2016 04:22 PM 6065 Views

It is known to all cinema lovers that during 1980s and late 1970s, most of the times Kishore Kumar used to sing for Amitabh Bachchan in Hindi films and it matched perfectly. However in film'Sharabi' one of the songs was sung by Amitabh Bachchan himself long with Kishore Kumar.

But in the cast of the film, the name of Amitabh Bachchan appeared first in the list of playback singers and it severely upset Kishore Kumar. Then he decided not to sing for Amitabh Bachchan in films, did after some years though.

Evergreen Songs
Apr 28, 2015 08:18 PM 6142 Views

The evergreen and versatile voice of kishore kumar suits most of the heroes of 80's. But the best suited voice was for the legend Amitabh Bacchan. His expressions and acts suits the voice of kishore kumar so perfectly that it is so joyful to watch. From cheerful to serious melodies his voice has suited amitabh bachchan so perfectly.

The best acted and sung song for me is "Khaike Paan banaras wala". It is so beautifully pictured on amitabh bachchan. I keep watching this video or listening to this song on loop.

A melodious voice-Kishore Kumar
Apr 28, 2015 06:44 PM 7080 Views

A voice which entertained us, made us laugh, who made us wept in tears. Kishore Kumar greatest single of all times. He was a gifted singer with many talents apart from his voice.

His songs are superb. But when it is Kishore da and Amitabh Ji then this dual juggal bandi fire the floor. All the song sung by and pituarised on Amitabh Bachan is memorable. Out of all "Oo Saathi Re" from movie "Mukkadar Ka Sikandar" is awesome.

Apart from this "Pagh Ghungroo Bandh Mira Nachi Thi" has entertained us for last so many years. I had never found any singer so compactible for Mr. Bachchan voice. In a true word Kishore da is the best singer for Amitabh Bachahan Sahab. He is immortal in world of music.

We miss u Kishore Da!

Thanks.

When Two Legends Meet
Mar 26, 2005 09:40 PM 28596 Views

Kishore Kumar- A multi faceted genius who was an actor, singer, producer, director and musician. A man whose songs touched the lives of millions of people in India and still do. A singer without comparison and one of the greatest talents in India.

Amitabh Bachan- A living legend, one of the finest actors of India. An angry young man who mesmerized and still continues to fascinate millions of people in India and abroad with his performances. And yes a voice that is so deep and resonant, that you would watch any movie just to hear that deep voice of his.

One man used his voice to sing and enthrall millions of fans, another used his voice to captivate filmgoers for last 3 decades.

What happens when these two legends meet? Sheer magic. Yes Kishore Da and Amitabh Bachan seemed to be made for each other. Its true that Kishore da was known more as the voice of Rajesh Khanna and Dev Anand, and in fact his best songs have been for them. And other singers like Rafi, Mukesh and Yesudas sang some really good songs for Amitabh also.

Also Amitabh?s action packed movies really didn?t give much scope for the melodious romantic songs made famous by Rajesh and Dev. Yet whenever you watched Amitabh Bachan lip sync to Kishore da tunes on screen, it seemed as if he was really singing the song. In fact Kishore da?s voice fitted Amitabh Bachan like a Tee.

One example is suffice to show how much Kishore da modulated his voice to suit AB?s deep throated voice. If you have listened to the song Mach Gaya Shorfrom the movie Khuddar, you could be easily fooled into thinking that it was Amitabh himself who sang that song, especially as the tone is very much similar to most of the songs AB sang like Rang Barse, Mere Angne Mein.

At least I was for a long time, until I came to know that it was Kishore da deliberately adopted the low tone which AB uses for singing, and hence when you listen to this song, it appears that AB himself is singing this song. Ah Kishore da, you truly are a genius.

Another example of Kishore da?s genius for AB are the songs Thodi Si Jo Peeli Hai from Namak Halaal and Imtihaan Ho Gayi Intezaar Ki. Both these songs showcased a drunk AB. If you listen to Thodi Si, you find that Kishore da, puts in that hic sound, to get the drunken effect after every second line and also deliberately induces a sort of slurring voice. And yes AB?s drunken dancing arms flailing all around as he stumbles is a classic again.

The other song is different in that in Sharaabi AB is an alcoholic, unlike in Namak Halaal, where he drinks only to get even. So if you listen to the opening stanzas, Kishore da again gives the feel of an alcoholic and makes the voice sound so different. Only such a great singer could work on such nuances.

? Dekha Na Hai Re,Bombay to Goa, R.D.Burman An absolutely zany song, and Kishore da totally freaks out in this song. This fast paced number is sure to set your feet tapping. Pancham aur Kishore da ka kya kehna. Their jodi was just magic and in fact I would be writing an article soon on their combo. Just witness the way RD makes use of the been in this song. And the usage of the words ?Dole Dole Re?. And yes AB?s first dance number, which he does superbly. Matter of fact, AB was never a good dancer, but he starred in some of the greatest dance numbers of Bollywood.

