I recently bought a jar of Haldiram's Mixed Pickle from the local grocery store and was sorely disappointed. The pickle was of poor quality, with a slimy texture and a distinct lack of flavor.
The jar was filled with a few small pieces of cucumber, carrot, and cauliflower, none of which had any real pickle taste or crunch. The pickle was very watery, with a weak vinegar taste, and the spices were barely detectable.
When I opened the jar, the smell was almost nonexistent. The smell should have been a combination of the pickling spices and vinegar, but instead, it had a faint, musty smell.
The pickle was also incredibly salty. I understand that pickles need to be salty to preserve them, but this pickle was almost too salty to eat. It was not a pleasant flavor and it made it almost impossible to enjoy the pickle.
The overall taste of the pickle was unpleasant, and I would not recommend it to anyone. It was not worth the price I paid for it, and I'm not sure if I will buy another jar of Haldiram's Mixed Pickle in the future.
