I want to share my experience about Guru Nanak dev hospital in Amritsar. This condition  of this hospital is very bad. This hospital is very big. The infrastructure of this hospital is very good but they do not provide proper facility to people.

The wall of this hospital is not properly painted. This hospital is very dirty as a comparison to another hospital. The corner and tiles of this hospital are very dirty. There is only one dispensary in this hospital. The staff of this hospital do not provide proper care to poor people.

Poor condition of hospital

The hospital is in such a bad condition.there is no proper facility of electricity.once I came through a incident when an eye surgery was going on in the ophthalmology operation theatre and suddenly electricity was gone. There was no facility of generator and the rest of surgery was done under light of torches.the staff is very poor.no one wants to work there.many doctors have their private clinics or hospitals in which they are more interested rather than working in hospital which is also illegal though.some of the instruments that are used in o.T. are rusted and they are used again n again without cleaning them properly.this was in family planning o.t.anyway my xperience was too bad. N I dont like that hospital at all

Needs Drastic changes

The government hospital G.N.D.H, at Majitha Road Amritsar is a huge of hospital built on acres of land and is a free hospital. It is attached to Government Medical College Amritsar.

Student doctors get guidance and experience by studying the cases admitted to this hospital. Plethora of medical, surgical and other facilities are available here. This used to be a  referral a hospital. Many top doctors serve and have served here.

But Alas! Its administration has rendered it in a pitiable condition. The condition of laboratory, blood bank and behavior of nurses and staff is horrible. Its plagued by the same diseases as the other departments of a typical government are.

The over flowing wash rooms, tricking water pipe joints, no light bulbs, no security present an eerie sight at night. Though its a free hospital, hardly a syringe or a cotton swab is available here. Its a pathetic sight to see poor patients with long list of medicines, surgical material, cotton etc going to buy the same  from  shops outside the hospital.