? Kya Jaane Main Hu Kaun, Bandhe Haat, R.D.BurmanThis is one of the finest Kishore-Pancham songs I have ever heard. But as this movie of AB was a major flop, I guess this song also didn?t get much fame.A pity for this is a real great song which speaks about the frustration of a lover, who cannot meet his beloved. Listen to this part ?Kya Jaanu Main Hu Kaun, Mara Hua Zindagi ka, Mujhko to Mehfil Mein Laya Hai Pyaar Kisi ka, Lag ke Gale Main, Phir Bhi Sambalna Sakhon Mein, Dekho Yeh Mere Bande Haat, Kaise Milun tumse chahu to mil na sakon main, dekho yeh mere bande haat?. AB played a double role for the first time in this movie and Mumtaz starred opposite him in their only movie together.

? Har Hassen Cheez Ka Main , Saudagar, Ravindra Jain- This was a movie which featured AB in a totally negative role, and he comes up with a superb performance. And Kishore da again comes up with a brilliant solo in this movie picturized on AB. AB plays a gur seller in the movie and the song speaks about his life . ?Saara gaon mujhe rasiye kahe, job he dekha man basiya kahe?.

? Meet Na Mila Re Man Ka, Abhimaan, S.DBurman- This song would have been on the lips of every lonely heart in India. I am very much sure, that all of us must have felt in the way Kishore da describes in the yearning for love ?Chain Nahin Bahar, Chain Nahin Ghar Mein, Man mera dharti par, Aur Kabhi Ambar Mein, Usko dhoonda har nagar mein, har dagar mein, gali gali dekha nayan utaye?. Abhimaan is again one of AB?s best performance as a jealous husband, and this song is shown in beginning of movie to portray AB as a successful singer. I never tire of listening to this song again and again. Abhimaan also had that great Kishore-Lata duet ?Tere Mere Milan Ki yeh Raina?, but for now I am just concentrating on solos.

? Badi Sooni Sooni Hai, Aaye Tum Yaad Mujhe, Mili, S.D.Burman- These two serious numbers from Mili are just masterpieces. Mili was Dada?s last movie and he ensured that we would never forget his songs. Both these songs would automatically make it into a list of Kishore da?s greatest songs. While Badi Sooni Sooni Hai, speaks about the loneliness faced by the protagonist, Aaye Tum Yaad Mujhe, is about the hero having deal to with painful memories of his past. I would say that these two songs are the best songs Kishore da sang for AB.

? Aadmi Jo Kehta Hai , Dekha Phoolon Ko Kante, Majboor,Laxmikant Pyarelal- Again another set of good solos which Kishore da sang for AB in Majboor. Of course not exactly in the league of Meet Na Mila Re or Badi Sooni Sooni Hai, but still good enough. Majboor was actually a pretty interesting movie where AB plays a character who takes the rap for a murder to get money he needs for his family. Aadmi Jo Kehta Hai is a pretty philosophical song which emphasizes that we need to take the responsibilities for our actions, while Dekha Phoolon Ko Kante is a typical happy family song, where AB tries to cheer up his crippled sister(played by momma Farida Jalal).

? Khaike Paan Banaraswala, Don, Kalyanji Anandji- Even now this song is guaranteed to set your feet tapping. Kishore totally gets into the UP-Bihar bhaiiyya dialect. Actually the wording is exactly that used in the Benares-Allahabad belt. ?Arre Raam Duhayi Kaise Chakkar Mein Pad Gayi Hai Hai?. Just notice how Kishore deliberately stretches the Hai word the second time just to give that bhang effect. Also in the beginning ?Bhang Ka Rang? interlude he deliberately slurs his words, to give that combined effect of singing with the pan in the mouth.

Double Magic
Oct 18, 2002 01:42 PM 10376 Views

NOTE: I think this is a category for a certain music compilation album. However, Sushamaji's review inspired me to use this category to list my all time favourite songs of Kishore Kumar which he has sung for the superstar Amitabh Bachchan. So here goes:

THE REVIEW

One ruled the world of music. The other was the emperor of the acting arena!

One's voice lent a new dimension to poetry. The other's voice was a blessing for dialogues!

One reached the soul through your ears. The other reached it through your eyes!

One was an actor's brother, who made it big in the music world. The other was a poet's son, who made it big in acting!

One was the inimitable Kishore Kumar.

The other was the one and only Amitabh Bacchan.

When I think of these two legends, it strikes me that the only time the cinegoers saw them together on the screen was perhaps in the movie Bombay to Goa, where Kishoreda made a guest appearance. The mind wanders in the lives of these two greats, and then it is that I realize that Bombay to Goa was not the only time I saw them together on screen. I saw them together in the form of umpteen songs Kishoreda showered all over the Big B's career.

Whenever Amitabh lip-synched Kishoreda's song, I met the Bengali singer on screen.

Whenever I heard any such song on my deck, I subconsciously visualized the Big B singing it on screen.

Anyway, coming back to the topic, let me see which are the Kishore-sung-Amit-acted-songs I really cherish!

PLEASE NOTE: I am taking into account only the male solo songs. Counting the duets demands a best 20 songs category.

MY SELECTIONS

Dilbar Mere(Satte pe Satta)

Kishore was at his melodious best in this song. And in the film, the song marked the entry of a suave, clean shaven, dashing Bachchan. It was bound to have the enthralling effect on the audience. It was Pancham's composition.

Mach gayaa shor(Khuddaar)

Perhaps this is the only song, other than the slow version of Pyaar Humen kis mod pe, where Kishore has sung on such a low scale for Amitabh. As the story goes, the song was originally supposed to be sung by Big B himself. But the last moment, Amitabh said it was not his cup of tea. The track already being recorded, was on Amitabh's voice scale, which was too low for Kishoreda. Knowing Kishoreda, the producers were a bit apprehensive about asking him to sing in Amitabh's scale. But Kishoreda did oblige, and there you have it! A superb song, rendered in such a low scale that one may feel it is indeed Amitabh's voice with Kishoreda's finesse! Composed by Rajesh Roshan.

Badi sooni sooni hain(Mili)

It was a mad world of Mili, the bubbly girl, enacted by Jaya Bhaduri. Fun and pranks all the way! In the middle of all this, you hear the sad notes of this song. The gem of sorrow in a bouquet of happiness. Kishoreda literally pierces your heart with this soul touching melody. The song also marks the entry of Amitabh Bachchan in the film, and this entry is effected by showing just his black profile with a glass in hand! Enchanting! Music was by the one and only S.D.Burman.

Meet na milaa re man ka(Abhimaan)

Meet Amitabh as the singing star in this movie underlining the male ego. You can almost feel Kishoreda's voice enhancing the pace of this superb number. The instrumentation is too good. A typical S.D.Burman composition.

Rimjhim gire saawan(Manzil)

I often experience virtual rain showers in October heat, whenever I listen to this song. Great song, great picturisation! A Pancham composition!

Khaike paan banaras wala(Don)

It is not possible that you think of Kishoreda and Amitabh, and you do not remember this song. This song is by and far the best combination of the singer-actor pair. Kishoreda, the man that he was, gave the much needed UP ka jhatka in this song, and Amitabh set the screen on fire with all the gusto of a paan eating UP ka bhaiyya! Truly, a great example of how the two legends complimented each other. Composed by Kalyanji Anandji.

Jahaan teri ye nazar hain(Kaalia)

Dhin patapat dhinini popo- I am visualizing Amitabh dancing in a club, while he and Shahaniseth are wooing the princess for a necklace they have their eyes on! What a song. Superb foot tapping rhythm, and a Kishoreda treat. A Pancham composition!

Tum saath ho jab apne(Kaalia)

A great song again! Amitabh and Parveen Babi dancing around a glaring Pran! Kishoreda's voice and Amitabh's expressive eyes defied the inspector. A Pancham composition!

Chookar mere man ko(Yaraana)

A lovesong that appeals to every heart that ever loved! Kishoreda touched your heartstrings. The picture of Amitabh singing in an empty auditorium remains etched in the memory of his millions of fans. Romantic! Highly romantic! Composed by Rajesh Roshan.

Pag ghungroo baandhi(Namak Halal)

It is not possible that you hear this song and do not remember the turbaned Amitabh dancing awkwardly with the cabrae dancers. It is also not possible that you see this song and do not laud the mind-blowing rendition of Kishoreda. Truly, a classic example of playback singing. Composed by Bappi Lahiri.

Manzilen apni jagah hain(Sharaabi)

Another gem of a song by the duo. Sung in the last years of his life, Kishoreda proved beyond doubt that his life was too short for the vast ocean of talent God had given him to share with his fans. Composed by Bappi Lahiri.

IN CONCLUSION

Damn it! I have already listed ten songs. And there are so many more! But I guess, I will have to stop here. Maybe we will go into the other songs when you visit me. Till then....

Cheers~

Yes Folk's

The Big B really hit it well with the best of Kishore Da.

Even at the begining of his career kishore Da gave a song like, Kiya janu mein hoon kaun mara huva zindagi ka, mujko toh mehfil mein laya hai pyar kisi ka, lagkey gaaley phir bhi macchal na saku mein ,dekho yeh mere baandhe haath, kaisey milu tumse chaun toh mil na saku mein dekho yeh mere baandhe haath. From here on I kept the combination of the best songs sung by K.K for Amit Bhaiya.

My list concerns what I think is and was the best to both in their on way as singer and enacted by the star corncerned.

(7)Jahan teri yeh nazar hai meri jaan mujey khabar hai, baach na saka koi hayen lambhe mere haath jitney, dekh idhar yaar dhyan kidar hai. Film, Kaalia.

(8)Rotey, rotey hasna seekho, haanstey, haanstey rona kitni chaavi bhaari Ram ne uthna chaley khilona.

Film, Aandha Kanoon.

(9)Manzilein apni jagah hai, raastey apni jaagah. Film,Shaaraabi.

(10)Rohtey huvey aatey hai sab, haasta huva joh jaayega, woh muquaddar ka sikandar, woh muquadddar ka sikandar jaaney maan kheilaiyega. Muquaddar ka Sikandar.

Sorry the list is not yet completed as I have to give the names of music directors as well, and still a few more songs please bear with me as it is late now.

Bye Sushama
